“An issue I’ve had with the greeks, and I’m sure some Eastern Orthodox themselves would agree with is the lack of precision in their theology. Are they able to properly articulate their positions on certain issues as well as ‘GroyperRapist1453’ can?“
@Hominoidean
@SlovakCatholic
Sure, what makes something ‘evolutionarily beneficial’ and why should I undertake that as my standard for morality and not other similar concepts, such as ‘economically beneficial’. If then you decide what makes something to be wrong, what happens if I simply reject that?
“Orthodox philosophy is not based on Aristotle, Neoplatonism or even Augustinianism. Our faith is as we reject all modern and ancient understandings of logic and metaphysics for Lossky. Care to learn more about real logic? Subscribe to our 850$ powerpoint slides.”
@Hominoidean
@SlovakCatholic
Ah right, you’re not able to justify or rebutt what I said so you’re going to now appeal to my personal opinion and feelings to try and justify a universal metric of morality. Lets say I don’t care about my health, what then? Lets say I do care but reject your system, then what?
A lot of Orthodox spend their time ‘learning’ about what Orthodoxy is by simply considering it as a negation of Roman Catholicism, because of this position they have less of a proper faith and instead an argumentative position.
@Hominoidean
@SlovakCatholic
Sure then, is a fallacious appeal to bandwagon your standard for morality? Lets say the 99% agree with me, would you then need to adhere to our belief? The vast majority of the world affirms a God, why don’t you? considering the majority do that is.
@Hominoidean
@SlovakCatholic
Uh no, you’re just stating that, its still a fallacy. I reject ‘evolutionary beneficial’ as a basis for morality, why should I adhere to that system; is it even objective?
@GennadiosX
@rwpopefrancis
RCC did NOT do worse than Islam; this is actually a crazy perspective. Orthodox were prevented from speaking on the faith, evangelizing, converting anybody under ottoman rule. Their churches were subject to destruction and turned into mosques, they were killed and genocided
“The Eastern-Rite will never tell you this but all the apostles actually worshipped in the Western-Rite, the so called Eastern-Rite is a modern innovation created by the Russians. All of our most holy Saints wrote in English and worshipped in the Western-Rite.”
“What the Eastern Orthodox and Catholics don’t understand about the Reconquista, is that its no longer a verbal movement, we decided to make it physical. Starting today we will be invading all main-line churches with Swords and Crusader armor. This is John Calvins prophecy.”
“Aquinas or Scotus. Call it”
“Pardon?”
“You know when this book released? 2014. Its been traveling 10 years to get here. And now its here.”
“And its either Aquinas or Scotus.”
“Look I gotta know what I stand to win.”
“Greiner.”
“What the worshippers of the Actus Purus God won’t tell you is that Thomas Aquinas actually read all the works of Palamas, but due to his demonic prelest and atheism he completely misunderstood him. This is where the Roman Catholic Church started.”
“If we read the Triads, Palamas perfectly understands how the western thomisitic system of Actus Purus inevitably leads to Atheism, This is why we as Orthodox affirm God actually does have potencies, such as the potency to stand on his tippy-toes”
“Do you want the meth or not?”
“I find it weird that they’re called scholastics yk, I aint ever see em at those book fairs.”
“Jesse, scholastic just means school-men, it has nothing to do with the bookfairs.”
“How come I aint ever seen them in school then?”
“Jesse are you retarded?”
“I’m a western rite man, I could just go home.”
“You could.”
“Make it worth your while I can send you AI translations of Palamas”
“Let me ask you something, if the Rite you followed brought you to apostasy, what use was the Rite?”
@Hominoidean
@SlovakCatholic
Right so you concede then you can’t properly justify morality without appealing to a consensus. If I then invoke the standard of evolutionary biology, can I then remove certain groups of people by their biological/evolutionary drawbacks? such as a minority may be unusually violen
Anybody who says this unironically hasn’t read St Augustines works nor his genius formulations on the trinity and faith, while without error, you cannot deny he was one of if not the smartest Father of his era.
@IacobRuthenicus
Augustine is more akin to Origen of Mopsuestia in that he is a mixed bag.
The difference, still, is that he was never condemned, of course.
“If we look at St Augustine’s confessions, we can see clearly the prohibition of a husband and wife sharing the same bed. Further, in that passage, we see a condemnation of husband and wife even being able to see each other. This is why we must establish a state wide niqab law.”
The more one reads St Gregory Palamas, the more you realize reading one or two of his individual works will not suffice. His doctrine and teachings are explained, expanded and clarified throughout a vast variety of work. I emphasize the need to read a vast quantity of his works.

From my memory there were 5 massacres of Greeks for absolutely no reason.
Samothrace (09/1821).
Constantinople (04/1821).
Hung Patriarch Gregory V.
Crete (06/1821).
Cyprus (07/1821)
And then Tripolista. They also completely banned Evangelization and Conversion.

They can’t grasp Heaven isn’t simply some material construct God created but actually a heavenly kingdom with perfect participation of God, They’re not better then Muslims who say hell and Heaven are created entities of pleasure or physical fire.

“The divine power is not mixed with a contrary, i.e., impotence... For God is life itself, goodness itself, and every such thing, not in the sense that he is one thing and not another, but in the sense that he is not each of these by participation”
WHAT IS A HYPOSTASIS?
‘Hypostasis’ or ‘personhood’ are terms used synonymously regarding the individual ‘persons’ of the Trinity, that being the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. An issue arises however, especially with the rise of uncorrected laymen: what is a hypostasis?🧵
“Get to counting Nestorian, don’t you know Christ actually had 1 nature? We can see this clearly professed in the Fathers when Cyril states 2+2=4, this is analogy for the natures of Christ. You stupid Nestorian EO’s don’t understand Christ is the legendary 4.”
@YariLogos
Best part is seeing them scramble on where they derived using ‘real’ distinction as the classification, considering their incredible distaste for ‘scholastic’ terms.
@theenoquian2
I notice this in a lot of other groups but it seems as though Orthodoxy is the most prevalent with this ‘debate-brain’ mindset. I pray it goes away
@Acolyte83349490
Pino’s book also classifies the distinction not to be a ‘real’ distinction, in his other words he expands on God being Actus Purus. He in page 286 of his bk claims Palamas viewed the distinction as ‘conceptual’ or ‘purely notional’. He also expands on the palamite synods viewing

Yes those things happen, yet that doesn’t justify the need for XYZ morality or that we should at all follow the system of ants. You’re making statements that don’t properly correlate to the justification of morality.
@theenoquian2
Doesn’t help the image of Orthodoxy when the ‘E-Orthodox’ community spends their entire time viciously debating anybody and everyone on the most minor issues, while neither side is qualified and whilst being uncharitable.

You’ve genuinely made these numbers up, proper manuscript dating puts those to 2nd, 3rd, 4th century. This is of no contest to the vast majority of scholars. We have patristics aswell that appeal to these scriptures far far earlier then your “1400s” date.
St Maximos confers similarily saying creatures themselves have the ability to actualize passive potency, they’re able to themselves gain knowledge, acquire heat energy etc. That these however do not apply to God.

Amazing thread, I don’t see where the denial of a divine-human hypostasis arrived from but it’s always good to have more information on this topic.
Approach 2# God alone is absolutely immutable: • Thus in every creature there is a potentiality to change either as regards substantial existence, as in the case of things corruptible; or as regards locality only, as in the case of the celestial bodies [which in the physics of
