Haven’t seen her nursing badge & watch in over 12 years & Róisín Boyle is now Róisín Doherty. What we are about to face with this virus requires an amazing national effort. Proud that Róisín has decided with teachers off to re-register as a nurse to help in whatever way she can.
Government have rushed though an amendment to legislation to give a Junior Minister who is already on over €124,000 a salary increase of over €16,000. That’s FF, FG and the Greens for you. I will be voting against this tomorrow. 👇
Hey
@LeoVaradkar
maybe you can tell them why you blocked my insurance reform legislation for 2 years?
And continue to delay its sections for another year at the request of the insurance industry?
And while as Taoiseach you pedalled the spin of the industry of falling premiums?
This week I want to talk to you about insurance. Whether you’re a homeowner, have a car or own a business, this government are committed to bringing the costs of insurance down for you
In the 1997 general election Sinn Féin secured 2.5% of the vote and elected our only TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin this picture shows me and Matt Carthy celebrating this victory in Monaghan Town. It’s been an extraordinary journey since. Upwards and onwards.
@LeoVaradkar
you're embarrassing yourself.
This is a Key Recommendation of the Expert Review of Corporation Tax commissioned by Minister Noonan & carried out by the former chair of the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council Seamus Coffey.
You can read it here:
Multinationals played a crucial role in lifting Ireland out of the last recession and they will again as we rebuild our economy after Covid. What does SF want to do? Tax them.
One insurance company FBD is reporting that it doubled their profits up to a staggering €100 million while buisness, motorists and farmers are being fleeced. Time to end the Insurance Rip-off.
Unbelievable! FG/FF/Greens just voted to continue to allow Cuckoo funds to pay no tax AND outbid ordinary workers & families for homes they so desperately need. Once again this government have shown whose side they are on. It's time for change.
Today we say our goodbyes to Robert and his daughter Shauna, the youngest victim of the Creeslough tragedy. The grief and pain is overwhelming in these communities but comfort and solace are drawn from the support, love and prayers of the nation. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
1/ On the day that thousands of workers who have lost their jobs will receive their COVID-19 Unemployment Payment,
@AIBIreland
have charged them quarterly fees on their accounts. Families that received €350 today just to get through the week have seen up to €100 disappear...
Shameful - Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Green TDs have just voted against a Sinn Féin amendment that would reduce the cost of Home Heating Oil by €118 per fill. Instead these same TDs have just now voted to increase it from this Sunday.
Leo Varadkar has just admitted to deleting from his phone the communication from his friend looking for a confidential document. This communication if still on his phone would be subject to a freedom of information request.

You couldn't make it up!! Tonight, Government will hijack Covid supports legislation to sneak through a tax break for Cuckoo Funds & reward them for snatching up family homes. We will fight this tooth and nail.
Delighted that my Insurance legislation has now passed all stages of the Oireachtas and is on the way to the President for his signature to become law. Big win for people against the insurance companies. More to do, together we can

Calling it out when it needs to be called out👇
✖️Some Employees earning over €1 million pay a Lower tax rate than a hairdresser or butcher in Rural Ireland
✖️Vulture funds charging highest rents in Ireland but pay no tax on the rent they get
Gov votes against closing loopholes
Over a thousand of the highest paid workers who get a special tax break of up to €111,000 can still travel abroad and not lose this perk. The taxpayer also funds over half the costs of their return flights & their families flights.🤫the government doesn’t want you to know.

Hi
@paschald
given you were the initial go-between for Katherine Zappone & Coveney in creating a tax-funded job for a friend, will you release all correspondence between yourself & Katherine Zappone and also between you & the Minister? The FOI request has been submitted today.
Surprise Surprise Chief economists of one of Ireland’s biggest insurance companies attacks Sinn Féin plans. These companies have got away with ripping of their customers for too long and we will end the Rip-off
Government votes to delay for 9 months my legislation to end the insurance Rip-off from progressing to committee stage. They may delay us, but they won't stop us.

So many tears & so much grief Four funerals of four great lads and four families whose lives have been shattered and a community that is heartbroken. May Shaun, Mícheál, John & Daniel Rest in Peace & may God comfort those who have been touched by this tragedy & give them strength
Disgraceful! FF/FG/Greens just voted down Sinn Féin's amendments to make sure All homes are protected from vulture funds.
Tonight, this Govt made it clear - it's on the side of vulture funds and leaving ordinary people locked out of homeownership.
1. It is clear from the fake outrage to this story that Fianna Fáil do not want renters & first-time buyers to know how they have been voting against their interests in the Dáil for some time. So let's set the record straight. A thread...
If something isn’t done to tip the balance in favour of home ownership,and disadvantage Investment Funds, we will be tenants again , like we were a hundred yrs ago. The only difference is our landlords will be investment funds based in London or New York.
Another pay increase for TD’s - Now is NOT the time for pay increases for politicians. Families and workers are struggling. Today I return the latest pay increase awarded to TDs.
Today I raised the issue of rising house prices
The Tánaiste replied by saying that house prices are lower now than they were 14 years ago during the height of the boom
He then suggested that increased mortgage credit and debt could help solve the issue
Bizarre & out of touch
To justify their refusal to pay student nurses the Government are saying they don't get paid because they don't do 'real work'.

