I'm starting to think you people live in an echo chamber that doesn't represent the over 50 million Kenyans. I'm certain this is a weird bubble that represents only a subset of the population but you observe it because you're part of that bubble haha.
She said she had never been to an African country where people were trying so hard to be white/British, where they treat their own people badly to impress white people. I have seen this in Nairobi and at the coast. It is shameful. That is why so many news anchors have fake…
@TiskTusk
Middle class, urban dwellers actually. We are the ones with kids who cannot construct a sentence in kiswahili. Kids with YouTube accents with parents who silently compete on who's child speaks more kizungu 😂
@Nyamisa_Chela
Like, Kenya's rate of urbanization is a pathetic 27%. Even out of that 27%, the middle class could be represented by about less than 10-15%. She is making an observation from a clique she is part of and extrapolating it to everyone.
@TiskTusk
Class system in kenya are no different from anywhere else. Our problem is Government not fellow kenyans. You could easily trade places today with rich/poor and end up doing exactly what you called them out for 😂 the enemy is bad governance not fellow Kenyans
@Spectatedistant
Wewe unalia kuhusu nini. I see absolutely no value in daft superficiality especially with matters regarding culture and language. If you're not familiar with my standing on such matters, ask around.
@TiskTusk
Middle class will always copy the mannerisms of what they aspire to be. The average middle class in Abidjan or Dakar acts like a Frenchman in Paris,same for those in Accra or Nairobi a mixture of British and American mannerisms.
@TiskTusk
Upper deck middle class and elite fall in that class but mwananchi wa kawaida just educate his kid and doesn't care about accents.Lower middle class where most people fall don't get amazed by a lifestyle they can't afford.
@TiskTusk
How people in Matuu try to ape the British man in a material way is beyond me.
Maybe a phenomenon among the Kenyan elite and middle class. But that's about it.
But maybe that's her point but she put it across poorly.
@TiskTusk
This is the same observation I had with Ndii and his charade against the middle class.
He just makes observations about a very small clique that he is in and doesn't reflect the majority of kenyans.

@beth_kasinga
I have learnt that there are many different Kenya's and many times, multiple Kenya's can be in the same room each thinking we are one... But we really arent
@TiskTusk
This is true, this weekend I went raundi mwenda deep in Naivasha, past olkaria huko, folks huko are very different, when you step outside your bubble you learn quite a lot!!
