Relentless abuse, getting repeatedly targeted by ForWomenScot, called a pervert, padeo, misogynist, liar - but its days like today that makes it bearable. My wee org winning a big victory in the courts and polling that shows (what I already know) a majority favour trans equality.

When I first started campaigning for LGBT equality I remember some heterosexual men angry that they were... erm heterosexual. “I’m not heterosexual” they’d say until they realised what it meant. Then they’d moan about why ‘normal’ people need to be called anything at all.

Eight years I’ve been working on this (with amazing colleagues). Eight years to help support a tiny group of marginalised people to be able to change a bit of paperwork with some dignity. Regardless of the outcome I don’t think I can ever forgive the UK Gov.

You’re going to hear a lot of people today telling you that a ban on conversion therapy for LGB makes sense, while exactly the same thing for trans people doesn’t. It’s lies. You cannot change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity, by torture or otherwise.
