Got to work to find an elderly gentleman has been sat outside waiting for me. He’s been really anxious all weekend. Housing benefit has stopped because he couldn’t manage to digitally send proof of pension, despite explaining his struggles. Digital exclusion is a huge issue
Bumped into the
@yarmschool
massif during Rishi's visit to the High Street today. Lots of positivity, very happy that the Chancellor could make time to speak to such an enthusiastic bunch!
4 sessions and almost 20 thousand steps today. Sunburnt face (such a ginger). Sat in the chair and my mum brought me food and a glass of red wine. Can’t move.
Vote Labour 🌹
My mum lost her purse in Middlesbrough this morning & a very kind person drove all the way to Marske to drop it off. They left it in her porch. She wants to say thank you but has no idea who found it. She spent hours stressed & looking for it & is so grateful it has been found ❤️
Just been a bit cheeky. Had an appointment with a man this morning who is really isolated and no tv or radio. So I asked, got the funding agreed & went to Argos & bought him a radio. He’d said if he had a radio to listen to he wouldn’t feel so alone.
CV updated and out there now. Sadly. Doubt I'll ever find anything as unique, varied, interesting or as brilliant as working for the amazing
@annaturley
though. One in a million ❤️
Small boats are THE issue in my surgeries and on the doors. We have to do whatever it is takes to end what most northern voters at least think is an insult to our ability to police our borders, and a huge cost in terms of the resultant hotel bills.
All of a sudden, I’m being fast tracked through the system for a tumour in my salivary gland. Consultant thinks it’s benign, because to be not, is very, very rare. Ultrasound & biopsy on Monday. Surreal & a bit scary if I’m honest. Keeping busy. All will be fine.
Onwards…
Got offered a new job today, which I’ve accepted. I’ll be running a new project to prevent people sinking further into poverty/ prevent poverty/ stop them going to loan sharks/high interest lenders/ help them see a way out and a future etc... chuffed
Tonight we drank, did video chat & celebrated the end of Corbynism. Feels bittersweet though. So good 'have our party back' but we've lost so much. We've lost the brilliantly talented MP
@annaturley
, lost the job I love & tories have control.
@Keir_Starmer
please do it right 🌹🤞
Keir Starmer: "Think very carefully about what Suella Braverman is committing your government to do... because without a serious Home Secretary, there can be no serious government, & he cannot be a serious Prime Minister..."
#KingsSpeech
Wow!! Marske Branch voted overwhelmingly to reselect our brilliant MP
@annaturley
tonight. Amazing turn out and huge support for Anna from my branch. 3 out of 3. Smashed it again!!
My client’s just been awarded the Enhanced Daily Living and Enhanced Mobility components of PIP, backdated to August. She is now £152.15 per week better off. Both of us are over the moon. Happy Friday.
This is totally offensive. There are people from Redcar constituency who have taken their own lives as a direct result of Tory cuts. I have worked with their families and know the hardship they endured and the devastation caused. Not something to joke about
Seeing what’s happened over the exam results is horrendous and I’m so frustrated to not be still in my previous job. Our team with our brilliant MP Anna would’ve been straight on this and fighting for the people of Redcar constituency. No voice standing up for people anymore
Still in the office at 7.45 pm on eve of the election. Just had a call to say
@annaturley
team have overturned a PIP decision. Enhanced rate awarded and backdated to July 2018.
This is why we keep battling on ❤️🌹
2 great campaign sessions today in Kirkleatham & Wheatlands with
@annaturley
. I had conversations with several life long Tory voters who are coming over to Labour. One elderly man who has only ever voted Tory said he will never vote for them again after the mess they have made 🌹
Just heard about a school providing all the kids with a plain white t shirt and they then decorate them as their favourite book. Absolutely brilliant idea. No expense to parents. So simple.
My dad was my biggest influence in music and politics. He got me my Labour Party membership when I turned 16 and took me to all the meetings and out canvassing. I really wanted him to hold on to see a Labour government again. I will miss him so much
As predictable as always, the Redcar tory MP brings out the ‘illegal immigrant’ card. Pathetic attempt to distract from the real news and pacify the racists
Just had a single working mum in asking for help. 3 teenage daughters who have periods. She said the most difficult thing is having to restrict them going in the bath because she can’t afford the gas for the hot water. They don’t have a shower & can’t afford to get one
Over the moon that Normanby & Ormesby branch have voted to reselect
@annaturley
tonight. Fantastic turn out again from members of Redcar CLP who have come out in support of our brilliant MP. 4 out of 4. Smashed it yet again.
