It was utilized as an extension of the nearby navy base during world war 2 and then became a college shortly thereafter
There’s also a couple islands nearby as well called flour bluff, north
We had an impassioned debate on whether Ward Island (Home to Texas A&M Corpus Christi was an actual island.) Commish says yes. Jordan disagrees. Also whether there was enough Islands around for Texas A&M-CC to be called the Islanders.
I mean, San Marcos is in between Austin and SA and is a stone’s throw away from the SA DMA (with a much deeper and richer alumni base than UTSA at that) so I’m not surprised…
