@doaenel
Reading the inquiries you wrote in the first case, you are right in that the actual nature of the first suspension was incorrectly stated to you.
I've changed the suspension to two weeks - while we do have the discretion for whatever period length, I agree this is more fair.
Played a very rare Deathmatch in
@PlayVALORANT
and a guy in my game was CHEATING! (he didn't even pop off hard?) I feel kinda bad since it was only their second game cheating on an established Immortal account and they ran into me while testing it out, unlucky really
Not included in this graph, but we’ve also started to action some Lobby Reveal programs/other malicious client exploits. Players using these will be banned for two weeks on first infraction.
Rolling out over 25,000 bans on accounts for prohibited scripting tools in
@LeagueOfLegends
. Please continue reporting any players you suspect are in violation of our Third Party Tools policies. Your reports, especially detailed ones, are essential to us.
@Critical_Val
This isn't a Third Party Tool ban - someone tried to steal your account through Player Support, the player support agent caught it and locked it to keep it safe. Please write in!
We’ll be pushing out the fix to our ban messaging for players using Lobby Revealer tools within the next few hours. The messaging will look like this, informing players it’s a temporary suspension, and the expiration date. Scripting bans are still permanent on first infraction.
As of today, we're ramping up our cadence in removing bots in League of Legends. Feel free to DM me any bots you encounter moving forward, particularly if it's in a non Co-Op game mode.
@phantasyftw
@Slasher
Thanks for the visibility, we're investigating this.
For any cases of suspicious activity, the quickest way to flag suspicious activity is the in-game reporting feature. Even during Closed Beta, this is very helpful to us.
@phoxNA
Anti-Cheat is full of ex-cheaters who have learned our lessons too. We're rooting for you to reform and hopefully eventually be able to enjoy gaming and competition in a legitimate manner.
@doaenel
My apologies for any confusion on this; the account was actioned for repeated actions intended to "boost" an account. While this is commonly MMR Boosting through account sharing - in this case it was through abuse of the Transfer system, and it being a repeat penalty.
We’ve recently pushed another boosting wave for players who have queued with cheaters. It’s an action which we’ve previously done and committed to - This is meant to target repeat and continual offenders - if you feel that it’s unjust, please write Support
We've started to more action botted accounts in League beyond our traditional scope - this includes accounts that were botted as far back as a year ago. We had a bug where the Game ID was not being listed as the botted one - this should be fixed moving forward.
I don't usually tweet about Anti-Cheat plans (easier to be effective when bad actors can't prepare), but I understand the impact botting has had on some players in LoL. It's a time of large transition for our team currently, but we'll get the resources to help address the issue.
@Hai
@riotgames
@RiotSupport
Player was actioned by automated systems, it was a stolen account though, so don't be alarmed if you see the summoner name back.
As an aside, that scripter has had about 20 accounts banned in the past week or so.
@Synevilx
@derekmrda
@brock9_
Hey there,
After review, I personally had made an uninformed decision here, due to the inactivity of the account and isolated gameplay, not through usage of Vanguard.
Vincent can go back on, this one is solely on me.
I'll keep monitoring the accounts but my deepest apologies.
There's been an increasing amount of cheaters in VALORANT who try to hack high level accounts and ragehack before they get automatically banned to try to amplify a detected cheat, or social media account. Make sure to report in-game, and try not to signal boost cloutchasers.
those who tested the tools a couple of times have been spared like
@mirageopenguins
and I have said, but continual abusers of free cheats and users of pay-to-cheats have remained HWID'd for an indefinite period
@jawgemo
seems like you all figured it out and the scrim is back on - but that game end was not intended and everyone should be able to get back in.
apologies for the confusion here
@atlas1z
Hey Atlas,
The team gave your case a secondary review - your account has been reinstated. We don't always get it right, and we're making sure we'll get better in the future.
My deepest apologies, you can always reach out to me if you have any questions.
@breakrank1
this account was banned 3 times within the past 30 days, I'm not sure the point in pride in taking advantage of Player Support, a team that works to tirelessly to help players
Hey everyone,
Anti-Cheat and our partner Keywords are hiring agents to build a TFT review team, where you'd be working on protecting the ladder and Riot sanctioned events from Wintrading, Third Party Tools, and other game integrity violations. Apply at:
@Vansilli
@PlayVALORANT
Hey there! If you have a ticket # it would appreciated if you can DM me so I can make sure we can check it out. Our reviewers are asleep right now be we do check out these cases should you write in.
Please enable Multi-Factor Authentication on your
@riotgames
account! Even if you're a dormant player, nefarious actors look to steal accounts to sell to cheaters and other bad actors. Securing your account helps secure the game for all.
@Wernerjusthart
@phantasyftw
@Slasher
If issues exist with those systems in these stages of Early Beta, I'm comfortable taking reports directly. I won't be able to say the outcomes from review for privacy reasons but I am willing to help facilitate these directly at this time as well.
on bans and hardware bans:
1. devices detected for cheats are HWID banned in Closed Beta, accounts which touch these are banned too
2. Hardware bans will be removed for most players after CB
3. accounts will remain banned, new accounts will have to be made, excluding compromise
quick update - still some delays on swapping this messaging over to the players in the first wave, getting it sorted out soon. current and future actioned players are receiving this messaging.
We took some action against people who were AFK abusing to farm XP in Valorant, across all queues - if you feel you've been unfairly banned, please write into Player Support so we can have the case reviewed by our specialists.
Well it sucks, but today we had to ban our first cheater (and it looks like more bans are on the horizon).
I was hoping for a little more time before this fight kicked off but we're in it now and we're ready.
