I’m honored to have spent 2023 working hard for NY-15.
We've been focusing on the issues that matter most to our community – education, transportation, gun safety, environmental justice, and so much more – through legislation, federal investments, and constituent casework.
The House will soon vote on my bill, the Setting Consumer Standards for Lithium-Ion Batteries Act, which would set safety standards for the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries in e-mobility devices to help prevent fires.
The passage of this bill is crucial for public safety.

Tomorrow, the House will bring my legislation -- H.R. 1797 -- to the floor.
As we've seen in the Bronx and throughout NYC, lithium-ion batteries often spark fires and pose a direct threat to public safety.
I urge all House Democrats and Republicans to support this bill.

Affordable housing is crucial for the vitality of the Bronx.
16% of adults living below the poverty level did not have access to reliable transportation in 2022 — which led me to introduce legislation that would create affordable rental housing near necessary services.

Black and BIPOC Americans regularly experience prejudice regarding their natural hair or protective hairstyles in school, the workplace and society at large.
I'm proud to support the CROWN Act, which seeks to end race-based discrimination against hairstyle or hair texture.
