Trudeau announces deals to put another 30,000 ventilators into production in Canada. That's a huge number on top of the 10,500 announced earlier. For perspective, Canada has about 5,000 ventilators now.

Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor have landed at Calgary, and were met by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. A Canadian official said the former Chinese detainees landed in Calgary because that’s where Spavor’s family is. Kovrig will continue onto TTO shortly where his family is.

So it's official, the motion is defeated 180- 146. The Liberal government survives, with the support of NDP, Green and two Independent votes. One glitch, an MP disconnected accidentally and she didn't hear the question, so her vote couldn't count.

Terribly sad news. I’ve just learned former #SCC Justice Peter Cory has died. He was a gentleman, unfailingly polite to counsel and reporters. Here’s the story I wrote on his exit from the bench. He later led an inquiry into deaths in Northern Ireland.
