NEWS: After a distinguished 36-year career in
#NASCAR
broadcasting, our leader and friend,
@Riceman61
, will bid farewell to the broadcast booth after the 2024 PRN race season.
Follow along all year as we celebrate
#DougsLastLap
& amazing career.
Details:
"Played alot of NASCAR 2005 on the Game Cube. I never knew if it actually worked. I did that when I was 8. I grabbed fifth gear down the back and full committed," says Ross Chastain.
Today, PRN’s
@WendyVenturini
was out running in Sonoma, CA and was stuck by a car. Her prognosis is good but will require a few nights stay in a local hospital. Please offer your thoughts and prayers, as we are, for a speedy recovery.
Steve Richards, longtime friend and colleague of the PRN team passed away last night. Steve had been a key part of so many broadcasts. He was loved and respected by the NASCAR community. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
Allgaier: "There's a lot bigger stuff going on in this world. My heart is heavy...I've prayed a lot, with the death of George Floyd and the unrest. A lot has to change in our society."
He says he'll rebound and get them next week in Atlanta.
Carl Edwards on fan response to seeing him at the track: "It has blown me away. I got to do this, I feel so fortunate ... I was gone for so long and I'm mad I stayed away so long. I'm humbled and just shocked how kind people are to me. Everyone's genuinely excited to see me."
Ryan Blaney: "Can't really go anywhere unless you were the 9 and you were the fastest car by a mile. It was pretty easy for him ... This was a survival race. That's what you'll get when you're speedway racing at a mile-and-a-half."
Alex Bowman: "He's a friend. He is a pain in the ass to race with but I tell him that all the time. Just happy for him. I'm on the wrong side of it, but just I know what he's feeling right now and I'm pumped for him and all the work he's put in for this."
Joe Gibbs: "What happened right here. J.D.'s name is on that car, that' his No. 11 on the car. He found Denny. What happened here is emotional for all of us. Denny racing like he did right there was unbelievable. I'm emotionally shot."
It's a 1-2-3 finish for
@JoeGibbsRacing
Chris Gabehart on learning from Bristol: “I’ve been saying for a while, we’ve gotta stop talking badly about Goodyear here in these situations. This isn’t bad. This is supposed to be sport, it’s supposed to be hard … What I want everyone to understand? That’s not bad. It’s ok.”
Brad Keselowski: "all this time we made fun of
@AllWaltrip
and the Vortex Theory, but sure enough, we get a caution and it starts raining. If you're still up DW, and watching, I'm sorry."
Kyle Busch: "I swear, any time you say anything, you get your ass handed to you. You see others doing it and nothing."
Adam Stevens: "I counted the boxes, bud. We damn sure drove through 4 of them"
Allgaier: "I can't give any more than I gave right there. That's all that I had, and we came up short. Last year I left here gutted, heartbroken, jus tmiserable. When I walk out here tonight, I'll hold my head up high. The sun's gonna come up and Monday we'll go back to work."
Matt DiBenedetto: "We made it! I don't care how we did it. l don't care...Driving for the Wood Brothers is so special. Tomorrow, we'll celebrate, then we'll go to work"
Ross Chastain tells
@JamieLittleTV
: "At this level, I just have to be better than that ... I owe half the field an apology. Words aren't going to fix it. I can't believe I keep making the same mistakes."
Gray Gaulding tells NBCSN: "This was a one-off deal. I came here to win, just came up one spot short. But what an ending. To have a shot to win at Daytona, finish second, I'm a kid from a small town with a dream about being here. I'm just so, so appreciative."

More Bubba Wallace: "This sport is changing. The deal that happened yesterday..sorry about not wearing my mask, I wanted to show whoever it was you're not going to take away my smile."
Chase Elliott will start on the front row tomorrow.
"Really proud of our
@NAPARacing
team. I made a mistake in the first round and got us in a position where we had to run again. To get us in a position to be 2nd is good, this place is hard on tires."
Erik Jones' team says they plan on coming back down pit road and changing left-side tires.
"He's awake. He was out," the team says about the crew member.
Sounds like a tire changer got hit on pit road, according to them.
Ryan Blaney: "Got a push from the 11 and I kind of went low and Newman blocked down and I was kind of committed to pushing him to the win and we got kind of hooked up wrong. I hope he's alright, that looked pretty bad"
#Daytona500
Ross Chastain: "Oh my God, we did it!!! Daytona! Oh my gosh...I watched these races here as a kid every Fourth of July. These guys gave me a race car, we won a race at Daytona, we did it!"