He needs to come tell that to the man I’m currently helping who has broken his back, can’t work & turned down for PIP. Or the teacher who’s been dismissed due to severe long term stress, lost her home & no money for food & fuel costs. These are 2 of 100’s
Conservative MP Lee Anderson says there isn't a massive need for food banks in the UK, it’s just that people “cannot cook properly, they can't cook a meal from scratch, they cannot budget.”
My youngest child voted for the first ever time last Thurs. She told me tonight she went to the polling station on her own & didn’t have a clue what to do. The staff were helpful & she soon got the hang of it. She voted
@UKLabour
for
@luke_myer
& is delighted with the result 🌹
Another PIP decision just in. Gone from zero award to Enhanced Daily Living & Enhanced Mobility. This is £152.15 per week. And backdated. Times are really, really hard. People shouldn’t have to fight to get what they are entitled to.
My dad’s funeral this morning was incredible. What a turnout. Politics was a theme throughout, obviously. He was truly a one off and a very special funny man. Rest in peace dad. I love you xxx
Been fighting a PIP refusal since last August. Had a written transcript of the medical assessment which I sent to DWP at MR stage. They ignored it.
Tribunal just phoned, overturned decision & awarded enhanced for both components. Huge backdate coming. No need for appeal hearing
My dad died recently. His mum died when he was 12. She was 42. M’bro Bereavement Services have been incredible. They’ve told us the exact plot where dad’s mum is buried. Looking at putting some of dad’s ashes with his mother. Can’t explain the comfort this is bringing to us ❤️
Jacob Young is having a bit of a melt down isn’t he?! Imagine what he’ll be like when it’s his own campaign in a GE! Moaning about negativity. He just can’t cope with the truth. 13 years of Tory failure wrecking our country and peoples lives.
@JacobYoungMP
Where did you ask? I’m a constituent and wasn’t asked. I do not support this one bit. How could you possibly deny helping those who are suffering?
If you have a terminal illness & you don’t ‘fight it’, it doesn’t mean you’re not brave. My dad was the most awkward person ever to get a terminal diagnosis. He didn’t fight it at all, hated it, refused treatment, but he was brave. Accepting your fate = bravery RIP dad ❤️
My dad died a few months ago. Im taking my mum to Paris today. I’m using my dad’s rucksack - and inside have found his stamped
@ClevelandWayNT
passport, a pen and a sweet wrapper ❤️
Had appointment with a client this morning who is an asylum seeker. Young daughter was bullied when first came here. She took up boxing, is now 14 & about to compete in national championship. Amazing young woman 💪
3 years ago this morning I popped back to the office, to pick up my wet clothes. I’d got soaked on polling day and had to change for the count. As I was locking up, an elderly man came up to me and just said “This is a sad, sad day for Redcar”. I was in bits.
Just received a letter informing me of a £3657 backdated PIP payment which has been awarded. Very happy client. Another award going from zero to enhanced. I realise I’m a stuck record, & we do far more than challenging PIP decisions, but these original decisions are just bonkers.
Our MP has blocked me on FB today. I’ve never once engaged with him on there as he restricted me being able to comment as soon as he won the seat. Now he won’t even let me see his page. Wonder why.
My team helps hundreds of grateful people from my constituency every year but it is always special when someone recognises one of them for making a real difference to their life.
@SarahFreeney
- I'm proud of you.
Jacob Young really does incite racial hatred doesn’t he? The comments on his Facebook posts are utterly vile and totally dehumanising and he just continues to stoke and stir. Disgusting. People of Redcar should be ashamed.
Many of people I see are desperate to work. I see people who can’t can’t afford a phone. Can’t afford the bus fare to travel to an interview. Can’t afford food. Can’t afford clothes. Can’t afford electricity. Are tired, hungry, beaten down. It’s nothing to do with work ethic.
She’s the best of the best. I’m over the moon Anna is standing again. Hard working, kind, determined and a true fighter who always stands up for what’s right. Proud to call her a friend
Go Anna 💪❤️🌹❤️🌹
Redcar and Cleveland means the world to me but for too long, we’ve been told we should put up with second best. I can’t stand by and let that go on. That’s why I’m standing to be selected as your Labour MP again.

I’ve worked in advice and casework for a long time and have dealt with some incredibly difficult cases. But I’ve never known things so bleak with no prospect of them improving. Absolutely dreading with winter. Real crisis ahead
Back from a few days annual leave to another PIP success:
‘Hi Sarah, DWP have called to inform me they’ve changed the decision and I’ve been awarded PIP. Thank you for all your help, I couldn’t have done it without you’
A lot of lovely cases amongst the really sad ones
@RachelCurtis82
I’m so worried about people who are too scared to cancel their d/debit because they are afraid of debt. So many elderly people who have never got into debt before, are terrified what will happen if they don’t pay what they’ve been told to. They won’t be able to eat