My tried-and-tested way to get into games industry is to simply spend your time in college failing classes playing League of Legends and obscure 12 game poker mixes on Bitcoin sites, use the skills to bust cheaters in poker, and then use those skills to bust cheaters in League
@hawolt
@LeagueOfLegends
We implement escalation policies to help determine which accounts are actually compromised and which are trying to socially engineer. I’m continually working on trying to get those increasingly accurate.
It's wild to me that a large chunk of professional poker players who routinely have thousands of dollars on the line will never use training software, yet there are Gold players in VALORANT that are hitting the aim trainers/sens randomizers/experimenting settings for hours a week
coolest moments of the year -
getting promoted to manager
winning a WSOP bracelet
went to Mexico, Spain, France, Germany, Hungary, Türkiye
got top 3 in VALORANT deathmatch twice in a row (emphasis on the 3rd)
@RohanGod_
Yeah, we've done some actions on some of those tools, especially the combination instalocker+stream hunter ones, with a 14 day duration as well.
Proud of what we've done with
@RiotVanguard
in helping to provide a highly competitive and fair experience to a tactical shooter, without needing to go through external clients and subscription services. At the core of every great sport, there is great competition.
most common question I see around banning the ol' "cheat bus" is "what if they didn't know their queue partner was cheating?". we're really targeting concerted boosting services here, where the results are pretty distinct. precision is a massive priority in these actions.
@SkinSpotlights
The intended install should only start when specifically agree to install Vanguard. We're looking into verifying the messaging that players receive during this installation now. There might be a discrepancy between what's intended and what's happening there.
@ALLinPav
can't wait till these frauds who win just cause they "have a large sample size" get exposed. tournament poker isn't about "solvers" or "ICM" it's about selling at 1.4 and freerolling until you bink
@ItsGamerDoc
bro pls unban me bro i wasnt cheating bro it was my borther plsss look at my desktop no cheats PLEASee gamerdoc it was in deathmatch and i was using legit cheats thats not even cheating PLeaseee unban And give gun buddy too thx check dms please
I forgot to add - enable MFA! The most effective thing you can do, even more than reporting, to prevent cheating in VALORANT is to have a protected account.
(reporting is still super helpful though!)
There's been an increasing amount of cheaters in VALORANT who try to hack high level accounts and ragehack before they get automatically banned to try to amplify a detected cheat, or social media account. Make sure to report in-game, and try not to signal boost cloutchasers.
We have specialized reviewers (including myself) who will look at these cases - we do our best to have a quick turn around time but we do not have 24/7 availability, and we appreciate patience while cases are reviewed.
pushing out some retroactive bans soon - the red hacker detected screen will occur for players in this wave who are in game, regardless of if they are cheating in that current game or not.
we're getting to where we want to be, but a lot of hard work to be done to get there.
to clarify once again - some of those who were only "testing" have been spared. we did our best we could to try to be forgiving to low risk cases but if you're downloading something from "unknowncheats" there's only so much lenience that can be done without hurting players
This year, I’m thankful for Danny, the mechanic in Mexico who jumped my car’s battery. After the first time and a replacement, we had thought it was fixed, but it happened again. He came over again, early morning right as I needed to check out, and he refused any payment.
The $5300 online
@WSOPcom
events are always a masterclass in Multi-Account Abuse excellence. In the same way we named the $50k Poker Players Championship after Chip Reese’s excellence in all games, who should we name this bracelet in honor of?
@Thunderblunder7
Made a deal for first place money 1v1 but did a blind all-in for the actual trophy. If it were Wednesday I’m winning that all day but at least I got the bread
players will queue with bought iron account cheaters, get banned for boosting, and then write in dumbfounded to Player Support wondering why they got banned after their hard fought grind to Platinum
Some Vanguard updates:
@0xNemi
is the hardest working guy I know, and I have to give appreciation for the 100 hour work weeks of simultaneously making ways to get players in and cheaters out.
Still way more work to be done and changes to come.
It’s my birthday! I wanna use it to highlight the cool things people have sent me through the year -
@0xNemi
and my friend Karishma’s care packages for when I got Corona,
@RiotDunpy
and Turkey’s care package, and my brother sending Amouage decants
Giving away 2k VALORANT points each to my 3 favorite Vanguard fanarts by tomorrow night!
Comment with your masterpieces and I'll comment and DM you inquiring about name+tag if you're chosen.
thank you to everyone who has reported cheaters in-game and have helped escalate issues through support and other avenues. still work to be done, but I am very appreciative of the positive sides of this community. be safe everyone!
Taking action to remove a large amount of cheaters from VALORANT permanently. Players who have submitted reports against these individuals will be notified if they are currently logged on. Thank you for helping keep VALORANT a safe and highly competitive gaming experience.
Great write up by
@markofu
and the other members of security on a Riot Vanguard. Our commitment to security and transparency in a problem space that has a reputation for lacking it makes me proud:
Oh, you’re at EDC? I’m in Vegas too. At the Orleans. I’m playing Razz. The other “young guy” at the table is 42. You have beautiful people under the electric sky? I have TGI Fridays and Fuddruckers.
so excited to get good internet back, falling asleep to 240p streams glowing in my face has been bad for my circadian rhythms, 720p is a much more natural glow
@MussigRicky
Ya, we've waved a lot of the big scripts recently actually, but we're definitely committed to getting back to our previous standards in terms of consistency. For accounts that slip past the cracks, can DM me, even if I don't respond, I do look
@OverwatchPD
@PlayVALORANT
This is fake.
TY for the concern though, we’re actively monitoring cheating forums and are in regular contact with developers to get a pulse on the scene and how things are progressing. If you ever want to reach out directly, you can DM me.
