Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic the right to public protest in Ireland has been determined by the "wokeness" of the protest rather than the threat to public health. In other words if it's woke enough it's safe enough. Ask any politician.
This protest in Dublin yesterday got a 'woke pass' from the Gardai. So did the big BLM ones last year. Anti-lockdown protests? No woke pass, meet with barricades and force if necessary.
From now on once you are near the goal line just jump over the tackler and score... on 2nd thoughts why wait until you are near the goal line just jump over every tackle anywhere on the field... and just when we are asking players to tackle lower. Completely logical?🤨🤨🤨

A smug comment from a liberal elite politician who will himself do nothing to solve the housing crisis from his cocooned bubble in Brussels and thinks this contribution is making a difference.
@Vincent_Hogan
Vincent you have to remember that these tough lads are all "high achievers" and what is even more important to remember is all their achievements have been reached on a high stool.🤣🤣🤣
France conceded a total of 7 penalties (5 in their Own half).
Wales conceded a total of 23 penalties (17 in their own half). Most of those penalties conceded near the end of the game and they received 2 yellows for all those infringements.
Context?
@IrishTimes
Sounds like a nice idea until you try to define what exactly constitutes a "Hate Crime". Also, the people who will get to define a hate crime are probably the last people who we should trust to do it i.e. Politicians
Bizarre law amomaly - Penaud scored a try despite being tackled without then ball. Outcome, Ntamack has to kick the conversion out wide, which he missed. Had Penaud not scored France would have been awarded a penalty try i.e. 7pts. That missed conversion could prove crucial!
@Michael_O_Regan
The fact that it was recommended to NPHET back in Feb that they begin collecting data on antigen testing and they ignored the advice and now say they have no data on antigen testing does not look good.
I have no doubt the Irish Rugby Squad will never forget that amazing evening spent with Marvellous Marvin Hagler before RWC 2003. What an inspiration and a real gentleman. "Starve the doubt, feed the faith." R.I.P.
@piersmorgan
There's nothing worse than people being woke & offended on your behalf, particularly when they never asked if we were offended to begin with. As far as I can tell Irish people are not that insecure that we are offended by a Leprechaun as a mascot. What next offended by ☘️☘️☘️?
Watching the Masters over the weekend, I am more convinced than ever, Paul McGinley is the best color commentator in golf. Not alone does he tell us the shot the payers should play but he also tells us the though process of the player in making their decision. Brilliant analysis.
@pickover
In theory yeas but in practice no.
The hardware ie ball and frame eventually wear out through friction. The mass of the ball changes and so does its flight so it misses the tray or the tray or frame wears out. Not sure which happens 1st or how long it would take. But inevitable.
@hazechu
I always imagine the people who are cowardly enough to do this will be very easily located if Ireland ever goes to war. They will all be found hiding under the bed in their parents spare room. When you see them in that light you can only pity them.

President Higgins is now in his 2nd and final term. He seems to believe that he and his wife are now answerable to nobody. The Government need to remind him asap of his constitutional responsibilities or he and his wife will continue to run amok over the next 3 years.

@LarryPDonnelly
Activist hiding is plain sight masquerading as journalist, which is an abuse of a privileged platform. Is it any surprise people continue to lose confidence in the media when this is supposed to pass as fair and balanced journalism.
Keep in mind the shocking forward pass in the lead up to the 1st Pen. People wonder why coaches get so upset with referees. Most frustrating part is there are zero consequences for Mike Adamson. He is promoted to the 6 Nations despite his performance.
@barrymward
Dreadful contribution from Senator Boylan to suggest Senator Ward does not fully understand the legislation base on the fact that he is white, a man and middle class. Is debate in the Senate beginning to slip to the lows we regularly witness in the Dáil?
@RobertQAtDell
@iseult
A brave statement by Iseult White, because the paradox of the Liberal agenda is that Iseult will likely be attacked by the people who claim to have her "best interests"at heart. As can be seen by Amnesty Int. attempting to deny people with divergent views access to free speech.
France yellow card for pulling down a maul, fine.
Wales 5 consecutive penalties before a yellow (too many), then a 2nd yellow immediately (correct). Then warns Wales again but no yellow i.e. the 3rd yellow was never coming. Refereeing the context of the penalty and not the law.
@GaryLineker
Strange how some people who have never competed in sport think that winning is all that matters i.e. if you don't win you are a "loser". The value in competing honestly to the best of your ability is a life skill everybody should try to acquire. If your lucky winning is the bonus

