On a lighter note, I feel sorry for Israel at the International Court of Justice today. They don’t know that we, as South Africans, spend our lives arguing every possible major dispute in courts. This is our national sport—we were made for this. 😂
Rocked to my core at the news of Kiernan’s death. Though our lives went in different directions, and we hadn’t spoken in years, I’ll never forget the times we shared making music. He was destined for greatness from then. Deepest sympathies with Uncle Tony, Aunt Lynn and Steffan.
I’ve been appointed Lecturer at the

IR Department from 2022. Looking forward to my first full-time academic role, and to teaching and supervising a new generation of students.
🎉🕺🏽😁
From the disasters of state capture, to the president’s mystery money, to stage 6 rolling blackouts. Something’s gotta give. The ANC government is not coping.
The ANC has been telling South Africans to “trust the process” for 27 years. It’s time to stop trusting the process and start trusting our own eyes.

After years of toil and many moments of self-doubt, today I officially submitted my DPhil thesis to

Afriforum’s confused agenda is to defend apartheid’s symbols while trying to ban symbols of resistance against apartheid.
This agenda has nothing to do with “free speech” and everything to do with sanitising apartheid.
A robust and fascinating engagement with
@Julius_S_Malema
last night. We discussed Eskom, the Russia-Ukraine situation, and coalition politics.

Been in Oxford this week for a feedback meeting on my thesis, which happened earlier today. It was exacting and demanding, but ultimately very helpful. One step closer to Doctor Mpofu-Walsh, InshaAllah! 🙏🏽
Matters of public interest should be prosecuted by institutions that represent, and draw legitimacy from, the public. Handing prosecutorial power to a self-declared ethnic lobby group threatens democracy, and enables covert legal racism.

The delay of
#SONA2018
shows the importance of opposition pressure. In years gone by, the ANC would have steamrolled through. Now it can’t. That’s why we need a competitive parliament, whoever wins in 2019. Never again should one party ride roughshod over the people.
Can the President name any senior officials who have resigned or been fired for Covid-related corruption? Not just SIU reports that sit on shelves. Last year, he said he would leave “no stone unturned” after corruption was revealed.
#QuestionsForRamaphosa
As one of the president’s firmest critics, I think the speech he just delivered was excellent. A drastic preventative course is our country’s best hope of mitigating disaster. Universities must come to the party and shut down. Prevent the spread in your own circle.
#CoronaVirusSA
The unrest we’ve seen this week can’t be narrowly reduced to a sinister plot. Or any simple story. Doubtless, coordinated sabotage formed part of the picture. But it’s a mistake to dismiss the economic and social crises—driven by ANC failures—that also fuelled the turmoil.

Today’s testimony is not about how much you like President Cyril Ramaphosa. It’s about holding the ANC accountable as an institution for decades of deceit and destructive corruption. And that accountability must be pursued unapologetically and aggressively.

It’s official! Tomorrow, I drop an exclusive interview with former president Jacob Zuma. 🔥 Join

From his time on Robben Island, to spy claims, to current ANC politics, it was liiiiit. 💣

Thanks to
@MotsepeFoundtn
for inviting me to facilitate a dialogue with SRC leaders from all 26 SA universities today. Following the dialogue, R30m was donated to the SRCs for registration, fees and historic debt.

Our country has lost one of its finest broadcasters, analysts and public intellectuals.
I have lost a dear friend and a major mentor.
Thank you
@Eusebius
for setting the standard in so many ways. This is so desperately sad and unfair. 😭
Our country deserves more than government by teleprompter.
The president’s lectures bypass all the duties of accountability on which our democracy is founded.
One-way “addresses” might have made sense at the start of the pandemic, but they no longer serve a useful purpose.
The ANC is rightly honouring Charlotte Maxeke this year. However, they forgot to mention that, despite founding the Bantu Women’s League, Maxeke was never able to become a member of the ANC because the organisation only accepted men until 1943. Maxeke died in 1939.

A big one tonight: an exclusive with CJ Zondo. Is gov failing to implement his report, nearly a year later? His frankness surprised me. Tune in at 20.00 tonight. 🔥

I've just finished my next book.
It nearly extracted my soul, emotionally and intellectually, but I'm so proud of it.
Get ready, I'm coming for everything. It’s called: The New Apartheid.

Without a hint of irony, the DA expropriated everyone’s phone number without consent or compensation to say the EFF and ANC will encroach on personal space. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The MK Party will be elated by this. If the court hears this, it will hand MK a prime opportunity to mobilise on the eve of the election. It will keep MK in the headlines and further unite the party around a narrative of persecution—a narrative fmr pres Zuma thrives on.
The ANC appears to have five different positions on the land question. Each of these five positions evolves daily, depending on the audience. I’m starting to wonder if there’s a plan at all.
White supremacy involves inequality of privilege *and* inequality of punishment: white people are easily excused—and black people excessively penalised—for the same acts. It's a system founded on impunity and mercy for white people, and uncompromising harshness for everyone else.
The cat is out of the bag: I’ll be hosting the now-legendary Eusebius McKaiser Show on

ANC MPs today failed to offer a convincing case for avoiding a further inquiry into Phala Phala. Instead, they continued their party’s long record of constitutional defilement.
Every six months, we get a ‘new’ economic plan, which is just a repackaged old economic plan, thin on details. ‘Prioritising infrastructure’ has been a ‘priority’ since ‘94. The old ones are out of ideas, we need new blood. 😏

Shocking scenes from
#brackenfellhigh
. Every last one of those assailants must be brought to book.
The brazen assault and intimidation of peaceful protestors isn’t a “clash”, it’s a crime.
The broad and unqualified finding that internal political campaigns are merely "private affairs" harms accountability and sets a dangerous precedent in the fight against corruption—with implications far beyond Ramaphosa's specific campaign.

This story is wild. Dr Pedro Mzileni gave a lecture about colonialism. Next thing Afriforum complained to his university, and he was investigated. He eventually resigned because of what he went through. Listen…
