The first song I learned to play written by David Matthews was Recently, on my upright, which is also the bass I brought to our first full band rehearsal in 1991. By the end of the rehearsal we decided electric bass was the sound we needed for the songs changing my life forever.

I've seen some folks suggest I got covid while still wearing a mask. There are a few places on tour we felt safe not having masks on under the assumption everyone around us was vaccinated. I think this assumption was wrong. It Is my belief I caught it while maskless. Masks work.
