There are currently only two players in Men's College Basketball who are averaging 12 PPG, 5 RPG, and 5 APG while shooting 40%+ from the field and 35%+ from 3. They are Iowa State's Tamin Lipsey and Purdue's Braden Smith.

One of the many reasons I’m a big fan of Iowa State coach TJ Otzelberger. Questionable call especially with the no call on the other end and the crowd and players are upset. Does he blow up on the refs? No. You can tell he’s focusing on coaching his team in the huddle. Period.

In the first game this year, Samford lost to Purdue by 53. They proceeded to finish 29-5 & win their conference with the 5th best scoring offense in the country. Bucky McMillan coached high school hoops in 2020. Now he's taking Samford to their 1st NCAA Tourney in 24 yrs. Wow.

Someday I do hope college basketball fans realize Purdue doesn’t get called for fouls because they don’t foul/are coached that way. They are historically near the bottom of the country in steals per game and turnovers forced. Why? They don’t gamble. Straight up and down defense.

A lot of fans don’t understand what Purdue’s Zach Edey does that translates to the NBA. The answer is a lot. But in short, a 7’4 300 lb mountain beating guards down the court and not getting tired playing 35+ MPG is freakish. This and the ability to play above the rim is HUGE.

All jokes aside, with Zach Edey it’s not so much that he is “that” much taller. Most Power 5 programs have 7 footers. It’s the fact that we haven’t seen someone that height weighing 300 lbs with minimal body fat that plays 35 MPG and doesn’t get tired. Truly a unicorn.

An interesting note about Purdue basketball. There season opening 53 point victory over Samford is a Quad 2 victory. Samford is 20-3 after starting the season 0-2 and is 1st in the Southern Conference boasting the nations 4th best scoring offense. Wild stat 👀

In the final 7:40 of the half when Purdue’s Braden Smith went to the bench with 2 fouls, Purdue went on a… 24-9 run. If Purdue is doing this when Smith is nonexistent, I’m not sure what you do 😳

Purdue’s Braden Smith is closing in on the schools single season assists per game and total assists record. At 7.3 APG, it would put him second all time behind Bruce Parkinson’s 7.4 in 1974. Smith ranks 3rd nationally in APG this season. Floor general for the Boilers

The past 3 Men's National Champions (UCONN, Kansas, & Baylor) all had one thing in common. They caught fire from 3 in the tourney. They made at least 7.2 three's per game on 38.9%+ shooting. Teams this year that qualify are Dayton, Purdue, Northwestern, Kentucky, & Samford.

REALLY love this tape from Purdue’s Camden Heide. Double comes over and Heide is guarding AJ Storr so he does a quick flash hedge to body Tyler Wahl and has awareness to get in position to defend/disrupt the cutting Storr. Beautiful defense
