Fentanyl has killed twice the number of people as COVID, and this is the smug reply of a Governor when a citizen asks what he will do about it.
No wonder the fentanyl loads on our streets aren’t slowing down.
Our hearts are heavy and prayers go out for
@BiancoSheriff
and the
@RSO
family, at the senseless murder of their motor officer.
The men and women of
@SanBernardinoPD
stand with you. 💙🇺🇸
Happy to be back at work! It’s an honor to serve the great residents of the City of Upland and the outstanding men and women of

This is
@UplandPD
. Compassionate, real people, committed to respectful service and treatment of all people. I’m proud of these men and women for the job they do daily.
You’re right,
@michelletandler
. These unscrupulous politicians can’t have it both ways. They spent years helping dismantle law enforcement and when the predictable chaos ensues, all of sudden “we’re working together” to fix it. Complete nonsense.
Another San Francisco Supervisor who wants the cooperation of SFPD after years of calling to defund.
You can't have it both ways. You can't spend years calling to defund, and then expect to "work closely" with SFPD.
Or, can you?
The issues facing Oakland are ones impacting many cities, including
@SanBernardinoPD
. The problems are criminal friendly legislators & activists District Attorneys who’ve abandoned victims and the law.
Now that the NAACP has declared a public safety emergency, perhaps we can
Community frustration boils over as crime soars in Oakland
"Just out of control. I've never seen Oakland like it is right now," said

Bishop Jackson, who has lived in the city for 77 years.
@DaKPIX
reports:
14 suspects arrested in LA smash-and-grab robberies and all of them are already out of jail because of zero bail. Safety in our communities begins with policies that put victims before criminals.
It’s time return to law and order.
California Elected Officials Have Lost Their Minds As They Turn Their Backs On Public Safety.
If passed, SB94 will give early release to thousands of murderers.
On behalf of
@UplandPD
, I offer sincere condolences to the family, friends & co-workers of Officer Sheena Yarbrough Powell of
@beaumont_police
Dept. She was only 23 yrs old, w/2yrs on the job. Her police car was struck in a head-on collision w/a suspected DWI driver.
The hard working men and women of every Los Angeles County police agency, have my sympathy.
It will be painful for officers to tell victims of these criminal acts that there is no remedy for them. Los Angeles County no longer prosecutes these common crimes.
This will end bad
NEW: L.A. County DA George Gascon has issued a directive to prosecutors that the following misdemeanors will be declined for prosecution, with exemptions.
-Trespassing
-Disturbing the peace
-Driving without license
-Prostitution
-Resisting arrest
Details/exemptions below

I’ve always said, “when you don’t enjoy your job, you should leave.” Very apparent that Sergeants Naquin and Lassiter won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon! So much to digest in this 14 seconds...(I bet they wish I never found this video!)
Members of the Upland POA and members of Montclair PD went & served food to medical staff & LASO deputies providing security at Frances Medical Center, where the two ambushed LASO deps are being treated. Couldn’t be more proud of my folks for doing this.

