Thrilled with how this shaped up (even more excited to see it printed in the magazine)!
The growth that girls hockey has seen in the last decade is staggering. Just see for yourself.
Thanks to everyone who shared their insight and to
@leahysean
for his help with the research.
Derek Forbort on blocking shots:
“Growing up in Duluth, we had a bantam coach who was kind of a nutjob. He’d shoot real pucks at us in practice… from there it kind of became second nature.”
Matt Brown lost his mother last week. She was 51.
He scored to put BU up 3-1 on Harvard in the Beanpot semis, and immediately points to the sky.

Some news: I’ve accepted a position with
@NHLdotcom
to be a Boston Bruins correspondent! I’ll be covering Bruins games at TD Garden, morning skates and more throughout the season!
I’m beyond thankful for this opportunity. It’s a dream come true, and I can’t wait to get going!
Sean Kuraly has never been in the visitors’ locker room at TD Garden before.
“Yeah, it’s weird. ... I couldn’t find the right way in. Didn’t want to end up in the B’ locker room.”
The Bruins' season, broken into 7-game segments:
6-1-0
6-1-0
6-1-0
5-1-1
5-0-2
5-1-1
5-1-1
5-2-0
6-1-0
5-2-0
6-1-0
Plus the final 5 games, 5-0-0.
Throw 3v3 overtime and shootouts out the window, Bruins were 54-12. Edmonton 9 back with the second-most regulation wins (45).
THREAD: I spoke with
@Avalanche
forward J.T. Compher after his sister, Jesse–an All-American for
@TerrierWHockey
last year–had 1G and 1A in BU's 6-0 W vs BC. I asked him what it's like w/ two premier hockey players in the family and what he's seen from Jesse over the years⬇️
This is one of my favorite Tommy Heinsohn moments, hilarious when Smart drills the 3.
Another that sticks out is from a loss to the Spurs a few years ago, “‘Mawcus’ should’ve made that pass about two weeks ago.”
Legendary player, coach and broadcaster.
ICYMI: Here’s my feature on BU’s Jesse Compher, how she’s cemented herself among college hockey’s elite, a sibling rivalry with her brother J.T. of the
@Avalanche
, and more. I’m very proud of how it came out, and I’d appreciate it if you’d gave it a read!
Brad Marchand said he felt good in the playoffs, that he was able to elevate his game to a “much higher level” than the regular season.
Said he’s looking forward to a normal offseason and not “mutilating” his body anymore.
I mean “Live and Let Die” might’ve been worth the price of admission by itself. Glad I got to see Paul McCartney live. Probably my favorite show I’ve been to.
Jay Pandolfo: "The BU Hockey program isn't broken. What we need to do is everything just a little bit better. ... We're gonna have high expectations, so we're gonna have high standards. ... We're gonna buy into this mindset, and the results are going to speak for themselves."
Kevin Shattenkirk on Zoom, said he thought he might have gotten drafted by Boston back in 2007.
He went 14th overall to Colorado. Boston took Zach Hamill 8th.
Krejci said he would have required surgery to play another season in the NHL.
His body “can’t take the whole season,” which is why he would possibly return around the holidays to ramp up for the World Championships.
Albie O’Connell postgame: “I’m not supposed to comment on officials... the diving in that game was awful... karma didn’t catch up to that, but it will.”

Haven't been very active here lately - trying to unplug and enjoy the summer - but I do have some news.
I recently accepted a full-time position with at Turner Sports and

This post-trade deadline acquisition is indeed eligible for the playoffs.
Starting tomorrow, I'll be joining

Huge thank you to

Some news: Last night was my last game covering the Bruins for Boston Sports Journal. I’ll always be grateful to
@GregABedard
for taking a chance on me and giving me a tremendous opportunity. He and the entire BSJ crew work their tails off, and I’m glad to have been a part of it.
News! 🗞️
Today is my last day with NCAA Digital. Covering the men's Frozen Four in Tampa was an absolute blast, and couldn't have asked for a more exciting national championship.
Thankful for all the experience and guidance I got during my work with
@wbd
and
@NCAAIceHockey
!
Cassidy says it's up to guys like Brandon Carlo, Charlie McAvoy, Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie Coyle, etc. to become more "assertive" personalities in the room.
Mike “Doc” Emrick brought the same energy to every single game. One call I instantly think of is this Bruins comeback vs. the Rangers one Black Friday. The intensity of his call leading up to the game-winner is still so awesome. Hat tip to an inspiring career for Doc.
Ecstatic to begin my foray into the
@NEHockeyJournal
universe.
I can't wait to add to top-of-its-class coverage for both boys and especially girls hockey, and much more.
A little about me:
In some personal news, extremely excited to say that I'm now a Digital Intern with

@NECN
