Gov. Henry McMaster’s Office has issued a revision to Executive Order 2020-16, Section 1(C) that reopens public boat landings and ramps in South Carolina for the purpose of launching or retrieving a boat beginning at noon tomorrow.
While we've been asked to stay home to slow the spread of COVID-19, if you do happen to go fishing during this time of
#socialdistancing
, we encourage you to practice striped bass distancing. Keep at least 6 feet, or two large stripers, in between you and others. 🎣🐟
SCDNR law enforcement officers will be out enforcing crowd control and public safety with other LE agencies across the state in the coming weeks.
While enjoying the outdoors and our waterways, avoid gathering in large groups. While boating, keep moving and don’t raft up!
How does that song go? Who let the hogs out? 🤔🐗
Thanks Crystal Lynn for sharing this video of her interesting ride to work this morning in Bamberg County.
The Home or Work Order issued today allows for continued outdoor recreation, including hunting and fishing.
While engaging in any outdoor recreation, please remember that you must maintain a safe distance of at least 6 feet from those who don't live with you.
➡️ LEAVE IT ALONE! ⬅️
As you are exploring nearby or working around the yard, you may come across a "lost fawn."
That fawn is NOT lost or abandoned, it is simply waiting for Mom to return. Please do not attempt to rescue the fawn. Not only is it a bad idea, it’s also illegal.
Earlier, SCDNR officers assisted Merriwether FD and ECSO with residential rescues due to flooding in Edgefield County. SCDNR was able to get an elderly woman and her cat to safety.
Great work, Game Wardens!
SCDNR has documented the state's first black and white tegu lizard in Lexington.

Standing dead trees, or snags, may appear to be useless, even eyesores, but they are valuable components of wildlife habitat and are frequently in short supply. They can even be the key limiting factor in a wildlife population.
Hey friends, we'd like to remind you to PLEASE not pick, cut, knock down or otherwise take the sunflowers from Draper WMA.
Their sole purpose for being planted is habitat management for mourning doves. And while we've got your attention, take your trash out with you, too.
Public boat landings are now allowed to be reopened! Here are some do’s and don’t’s if you plan on launching your boat.
*Most boat landings are owned by local county, sometimes city governments or power utility companies and can use their discretion to reopen or remain closed.
Today SCDNR held a memorial service for K9 Blue. This was his final call.
Thank you to all our law enforcement partners who were there to support our team.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of SCDNR K9 Blue. Blue crossed the rainbow bridge with handler Sgt. Earhart by his side yesterday after suffering a medical emergency.
K9 Blue served with the agency since 2017.
⚠️🚨 CLOSURE NOTICE: Gov. McMaster has ordered the closure of all public access points to the state’s beaches, as well as closure of all public boat ramps, landings and other access points on the state's lakes, rivers and waterways.

are working to learn more about the movements of adult alligators via satellite tagging.
This will allow researchers to understand where these animals are spending their time and gain a better understanding of their habitat use over multiple seasons.
The observation tower at Sassafras Mountain, the tallest point of South Carolina, opens today! On a clear day, you can see South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. 🤗⛰
We know the weather is nice, and we know you are looking for every reason to get outside. If you do get out on the water this weekend, keep in mind that officers will be patrolling and dispersing crowds as needed. Stay safe and practice good social distancing. (File Photo)

Manatees are back in SC waters -- let's show them some South Carolina hospitality! Always look when cranking your boat motor and boating through shallow tidal creeks. And never approach, feed, or provide fresh water to manatees.

Officer Hawkins was determined to find out who created this 500-pound monster. It took about 20 calls before he got a warrant to pinpoint the responsible person's location, resulting in a conviction. It's

Today, we celebrated the completion of Crab Bank Seabird Sanctuary with all of our partners and stakeholders. This project is a huge win for conservation on South Carolina’s coast. Last week, the first egg was laid on the sanctuary.

SCDNR staff caught this beaver hanging out in the surf at Huntington Beach SP, likely trying to escape a predator. Remember to keep wildlife wild and always give it space so it can return to its natural environment.
‼️ UPDATE: ‼️
The person responsible plead guilty to dumping this trash illegally, which resulted in a $750 fine and 16 hours of community service. On top of that, he also had to pick up all the trash he dumped. Awesome work from our men in green!
Don't be trashy and dump illegally... 🗑️🚫
👏👏👏 Great job to officer Hawkins of Orangeburg County and Officer Fralick of Calhoun County for locating the individual responsible for dumping 500+ pounds of trash in Orangeburg County. 🚯

Remember, today is a free fishing day for residents of South Carolina. That means you don't need a license to fish in freshwater today!
An elderly couple was removed from their car in Lake Blalock by SCSO and lake wardens and are doing okay. SCDNR 1st Sgt. Cartee didn’t hesitate getting neck deep in water to help the tow truck driver remove the car. Thank you Inv. Hammond and Spartanburg County EMS for assisting!
