Happy Mother’s Day to Doina, the love of my life and the mother of our beautiful daughter, Julianna, and to my Mom, whose strength and resilience shaped who I am today.
It was a privilege to recognize the Hudson Valley InterArts Center at their grand opening yesterday along side so many community leaders. This center has not only established a space for artistic creation and inspiration but has also done so for the most vulnerable.
The fact that Hamas, Iran, and China have endorsed these protests speaks volumes. People are entitled to their opinion. They're not entitled to engage in violence or threats of violence against individuals simply because they're Jewish.
It's not surprising to see Squad Democrats praising the Biden Administration's decision to withold aid from our closest ally. He must immediately reverse course and stop capitulating to those trying to undermine our relationship with Israel.
While I was traveling back from DC yesterday morning, my office attended a veterans recognition breakfast in Greenburgh. We are truly grateful to the heroes who have served this great nation.
The House has acted in passing H.R. 2 and a number of other measures aimed at securing our border. The Senate, unfortunately, has not passed a border security measure through that body.
While I was in Washington for votes, my office attended this week's Yom HaShoah rememberance event at the Rockland County Courthouse. “Never again" must mean never again.
We enjoyed attending last weekend's Ramapough Indiginous Arts and Crafts Fair organized by the Rockland Center for The Arts and the Ramapough Munsee Lenape Nation. Amazing to see the work of so many local indigenous artisans who hail from the Hudson Valley's first residents.
This week we passed
@RepJenKiggans
’ bill by voice vote, which I co-sponsored, requiring notification within 24 hours when an NSC agency head is medically incapacitated. The Senate must take this up and pass it asap. Chain of command continuity is vital for our national security.
With antisemitism running rampant on our college campuses, it's critically important to better define what antisemitism is and make sure the Department of Education has teeth to go after violations of it. That's what my Antisemitism Awareness Act we passed last week does.
Our office joined
@CardinalDolan
and Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland for the annual Blessing of the Soil in Haverstraw. I’m so thankful for all that
@CCharitiesUSA
does in our community.
We cannot be silent in the face of antisemitism and combatting it cannot be partisan. I'm glad that my Antisemitism Awareness Act passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support and I urge the Senate to bring it up and pass it as soon as possible.