Dear Upland & surrounding communities: Sharing photos of criminals makes our public aware & alerts neighbor cities of our crime trends. Now, I can’t show you who’s crawling through your windows at night. Victims & law abiding should matter more than crooks
Who’d ever believe that decriminalizing dangerous drugs would lead to more drug use, addiction, crime, & homelessness? Certainly not the authors & advocates of Prop 47.
The rest of us knew & we warned them. We continue pleading w/the majority party to fix this bad legislation.
@UplandPD
proudly welcomes our newest officers to the family! Tonight (L to R) Marco Cobian, Jason Ramirez & Antonio Banks graduated the San Bernardino Co. Sheriff’s Academy.
Officer Sam Corduff was a guest tactical officer & helped our members succeed!
Today, I was awarded the Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) Executive Certificate. I’m told it’s the highest POST certificate achievable. Well, I know I wouldn’t have earned it without the support of
@UplandPD
& the Upland community! So thank YOU!
#UplandPride
I’m lucky to work in San Bernardino, where the District Attorney puts victims first. Why do I care about LA’s horrible, pro-criminal DA? Because many of the violent predators Gascón doesn’t prosecute end up in my city!
@jonathanhatami
would do much better.
George Gascón sent out a fundraiser email yesterday claiming that when he “first ran for LA County District Attorney” he “pledged to crackdown on fentanyl and gun violence.”🧐
FACT: When George first took office, he removed every single gun violence enhancement. All of them.
To the anti-cop, free-all-criminals, crowd; what’s your plan for something like this? What if this were your wife or daughter?
Public safety is being eroded daily while woke activists & politicians pretend this type of crime will get better with less police. They are wrong.
NEW: We've obtained surveillance video of the brutal assault. It shows the large man getting out of his car, walking up to the woman as she pumps gas, then, without provocation, he sucker punches her in the face and continues to beat her on the ground. She was hospitalized.
I am sickened by the death of George Floyd. I detest looters.
I am committed to law&order.
I am committed to the constitution
I support freedom of Assembly.
I support peaceful protest.
I believe all lives matter.
Stop the race-war rhetoric. We must be better.
Large swaths of Americans bought into the false premise that police were the biggest problem in our communities. Those people voted for radical politicians who vowed to defund, decriminalize, reform, or reimagine policing.
This is how it’s going.
I don’t normally suggest that people get involved when a crime is being committed. But, I believe that if a woman is being raped, in a public place, with dozens of witnesses, someone should have the fortitude to intervene!
This can’t be our new normal.
I had the honor of swearing in 6 new officers yesterday (7/27)! These officers, like 1000’s across the country, will professionally defend the Constitution of the United States & State of California, w/out fear or favor.
@UplandPD
welcomes them to the family!
@LeonydusJohnson
It’s because most cops are amazing human beings who are committed to service & protecting the quality of life that most enjoy. Those gunning for us will still call us for help, despite their professed hatred. And because all cops aren’t monsters as portrayed, we still show up.
I had the honor of being part of the procession escorting Marine Lcpl. Dylan Merola & his family from the Angel Flight to the cemetery where he’ll be laid to rest. Thank you to all the people who came out to show support to this Marine, his family & all of us in the procession.
This video depicts absolute professionalism & legality, yet my officer was accused of abuse & racial profiling.
When we get it wrong, I’ll own it. But I will fervently defend false accusations & pursue criminal charges against those who levy them.

On January 31st, 2023 at about 11:15 a.m. uniformed San Bernardino Police Officers were patrolling the area of Bryce Hanes Park. For more information please view the video.

New York police boss Mike O'Meara:
"Stop treating us like animals and thugs and start treating us with some respect ... Our legislators abandoned us. The press is vilifying us. It's disgusting."
The “Defund the Police” movement wasn’t just about budgets, as many agencies suffered no financial loss. What it remains about is Delegitimizing, Demoralizing, Deconstructing, and Disabling the entire policing profession.
If the “movement” wins, public safety loses.
By now, it should be clear that demonizing police for two years and reducing consequence for criminal behavior has only emboldened these thugs and made us all less safe.

A woman is run down and robbed of her watch by gunmen Downtown. It's one of more than 200 "follow-home" robberies carried out by 17 South L.A. street gangs, the LAPD says. Eyewitness News with the troubling trend frustrating police. Tonight at 11 from ABC7
Imagine coming home & having complete strangers camped out on your property; Or how about in the door way of your business?
I wouldn’t tolerate it at my house or business, so it won’t be accepted for our residents or business owners. Law still matters in Upland.
#LawAndOrder
This is what it looks like when we create immunity from the law for a perceived victim class. It destroys the quality of life in a city. This is unacceptable.
#ReturnToLawAndOrder
Everyday, I hear decent, hardworking people in our community begging for more to be done about crime and issues eroding quality of life.
And everyday, the majority in the California State Legislature continues coddling criminals and turning their backs on law abiding citizens.
I appreciate
@OCDAToddSpitzer
for calling out the people responsible for the failed policies wreaking havoc across our State.
Task Forces are great. However, law enforcement agencies across this state are do a great job locating and arresting many of the miscreants responsible
These losses are always tough, but this one in particular. Had the honor of working w/Dominic in our early years. This man was solid. I will never forget the times we shared. I pray nobody forgets the ultimate sacrifice he made in service to others.