Last Saturday, despite medical advice, hundreds of selfish people attended Black Lives Matter protests. The government, the media and Garda (probably because they were told to) looked the other way. As a result Irish people will die. Possibly front line workers or the elderly.
@colettebrowne
Students suffering more than people who have lost their jobs, businesses or can't pay their mortgage is a dubious claim. Boredom is not an excuse for putting other peoples lives at risk. The notion that they get a pass b'cause of their age doesn't wash. They're old enough to vote
Spot on Michael. As far as I am aware, nobody working in the public service has lost €1 in income since the pandemic began. So being reminded of everybody 'sacrifices they have made' is just irritating.
Government ministers should spare us the ‘people have made huge sacrifices’ line today. We all know that only too well! Give us the facts and what the future brings.

@pb4p
The usual desperately predictable slogans for the far left. After 10 years in the Dáil at near €100k per annum + expenses + allowances + pension, Richard can't be far away from membership of the millionaires club himself.

@hazechu
Meaningless political statement. Everybody knows it is only a small group of thugs causing "issues" like assaulting the Guards. If anything it is pointing the finger at the Guards for somehow creating divisiveness. It rarely works when you try to negotiate with a mob.
What a phenomenal life lesson from an extraordinary young man. If our youth could take his advice to ignore the comments and opinions of people they do not know or more importantly do not respect their lives would be so much easier.

Humanity and social media at its worst. Yes I’m a black man and I live every day proud that I am. No one, or no one comment, is going to make me feel any different. So sorry if you were looking for a strong reaction, you’re just simply not going to get it here 👊🏾
Speaking soon to

Of course you are entitled to comment. But your original tweet is very disappointing. As a well paid public official, if that's your best suggestion for solving the housing crisis your contribution is zero. Its the type of comment you would hear from some know all in a pub.
Referees of the caliber of JP are hard to find. I understand the RFU are cutting costs but to let go somebody with his skill set is hard to fathom. I'm sure other Unions must be lining up to offer him a job. Good luck with your next move JP.
My SSE Airtricity bill has gone from 13.53c per unit to 21.34c per unit in 12 months (57.7% Increase). Must be the increase in the price of oil... Hold on SSE Airtricity provide "100% Green Electricity"🤔🤔🤔

Lavanini got 5 weeks for nearly taking Cian Healy's head off less than a month ago. The credibility of the disciplinary process is becoming a joke.🤡🤡🤡🤡
@bernardjackman
Ridiculously good finish, impossible to stop that sort of athleticism. McKenzie did everything he could do. But also a top drawer assist pass. Possibly the best assist and finish you will see for a long time.
Aside from the fact that he nearly blew me out of it when I suggested Munster’s marginally younger players *might* actually learn from Jason Jenkins,
@Murray_Kinsella
was brilliant here. (And
@bernardjackman
, too, afterwards👂 : )
Iseult you must know the" twitter narrative"dictates that if you disagree with anything somebody says you must disagree with everything they say and conversely if you agree with anything they say you automatically agree with everything they say. Insane but that's Twitter for you.
Shocking news re sudden death of Gary Halpin, mountain of a man loved by all who knew him. A legend of the game here his loss will be felt especially in

Well said Brigid. The "First Lady"following in her husband's footsteps and inserting herself into politics. This has become an ongoing feature of President Higgins tenure. Also, when Russia is praising your intervention it is a strong indication you have made a serious error.

Paul do you think there's any chance for the 6 Nat? Stockdale & Lorimar injured, Zebo exiled. Full-back is a huge problem for the team. It will hard for Andy Farrell to ignore you like I did.😳😳 1st Irish cap at 50 a fairytale beginning & ending to a phenomenal rugby career.🙏🙏

RTE Against The Head tonight, Ireland win the psychological battle in Murrayfield and there is a new attack strategy emerging that is breaking down aggressive defences... England leading the way on this.
