Gilroy "Dubs have tried to help smaller counties" Story few yrs ago, organised with GAA to facilitate S&C for number players from "smaller" counties in Abbotstown, to save travel home. Everything was going well for a few wks, then equipment was cleared out, by who? Dublin GAA 👍

Donegal blown up twice in the first 15 minutes for a fourth hand pass while trying to break down a packed Down defence.. Down denied a great goalscoring chance because the forward made the right decision and slipped a 4th hand pass. Get rid & let the game evolve naturally please!

Down leagues started on April 5th, clubs played 5 league games in April, 6 league games in May, 5 league games in June and Down were still involved in championship.. I don't understand why other counties can't follow suit? Friday night football into the bargain, weekends free! 🤷🏾‍♂️

It's relative easy to get younger players to make tackles but it's harder to encourage them to break tackles! Breaking a tackle can open up the whole game. Excellent 1v1 drill today that encourages the player on the ball to break the tackle using evasion skills & agility. 🏐🏐

Your own kickouts should be a platform to launch attacks from, few key coaching points; ➡️ Look short, invite a press! ➡️ Kick over the press ➡️ Anticipate break ball ➡️ Develop next phase ➡️ Isolate inside forwards It's very satisfying as a coach when risks become rewards! 🏐

Very easy to forget the career threatening injuries Luke Shaw has had, nearly lost his leg two years ago..Today he was absolutely outstanding, best player on the pitch, great to see! Top of the league January, who would have thought 😎 💪

3 Goalkeepers at training, use all 3, game starts with 2 GKs pinging 2 kick outs to the 3 man weaves, they work a score, then turn & receive a kick out from the 3rd goalkeeper and it's 3v3. Tomorrow at @stjosephsnewry coaching day Niall Morgan will have a host of these games! 🇧🇬

John Wooden "Time spent comparing yourself to others is time wasted." One of the best things you can do in sport or life is be yourself & this man certainly did that. In a GAA world often steeped in negativity he brought a bit of personality & colour to the game! Ádh mór TOB 👏

Another standout for me last night in Tyrone v Dublin game was the physical conditioning of both teams, 2 teams athletically in serious shape, lot of investment in proper s & c going on in both counties for a long time, obviously collectively huge player buy in also #culture

Over 400 coaches from all over Ireland attended @stjosephsnewry annual Coach Education Day. 14 years in the making, it's not become the biggest Coach Education event in Ireland but "the best!" In the words of Mick Bohan "Ive never seen anything like this" not bad for a bluffer 😊
