Chef Michel Roux has announced that Le Gavroche site at 43 Upper Brook St will close in January after 56 years. He said he wants to make time for a better work/life balance, and to spend more time with his family without the daily demands of a Michelin restaurant.

The Museum of London will acquire Syd’s coffee stall when it closes for tomorrow, 20 December, after 100 years. The stall has sat on Calvert Avenue, off Shoreditch High Street, since 1919 and has passed through three generations from Syd Tothill to granddaughter Jane Tothill.
