Kevin McCarthy: "Stop using taxpayer money to do their own wokeism. A military cannot defend themselves if you train them in woke. We don't want Disneyland to train our military."
Just now on MLB Network Radio, Justin Morneau asked Dave Roberts how much he enjoys writing in Betts, Ohtani, and Freeman every day. Roberts responded, "I'm sure it was like Gardy writing Mauer, Morneau and Cuddyer."
Magic Number = ZERO!

... 2019... AL Central Champions!!
What. A. Season!!
Congratulations to all!! Twins players, coaches, manager, front office and fans!
Still in awe of Jim Kaat noticing Ryne Harper throwing his curveball with his index finger. Kaat is so good... I seriously think I could listen to him talk baseball all day! He's a legend who keeps up with the game. His stories/memories are great!! I just really enjoy it!
If the
#MNTwins
season started today:
C: Mitch Garver
1B: Marwin Gonzalez
2B: Luis Arraez
3B: Miguel Sano
SS: Jorge Polanco
LF: Eddie Rosario
CF: Byron Buxton
RF: Max Kepler
DH: Nelson Cruz
2C: Alex Avila
UT: Ehire Adrianza
4OF: Jake Cave
26: Willians Astudillo
Close?
"This year is different."
"This offense can compete with anyone."
"The Twins pitching is just as good as the Yankees pitching."
"This team doesn't care about the Yankees/Twins history."
--- Me, over the past month
Offer Gerrit Cole... 8 years... $272 million... ($34 million/year)
Make him say no... And I'm certain he'd still say no... but make that offer and see what he says.
I am SO happy for former
#MNTwins
RHP Kyle Gibson (
@kgib44
) who made his first all star team this year. What a year he has had! Amazing person having a great year, and I couldn't be happier! Congrats Kyle!
In addition, the
#MNTwins
will NOT be releasing players on minor league contracts. In light of so many teams making many roster cuts, the Twins are showing a commitment to their young players, to player development and to, frankly, doing the right thing for these players.
The Minnesota Twins have committed to paying their minor league players a $400-a-week stipend and their full benefits, including health insurance, through Aug. 31, which is around when the minor league season was scheduled to end, a source tells ESPN.
Remember when the
#MNTwins
lost on Thursday night and I kept getting a bunch of people tweeting me that the Twins were about to fade and maybe just couldn't beat good teams? That was fun!
Just a reminder to apparently so many Twins fans out there... 1.) The Magic Number is FOUR with just SEVEN games left to play (four vs Royals, 3 vs Tigers)
2.) The AL Central lead is four games.
3.) The Twins are 95-60...
A little perspective, y'all...
Just guessing, but here is how I think that the
#MNTwins
will set their starting staff for the Yankees:
Game 1: Jose Berrios
Game 2: Randy Dobnak
Game 3: Jake Odorizzi
Game 4 (if needed): Bullpen
Game 5 (if needed): Jose Berrios
What say you?
What do you think?
DFA Kepler and Gallo.
Bring up Wallner and Larnach.
IL Buxton and Correa. (use the All Star Break to their advantage.
Call up Chris Williams and Jose Miranda.
IL Pagan. Call up Patrick Murphy. ff
Listening to Ron Howard speaking at the Adobe Max conference... He is 64 years old, and he noted that this is his 60th year in the entertainment industry. It's like, you know that, but to hear it and now type is makes me think, "WOW!"
Manager: Rocco Baldelli
Bench Coach: Derek Shelton
Hitting Coach: James Rowson
Asst Hitting Coach: Rudy Hernandez
Pitching Coach: Wes Johnson
Asst Pitching Coach: Jeremy Hefner
Third Base Coach/IF: Tony Diaz
First Base/OF Coach: Tommy Watkins
Coach: Bill Evers
All deserve credit!
#MNTwins
fans, it's OK to admit that Eddie Rosario has been a terrific player for the Twins, that he is entertaining to watch, and that non-tendering him is the right decision for the team moving forward.
.
@Ken_Rosenthal
to Triston McKenzie (paraphrase): "You struggled against the
#MNTwins
earlier in the season. What was the difference tonight?"
McKenzie (if honest): "Well, Ken, Buxton, Polanco, Jeffers, Kirilloff, and Larnach weren't in the lineup this time. So that helps."
Sonny Gray could win the next two AL Cy Young Awards, but if Chase Petty gets called up to the big leagues in 2025 and strikes out a batter,
#TwinsTwitter
will go crazy!
From 2004 until the concussion of 2013, Joe Mauer hit .323/.405/.468 (.873) with 282 doubles and 105 HR. He walked 616 times with 564 strikeouts. And he was a three-time Gold Glove CATCHER. 6 All Star games, 5 Silver Sluggers and an MVP.
#HallOfFamer
Byron Buxton continues to mention fishing with his son, getting them into school, the comfort and happiness of his wife and kids, all clearly are very important to him and this decision.
