This weekend, members are celebrating 100 years since we last hosted @TheOpen . They're playing over the 1920 course with distances, tees & greens close to those that were played back then. Look out for the par 3 4th "Sandy Parlour", a 150 yrd hole being played blind over a dune.

Matches at Deal are almost always played over 36 holes with a fine lunch in between. Lunch is usually a traditional affair with a glass or two. Hopefully these occasions will return soon.

Hole 16: A Par 5 and some respite amongst the difficult finish. We recently, with the assistance of @golfarchitects , have re-introduced a lost fairway to the left of the hole giving the golfer more options with their approach. The green features a one of a kind putting surface.

The Amateur, 1923 and Roger Wethered of Worplesdon GC putting on the 3rd green on his way to victory. He beat Francis Ouimet in the semi-final. Many believe that the Wethered - Ouimet match was the greatest match ever played at Deal. It was watched by more than 3,000 spectators.

Hole 12: The start of the head for home and one of the toughest closing stretches in golf. The 12th is a long Par 4 with a unique half pipe shaped green. With numerous methods of recovery, this is not a green you want to miss right or left... but how do you play it if you do?

The Halford Hewitt, a tournament played annually between the old boys of 64 schools, is one of the longest running and largest amateur competitions in the world. We look forward to hosting it again in April 2021.

Hole 2: 434 yards from the back tee. With an elephant "buried" in the middle of the fairway creating some interesting second shot lies, this hole can one day be drivable, the next not reachable in two. Have you had any memorable moments on this hole?