There it is for all to see. FF/FG/Greens vote for a TAX BREAK for Cuckoo Funds to reward them for snatching up family homes. This government has turned their back on people, again.
Tonight my legislation to hold the insurance industry to account & reduce premiums has passed second stage unanimously, however government also voted to block it moving to the next stage for 9 months. They may try to delay change but they won’t stop it.

Are you for real “there may now be a role for the Central Bank” Of course they have a role and always had one. As Taoiseach you refused to intervene despite repeated requests from me for your Government to do so. Central Bank must step in. No more abandoning small businesses.
It's more than 1 week since SF requested all documents & correspondence be made public re confidential contract Leo Varadkar leaked to his friend.
Taosieach, Tánaiste, Health & Finance Ministers promised to do so.
Still nothing has been made public. Why not?
No transparency.
3/ These charges should be cancelled and refunded immediately. All banks should suspend charges for customers who have lost income because of this outbreak.

SHAMEFUL! FF/FG/Greens just voted down Sinn Féin's plan to remove duty on home heating oil and bring fuel prices down at the pump. The Govt’s weak half measures are not near enough & do absolutely nothing to reduce the cost of home heating oil.

Inflation hits 7.8% in 12 months to May. Energy prices up 57%. Food prices rise by 5%. The price of home heating oil has doubled. Lower & middle-income households are hit hardest. Our call for an emergency budget remains. Government's refusal to act is inexcusable.

For 4 months we’ve been trying to get to the truth behind the FG leader’s leaking of a highly confidential document to his friend. The answers he gave the Dáil has fallen apart as more info came to light. That the NBCI is assessing a complaint highlights the seriousness of matter

3 Irish bailed out banks, AIB, Bank of Ireland & PTSB made €2,600,000,000 (€2.6 billion) profit last year, yet didn't pay a cent of corporation tax. This scandal must end but Minister for Finance is still protecting the banks. Read our proposal here
Minister Fleming has had months to respond to the cost of living crisis facing workers & families. His advice that households should "stop complaining" & "do some work themselves" is insulting & out of touch. Is that the best this Government can come up with?
@drivetimerte
In response to measures announced by Government yesterday, the share price of one of the biggest investment funds & institutional landlords in the State, IRES REIT, which pays no corporation tax, rose.
Their share price rose.
Total joke. The 10% rate will not make a dent. Too little too late. Loopholes & exemptions mean that investment funds will be snapping up homes for years to come. A ruse by the Goverment that struggling home buyers will not fall for. Do they take us for fools.
Received a reply from HSE that a constituent will receive their Covid Test result Today after been swabbed 19 days ago. These delays are completely unacceptable.
Government parties have just voted to put Geraldine Feeney a former FF Senator and chief lobbyist for the NAGP onto the standards commission. This is taking place as that body is about to Investigate Leo Varadkar for leaking confidential documents to his friend in the NAGP.

For a person who hates misinformation why don’t you post the entire fee section and not only part of it. €4.50 is only a part of the quarterly fees as I’m sure you know. Less misinformation please.
Hey
@PearseDoherty
you spelt €4.50 wrong.
We all hate bank fees, but I also hate *misinformation* about fees.
12 weeks in a quarter, so €350*12 = €4,200 income
Fee equates to ~0.1% of income but the tweet reads as if ~30% of income was just swiped.
Less fearmongering plz
The Government has just voted to increase the cost of home heating fuels through a carbon tax hike in May.
This will only put pressure on already hard-pressed workers and families. Another example of just how out-of-touch this government is. Disgraceful!
€60,000 - that's the amount that you are paying MORE in your mortgage interest in Ireland than in other EU countries - double the average interest rate in the EU.
The banks need to be told by the Minister for Finance that this must end!
Home Heating Oil has increased by 127% in the past year. 1/3rd of homes use Home Heating oil as the primary way to heat our homes, rising to 2/3rd of homes in West and North West.

It’s a national scandal that AIB makes €1,600,000,000 profit and pays no tax and won’t for 20 years. This is obscene. Deal done with banks by FG/Lab government to pay no tax needs to be undone.