#FamilyFirst
Just chatted with Joe Mauer at Patinella's Chicken Grill. Asked if he missed spring training, he said, Not really. He still misses competing but not all he had to do to get ready. Says he is keeping plenty busy. Not a nicer Star in sports.
Note:
You can say that Jose Berrios isn't pitching well. He's not.
But too many people are questioning his drive, his effort or even saying he doesn't care. Someone tonight has said he must not be working hard. Let's just leave it at he's not pitching well right now. That's it.

So I watched Hustle last night on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler. Yes, Anthony Edwards was terrific, but Juancho Hernangomez was really, really good... obviously at the basketball stuff, but also at the acting stuff. That was a really good movie. Well done, Lebron!
I'm not a big hockey guy, but when you live in Warroad, you can't help but get into it a bit. Today was a pretty cool day with TJ Oshie bringing the Stanley Cup here. Even cooler, Gigi Marvin and her gold medal were here too. Town of 1700 people. Not too shabby.
#HockeytownUSA
Two years ago today,
@Arraez_21
entered for the injured Jonathan Schoop down 0-2 in the count to Edwin Diaz, who was throwing 98–100 miles per hour, and worked an epic walk.
#Legend
#MNTwins
I think this lineup could be real solid!
Polanco SS
Rosario LF
Cruz DH
Cron 1B
Sano 3B
Schoop 2B
Kepler RF
Castro/Garver C
Buxton CF
Now... to the bullpen...
Quick thought: If I had told you before the season that in mid-September, the
#MNTwins
would go to Cleveland and start Devin Smeltzer, Lewis Thorpe and Randy Dobnak... what would you have told me?
Taylor Rogers emotionless as he strikes out two and gets a weak grounder to end the game and record his first save of the year... That was sheer dominance.
My mom just called to tell me that the owners of the Dairy Queen in Perham just brought them a couple of blizzards. No cost. They're just delivering treats around town. Remember to support your local businesses and dining places if you are able.
I'm not a Trump supporter...
I'm definitely not a supporter of people who violently protest or throw stuff at police officers for, you know, doing their job.
Geez, I've never once thought of the 2018 trade deadline activity as a negative, much less been haunted by it... I would assume the team non-tendering David Ortiz would "haunt" most
#MNTwins
fans a bit more.
Dozier to the Dodgers... I am sad, ,but I fully understand... What a career Brian Dozier had with the
#MNTwins
... Sometimes the business of baseball stinks... and now I have to tell my daughter.
For his 6 innings tonight, Devin Smeltzer earned $3,055. Will earn another $15,278 days before starting again.
As a non 40-man player at AAA, he likely would have made around $2,200 for the entire month of May with the Red Wings, even less for his month of April in Pensacola.
In August, Austin Martin is hitting .393/.550/.607 (1.157) with 3 doubles and a homer. Also, 10 walks and just 5 strikeouts. And 6 steals in 7 chances.
Trevor Larnach? .400/.550/.733 (1.283) with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers. 10 walks with 6 strikeouts.
40 PA for each.
Jose Miranda leads the
#MNTwins
organization in: BA (.345), SLG (.588), OPS (.996), Hits (110), HR (22), RBI (62), Runs (66), XBH (40), Total Bases (194). And he's second in OBP (.408)
Thank you, Taylor Rogers (
@trogers34
), the Twins player rep... He's had a lot going on in the 2ish years that he has held that role. It's a thankless job, but from what I've heard, he was great in keeping
#MNTwins
players updated. That's a lot of stress.
2023 season was all about the playoffs. Let guys take extra time to get back. Turnover the bullpen right at the end of the season. Rid themselves of the dumb 0-18 narrative. Won a series. Exciting for the future. And hopefully any dumb thoughts of firing Rocco will stop!
The voice of two full generations of
#MNTwins
fans, Dick Bremer (
@dbremer_pxp
) is a legend, a huge Twins fan and historian. Huge shoes to fill. He should be a Twins Lifetime Achievement Award winner this year. He should be a Twins Hall of Famer next year. Congratulations Dick!
Alex Kirilloff (
@AKirilloff19
) has played 100 games in 2018. He is hitting .350 with 34 doubles, seven triples, 16 home runs and 84 RBI between Cedar Rapids and Ft. Myers. I'm just in awe of what he's done, period, especially after missing the 2017 season!
One positive... I could sit and listen to Jim Kaat all day long, so if nothing else, we get to hear his great stories and his perspectives on the game for this series in New York. Yes, old school, but again, does his homework and just exudes love of the game! Should be a HOF!
The
#MNTwins
have given up two draft picks this offseason.
Their Comp B pick (67 overall) for 4 years of Kenta Maeda, and their 3rd round pick for 5 years of Josh Donaldson. This is no longer your older brother's Twins.
Marwin Gonzalez has hit a game-tying home run in the bottom of the 9th in a World Series against Kenley Jansen... He's not going to get worried during an 8th inning at bat in a mid-August game in Milwaukee... Nice having a guy like that around.