Our majority legislators don’t want to talk about the flood of drugs into our communities. Why? Because they’d have to acknowledge their permissive policies are the root cause of increased addiction, drug induced mental illness, homelessness, & overdose deaths.
Meanwhile,
Five thugs tried to rob a jewelry store near 300 S. Mountain Ave. Their attack was thwarted by the business owner who brandished a gun. They thugs ran out of the business to a waiting car. Thanks to
@UplandPD
&
@sbcountysheriff
, 4 of the 5 thugs have been arrested.
Officer Cuevas made a traffic stop for VC violation. Officer Quinn & K9 Rudy came to assist. K9 RUDY performed a free air sniff & alerted to the presence of narcotic odor. The driver forgot that he left 14 ounces of Meth in the glove box & Ofc. Cuevas found it.
Strong work team!
Today I had the extreme pleasure of welcoming back Deputy Carlos Velasco, after being ambushed in San Bernardino on August 17. Deputy Velasco’s speedy recovery, courage, and eagerness to return to work is an example of his dedication to the communities he serves. Welcome home!
Yet, these are the same people claiming to care about systemic racism and racial equality. Where do racial slurs fit into that? Or is it ok to be racist as long as it’s a cop being attacked? Racism is real, don’t play games with it.
#BeConsistent
#BeBetter
#BeAntiRacist
Wow. Props to this
@sbcountysheriff
deputy for maintaining his professionalism and discipline with these terribly racist comments being yelled in his face by some clearly very ignorant people looking to get a reaction out of him.
Cops don’t leave law enforcement because of the hard work; they signed up for it. They leave cuz the so-called “good people” they are working for; Sacramento, local officials, & citizens turn on them. No player expects to be boo’d by the home crowd. Respect the protectors.
The toughest thing I heard last night was the
@SFPDTenderloin
Capt. Talking about staffing. We are losing officers faster than they can recruit them in SF. Regardless of how you might feel, society cannot function without public safety. Please support these brave men and women.
“We cannot spit on the good men & women who wear the badge because they wear the badge, and then expect for them to stay in a career to be demoralized to a point where they no longer want to do the job.…”
Great article,
@OCDAToddSpitzer
The Upland Police Department is aware of rumors of civil unrest within our city and surrounding areas. There are no confirmed acts of lawlessness in Upland at this time. We will continue monitoring and reassessing in an effort to maintain law and order.
When the defund, reimagine, reform Police extremists get what they want, then suddenly they want what they had.
Improvements that benefit communities and police can be achieved without extremes.
Stop the extremism, and then you stop looking ridiculous.
The
@SFDAOffice
will no longer charge suspects w/having drugs or guns found during pretext traffic stops, per DA
@chesaboudin
.
@SanFranciscoPOA
blasts the move, saying the ex-
@sfdefender
"is emboldening criminals & we are all going to pay a steep price for his absurd policies."
After
@UplandPD
got complaints of transients throwing trash into residents’ backyards from the fwy embankment, the Impact Team & Homeless Coordinator went to the area. 14 transients were contacted & offered services, all refused. They were given notice to vacate the area
“Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness…”
I appreciate those who have served & continue serving to protect our freedoms & communities.
Thanks to my team
@UplandPD
who are taking care of the city and allowing me to take a little vacation. 🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸

Another traffic stop, another load of drugs stopped from reaching our community. Yet, our majority legislators still want to restrict traffic stops. If we don’t catch the drugs, the drugs reach the streets, cause more addiction, homelessness, and death.
Could they possibly want
Drug traffickers smuggle people, guns, money, & in this case meth, onto our streets daily. Drugs fuel property & violent crimes that destroy communities. Today, Ofcr Hanley & K9Rudy removed 10lbs of meth from the supply chain...thats about $100K street value! Good job team!
Our thoughts are with the
@sbcountysheriff
Deputy who was shot attempting a traffic stop. Preliminary reports are that the Deputy is in stable condition.
@UplandPD
sends our prayers for a speedy recovery.
It was an honor to have met LA Dodger legend,Tommy Lasorda, during his visit to Upland. He was kind, humble, and generous with his time. His contributions to the game will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace, Mr. Lasorda.
This tragic murder of a Police K9, and the majority of crimes throughout our region, are happening at the hands of repeat criminals. This is the result of the CA majority legislature and their pro-criminal agenda.
@SanBernardinoPD
mourns with
@RSO
over the loss of K9 Rudy.

“We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.”

