At the end of one of the loveliest

Had the privilege of opening Sale Area Model Engineering Society’s new Engine Shed in Walton Park this afternoon & was very excited about my train trip! 🚂🚂🚂
This morning I dropped in on Samir & volunteers who are getting his Syrian restaurant in Stretford ready for opening in a few weeks. We’re all very excited & it shows what can happen as a result of the community refugee sponsorship scheme!
Today I’d like to thank a few people who’ve supported me as Mayor this year. Thank you first of all to the Mayoress Anne Duffield- we’ve had many adventures this year and it’s been a pleasure sharing them with you!
My final photo as Mayor- I was so pleased my friends Wasim, Wisam & Soad could introduce the Council meeting. They’re part of what makes Trafford great. It’s been an amazing year- thank you.

Was meant to be up for election again next week but instead heading into extra time...
Thank you as ever to Stretford residents for giving me a chance since 2008 🗳

Our thoughts at

Freedom of the Borough is the highest honour we can give and
@MarcusRashford

Well done to Davyhulme councillors Sue & Barry for everything you’ve done to get one of Trafford’s first bike libraries set up at Woodsend Library. Great to join you today at the launch & to see the first bicycle lent out 🚲🚲🚲

The most important part of our
@TraffordCouncil
meeting happened before the formal meeting began. Thank you to the care experienced younger people who so powerfully voiced why having care experience as a protected characteristic is so important.
My first full

This smoothie from Uplift in Stretford is possibly the healthiest thing I’ve had all year 😇 If you can, please support our local independents (good to see people doing just that today 👍🏻)
My final Citizenship Ceremony as Mayor- what an absolute privilege to have been part of these occasions this year. A huge thank you to

I presented our draft budget proposals for 2023/24. A £209.15m budget with an initial budget gap of £25.82m- we’ve got that gap down to £8.52m at draft stage but the last thing councils need now is Austerity 2.0

Thank you to all the volunteers, staff & participants who put on Trafford Live at the Town Hall today- great to catch up with so many people who help make Trafford great!
Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council, has expressed his frustration at the proposed Government settlement for local council finances. Please watch the video for his thoughts the current situation.
It gave me great pleasure to unveil the bust of John Rylands in its new home at Stretford Public Hall a few weeks after noticing it in the stores at Trafford Local Studies. Thank you to the Council & Local Studies for helping move him to his new home!
Like many S&U constituents I’m very sad that
@KateGreenSU
will be standing down at the next election. We will all miss her & she is a huge loss to parliament. Thank you Kate for everything since 2010 🌹
Lovely surprise waiting for me at the Town Hall today- Jean, who I met at Altrincham Library a few weeks ago, has embroidered a card with a very kind message inside! Incredibly thoughtful 😊
