A few reality checks from me lately on Gen Z voters, and what the media narratives about Gaza, campuses and TikTok keep missing:
It's. All. About. The. Economy.
Sorry for just realizing this — but Biden is winning Nevada by TWO POINTS with mostly Dem ballots in Clark remaining and they haven’t called it? Forget Pennsylvania. That’s just bananas. Any other cycle they would have called it.
A reminder that Mitch McConnell said Al Franken was unfit to serve in the U.S. Senate after a series of he-said-she-said harassment allegations from multiple women, some of them unnamed
If you're criticizing President Biden for calling a "lid" and having meetings/calls about Israel instead holding public events, I have a feeling you might not be a good faith observer of politics.
Just leaving a reminder here that every single Republican Senator and Congressman currently in office claimed victory in their most recent campaign after ~the media~ called it for them.
How Twitter works: Beto didn’t “live stream his teeth-cleaning.” He’s been interviewing people in El Paso about life on the border. Including his dental assistant. It wasn’t live. There was a split second selfie shot of him with his mouth open that was screengrabbed by a reporter
People got so mad at the Peleton spot, but the O.G. hateable ads are these holiday car commercials with the impossibly rich young couples living in ski chalets gifting each other SUVs with big red bows
Here’s the RNC sending mailers to voters in Pennsylvania urging them to request a mail-in ballot, in part “to protect yourself from large crowds on Election Day”
Biden right now is ahead or down by a point in states containing over 400 electoral votes. He's also up 10 pts in national polls. If that was the result (& the piece points out why it may not be), it would be the largest win for a Dem since LBJ in 64.

talking about the NFL player protests has been viewed a combined *44 million times* across Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, the company told me
remember when everyone ranted against the early-in-the-night narratives in 2018 & urged caution about vote counting tonight? follow your own advice, freaks
If you’re panicked about Bernie being the nominee, take a breath, flip the script and think about him this way: What if Bernie’s actually the most electable Democrat against Trump? Here are 5 reasons why:
Anyone who’s ever covered a GOP event in Sarasota knows how extraordinary this R>D swing is. Republicans are in deep, deep trouble and Trump is the reason.
The sheer amount of Republicans and Fox News hosts talking about Trump in the past tense right now, and talking about the Senate instead, tells ya all you need to know.
For those waking up on the east coast: You missed a white knuckle ride in Wisconsin. Biden was losing by 100k until MKE came in, then it moved his way decisively. Expect pattern to hold in big urban/blue counties in Michigan, PA and maybe Georgia. Joe romping Hillary’s numbers.
Over the past 24 hours, thousands of TikToks (at least) have been posted where people share how they just read Bin Laden’s infamous "Letter to America," in which he explained why he attacked the United States.
The TikToks are from people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and…
I am *shocked* that a glib video, customized for re-tweets and filmed in broad daylight along one of the more secure parts of the RGV by a reporter who parachuted in for the day, did not reveal anything dramatic.
I found some steel slats down on the border. But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation.. at least not in the McAllen TX area of the border where Trump will be today.
Moderating this shit is so hard, but bringing up voting & ballot process and allowing the president to cast doubt on the election in front of ~90 million people is a huge mis-step by Wallace.
Missed this from Pew, but pretty devastating: About two-thirds (68%) say Trump should not continue to be a major national political figure for many years to come; just 29% say he should remain a major figure in U.S. politics.
Stacey Abrams has this newfound rep on Twitter as woke resistance folk hero but she’s showing here what she was in Georgia: a smart progressive who was also [gasp!] a pragmatist willing to cut deals across the aisle.
Mitt Romney — conservative Republican who ran for president twice as a conservative Republican on the promise of appointing conservative judges — was never gonna be swayed by your clap emojis
Biden people in Clive high-fiving because they hit viability threshold by ONE person. One woman screamed “CARTER” at some dude and he ran over at the last second. Glad we choose presidents with a series of lightly-regulated, barely-managed high school lock-ins.
