Respect for Australia in the Pacific will be elevated by a positive Yes vote. It is almost inconceivable to us that this may not happen, but that possibility fills us with dread. A no vote will be a blow to our relationship, especially perceptions of Aust in our general public
So proud that Vanuatu gave a Presidential medal to this amazing woman for her inspiring work. (And appalled to find out that Fiji has not!) Thank you for everything you do to inspire action against violence against women throughout the Pacific, Shamima.

To all the Indonesian bots commenting on my posts on West Papua: there is a simple solution. Indonesian Govt just allow an unimpeded visit by the UNHRC to assess the situation on the ground and provide its report to the PIF in August. As requested by 79 countries. JUST DO IT!
After 32 days in the Opposition, I am back as Vanuatu's Minister for Climate Change Adaptation, Energy, Environment, Meteorology, Geohazards and Disaster Management. Lots to do!

Pacific Islands Forum countries need to acknowledge that their policy of "constructive engagement" with Indonesia about West Papua is failing; the situation is getting much worse. Stand with Vanuatu to make the UN intervene!

Still no communications with the whole northern part of the country, but I am assured communications will be re-established today. The downside is we get to realise the awful scale of the disaster
The military occupation continues. Incomprehensible to me that some in our region still choose to remain silent and, worse, actively undermine attempts to provide recourse to peace and justice for West Papuans
So many Indonesian trolls commenting on my tweets saying West Papuans are terrorists responsible for civilian deaths. My response? Allow UNHRC and intl human rights orgs into WP to provide an independent assessment of human rights. If Indonesia cannot do this, then SHUT UP!
