Oh you guys! If Tuesday was our worst day in memory, today might have been our best, certainly for years. The shop was heaving. We are so very grateful and frankly a bit "tired and emotional." We are not open tomorrow but we will be in the shop working on the orders we have.

The chaps at Mother Kelly's chip shop in Petersfield decided they had to close the other day... they drove round nursing homes, care homes and a hospice giving away sacks of potatoes they couldn't use... and left the last half sack outside our door for the staff. The good guys!

We deal with a lot of people disposing of the property (books) of deceased loved ones. Understandably, for many, the value that the person had to them transfers to their things. We spend much time gently helping people untangle those feelings. Value is not the same as money.

Not sure if we should be embarassd by this or not. One of the things about having the shop empty is that you find yourself in all the unfamiliar nooks and crannies. All these books we bought as "New Stock" and weren't sold at the time. By 'the time' I mean the 1950s-1970s