I know the Pelosi drama is sexy, but Chuck Schumer -- the Democratic leader of the SENATE -- told investigators to back off Facebook as they were looking into the company. His daughter works there.
I’ve known
@Bakari_Sellers
for 14 years - this is peak 🤡. I truly wonder when the last time some of these millionaire Fox hosts in NYC went to the red states they claim to speak for.
I tweeted this unambiguously great news this morning -- 8 hours later my mentions are still dominated by COVID scolds & doomsayers who are pathologically incapable of admitting that things are getting better
This is excellent. Trump boosted his support with south Texas Latinos for many of the same reasons Rick Perry and Ted Cruz won ~38% of Texas Hispanics in their races. Culture, faith and patriotism matter to many.
Today on Good Luck America:
@AndrewYang
on tax policy! He has some big questions about Elizabeth Warren's wealth tax. Part 2 out tomorrow --- and a special episode on the Knicks coming soon.
@snapchat
everyone knows that the best use case for masks -- according to science -- is putting them on to walk into a restaurant and then taking them off immediately
If you think Trump will never fade away, you might not have lived through the Sarah Palin moment. I wrote about how Palin's rise and fall offers clues for Trump's de-platformed post-presidency
Credit to Andrew Yang, at least, for forcing a conversation about automation into a party that still thinks about manufacturing and the supply chain like its 1994.
The Beto-Bernie skirmishes tell us something important about 2020: Bernie isn’t the only one who gets to define what progressive means — especially with immigration dominating the fight
like 5 straight women callers into
@NHPR
have said they switched from Warren to Amy K because Klobuchar is "feisty" & "tough" and she can take on Trump -- but they're worried Warren can't win. Recency bias is a helluva drug in a crowded field.
Whichever state goes first next time, as
@danpfeiffer
said, it should be a swing state or one that will be in coming years. You want better demographics, affordable-ish media markets, plausible drive times. Nominees: Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, South Carolina.
Michigan:
Hillary got 519K in Wayne County
Biden is only at 241K in Wayne right now.
He's gonna add over a quarter million votes there alone.
Margin is 70K right now.
Bloomberg closing statement: We need to build teams with superb product managers who set KPIs that enable America to make smart decisions for our customers.
A new batch of returns from Cobb County pulls Biden within 40k votes of surpassing Trump in Georgia. The Democrat has a path: The state says roughly 122,000 absentee ballots are still not returned, mostly from solidly Democratic metro ATL and Savannah.

RFK’s superPAC spent $7 million to tell 100 million politics-weary Americans that there’s an independent candidate named Kennedy running for president.
If you think that’s a crazy waste of money, you probably shouldn’t be making observations about politics.
And yes, once this lead tips blue, media orgs can absolutely call the race, even if vote counting will finish tomorrow. Biden's margin is only going to get bigger and Trump can't make it up.
One of the biggest miscalculations TikTok made here was coming into this hearing bragging about how deeply enmeshed TikTok is in American society.
Misreading the room by a mile.
Portman does nothing without a lot of planning, calculation and looking at the numbers -- and a media plan (local rollout here). This is actually a big crack.
NEW: GOP Sen Rob Portman: Trump wrong to seek help from Ukraine, China
*Ukraine prosecutor fired b/c he DIDN'T pursue corruption - not b/c he was digging into Bidens
*1st Portman heard of Trump wanting Europe to help w/Ukraine aid: when it was released
Mayor Pete on Elizabeth Warren’s small donor strategy: “We're not going to beat Trump with pocket change”
Mayor Pete on his gun fight with Beto: “I get it. He needs to pick a fight in order to stay relevant"
And much more on today’s Good Luck America:
One House GOP staffer tells me: “it’s so so bad. Our phones have not stopped ringing. They’re teenagers and old people saying they spend their whole day on the app and we cant take it away”
Biden gets knocked for gaffes, but is there any candidate who has been more on message from Day One? Maybe Bernie. Same lines, same pitch, same message, every single day since joining the race. On full display tonight in contrast to Trump.