Ofc. Waste stopped a vehicle leaving a hotel in Upland for violations. The driver was found in possession of a loaded Glock17, $1320, & scales. A probation search at the hotel revealed a loaded ghost AR-15, drum magazine, & oxycodone. Great job Waste!
#CrooksDontStayHome
The behavior taking place at the nation’s Capital isn't "patriotic.” It is not peaceful protest and it is unlawful. No better than rioting and looting. Officers and others have been injured; this is wrong and unacceptable.
#BeBetter
Yesterday’s protestors were lawful until some in the group threw rocks, liquids & pushed officers. They refused dispersal orders & crowd control tactics were utilized to regain law & order. During the protest, a non-protestor brandished a firearm at protestors. He was arrested.
****UPDATE****
The suspect in the kidnapping, which prompted our earlier Amber Alert, has been apprehended. Both victims are safe and unharmed. Excellent work Upland PD Detectives, Officers, and dispatch!

#WeWillCatchYou
One kilogram of Fentanyl is enough to kill 500,000 people. That means this 6 kilos seized during a traffic stop was capable of killing 3 million people, or all of Los Angeles.
Our officers saved 3 million lives with one traffic stop.
In less than 24 hrs, the IMPACT Team made 11 arrests throughout our city. Charges ranged from battery, drug possession, felony warrants, and municipal code violations.
Strong work team!
Great point. Do law enforcement a favor; Have your friends call their HEALTH CARE provider the next time an ADDICT robs them, steals their car, assaults them, camps out on the roof of their bldg, or defecates on their lawn.
Most haven’t got your memo & keep calling cops.
@UplandPD_Chief
Yes, addiction is a HEALTH CARE crisis.
The "War On Drugs" is a failure, how many more human tragedies will it take before our law enforcement leaders will admit it ?
I’ll never forget the day our country was attacked by terrorists. I’ll never forget those innocent Americans who were murdered. I’ll never forget the brave heroes who died attempting to save lives that day.
God bless America and all those who suit up everyday to protect it.
Our residents & business owners don’t appreciate people drinking alcohol & doing drugs in public, and neither do we. When someone is bold enough to still be doing it when officers get there, it gets dealt with. Quality of life still matters.

Our brand new K9 vehicle is ready for duty! This vehicle, the K9, and all associated equipment was 100% funded by the Upland Police Foundation’s fundraising efforts. Thanks to all who donated!!
This is not “kid” behavior. This is a complete breakdown of societal norms, values, and appropriate parenting. Every one of these thugs should be prosecuted.
The anti-cop rhetoric has produced the intended results. Less police on the streets, more violent crime, more attacks on police than ever before, & increased vigilantism. Yet, it continues from the highest office in the land.
This will not make communities safer.
#StopCopHate
A resident reported hearing power tools coming from her apartment’s carport area. Officers arrived & saw a car leaving. Officers stopped the car, & found a stolen catalytic converter & cutting tools. Three crooks arrested for multiple felonies & the Catalytic Converter returned!
Congratulations on your well earned retirement

Today -- as we published -- Seattle Police were mandated to stay on duty beyond 2nd Watch (citywide) because of a lack of staffing in 3rd Watch.
This is an emergency. The vast majority of media outlets will not tell you this.

When community members complain about seemingly clear & solvable problems, I explain that radical activist groups fight hard to keep this type of decay in our city.
It begs the questions, who are they helping, what are they making better, & why not fight back?

Meet Patrick he has a fetish with garbage he goes around the Tenderloin and take residence in businesses, garbage cans a few days ago lawyers with the ACLU, and another agency was here helping Patrick file a claim against the city for confiscating his garbage in the garbage cans
Funny how people call a Police Chief talking about crime and its effects on citizens ‘divisive’. Perhaps, if you favor criminals.
The divide is between chaos and order. The ignorance, is willfully dismissing crime victims for your political leanings.
My city’s police chief continually posts divisive rhetoric like this in efforts to gain department funding and political power. The sad part is that it’s working.
I feel I’m taking a risk to my own safety even retweeting this with my comment.
Interesting that nobody is listening to the experts...former addicts or police who deal with the problem daily. Instead, the narrative, decisions, and dollars are being controlled by many who profit from the problem & others driven by misplaced sympathies instead of sensibility.
Alot of "experts" point to the success of

in Finland as a model to follow here. But does anyone consider Geography in this equation? Do the cartels that pump tons of drugs into the U.S. exist in Finland to the same degree? Drug addiction perpetuates homelessness.
