We are aware of an inaccurate Tweet circulating making claims of nurse deaths in our ITU department. This claim is incorrect. No nurses have died in our ITU.
In direct response to retired doctor Peter Hilton’s comments in correspondence with The Times, 55 consultants – some of who worked with Dr Hilton – have come together proactively to reject his views in the strongest possible terms.

Family, friends and colleagues of Jenelyn Carter gathered to remember her at Morriston Hospital today. The moving and beautiful memorial service was live streamed to her family in the Philippines. Jenelyn, 41, passed away last week from COVID-19.

The Swansea Bay University Heath Board colleagues – who work across Morriston, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot hospitals - have written and signed a letter voicing their anger and making clear how such views have no place in the profession in the 21st century.
Due to the rising prevalence of COVID-19 in our communities, we strongly encourage healthcare staff and visitors to wear a face covering in all of our settings, particularly in clinical areas and those with high footfall.

We’re delighted to report that more than 19,000 people in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot have received their first dose of a Covid vaccination. Vaccination of the over 80s, some under 80s, and remaining care home residents and frontline health and social care staff continues.
Callum Fleming was making great progress recovering from a coma – only to deteriorate just as lockdown started. Callum became almost bedbound, but is now back on his feet with the support of a UK-first service
GP Covid-19 vaccinations over 80s has begun! Marcia Sturk, 82, was one of 100 patients @ Killay Medical Centre's Saturday clinic: “I was happy to get my vaccination, not just to protect myself, but others too.” All our GP surgeries will be vaccinating over 80s in next few weeks.
We are two weeks ahead of our vaccination schedule in Swansea Bay, which means we have started offering people aged 40-49 a vaccine, starting with the oldest.
Like previous appointments, we are contacting people in this group directly to arrange when to attend one of our MVCs.