#CircleKFirecracker250
Chase Elliott: "Who won? 20? Congratulations to Christopher, looks like they got themselves to the next round. We'll go out to Vegas and see what we've got next week"
Almirola to
@AlanCavanna
on his issue with Bubba: "I felt like I raced him clean and he was racing me dirty. I let him go and then he shot me the bird. So I went to ask him why he shot the bird and he started mouthing off and cussing me. I wasn't gonna have that"
Justin Allgaier: "The team did a great job getting us track position we needed. I'm more mad at myself for making a mistake and getting off the bottom, but yeah we got wrecked."
Chase Elliott: "It's just near and dear to your heart to have success this close to home. To be standing here in victory lane is a big deal for me. We want to enjoy it, these things are hard to come by."
Corey LaJoie: "Felt like that was my one run, I had to take it. He blocked it and wasn't gonna lift and the hometown kid gets one. IT was nice to have that 7 car up front for a change," he tells
@WendyVenturini
. "You only get one shot, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't."
Bubba Wallace: "Haven't had a hug like that since Daytona last year. We unloaded with a ton of speed...It translated to a 3rd-place finish at Indy. To come here, just speaks volumes about what my guys at
@RPMotorsports
do with limited resources."
.
@eddiegossage
stopped by the PRN booth to tell us that everyone who showed up and braved the conditions for the conclusion of today's race will get a certificate from
@TXMotorSpeedway
and a pit pass for the 2021 All Star Race.
Very cool!
#AutotraderEchoPark500
Ryan Newman: "If you know how to read the radar, this doesn't exist. I can tell you two things are guaranteed in life: If it's raining, it's going to stop, and if it's not raining, it's going to start."
Erik Jones: "I never lost any belief in myself. I just knew we had the program to do it and we have ... I'm excited man, we've been talking about this a long time. It's redemption in a lot of ways. This race saved my job the first time around, coming back puts you back on the map
The most incredible part of Chase Elliott's drive might be the fact that he had the composure to knock his car out of gear on the last lap so it wouldn't spin while wheelhopping into Turn 1. Wow!
Denny Hamlin: “Do we want them (the tires) wearing out in 40-50 laps? No, that’s on the low end but that’s what you get when you have tire wear. There’s a lot of comers and goers. That’s how it used to be. It was fun from my standpoint.”
Matt Mills: "The 07 wrecked the 91, that wasn't enough, the teammate of the 92, and then he just shot back to the inside of the track. He didn't even touch his brake until he hit me. That car won the race last week, he took people out running 25th this week"
Harvick: "Hey it got wild, but congratulations to Cole Custer and everybody on the 41 team. If I can't win the race, it's cool to keep it in the organization and win his first race."
Alex Bowman tells FOX: "I'm worn out, this stuff is the hardest race of the year. We at least had a shot at it, that's really all you can ask for."
He brings the No. 88 home P2 for his second-straight P2 finish.

CONGRATS: Join us in congratulating our fearless leader,
@Riceman61
who was named recipient of the
@ncmotorsports
Jim Hunter Memorial Media Award for his outstanding work in Motorsports Broadcasting.
He will be honored during the NC Motorsports Industry Awards on Jan 28, 2020!
Truex: "I've wanted this since I was a little kid. Never give up, no matter what kind of crap you go through...This is unbelievable, a dream come true. Just really thankful, really grateful."
Matt DiBenedetto comes home P2: "I don't even know what to say, I'm so sad we didn't win but proud of the effort...I got tight from the damage of getting into Newman and that immediately flipped the switch. This opportunity, I'm so thankful for this opportunity"
Chase Elliott: "Each of the last three seasons, we've made the round of 4 in different ways and for that we should be very proud ... Kind of a rough nine weeks up until today, it was going pretty good. Had our best pit stop. That's the way it goes. Can't thank my team enough"
Bubba Wallace is third today:
"The last month has been pretty much hell for me, so it was a great day. Definitely needed this. Hats off to everybody back at the shop."
Kevin Harvick: "It just went straight. Unfortunately, we were the first one to the damp PJ1. That's the downside to it. Once it's wet, it's like ice. I couldn't get out of the gas and couldn't do anything but go straight. It had OK speed still, so work on it and figure it out"
Ryan Blaney tells
@Noble_Jim
: "A part broke off and leaked all the water out. That's the way it goes, that's the way this season's going. Have a shot to win pretty much every race and something happens. It's getting old...I'm tired of looking at the bright side."
Kyle Busch declined an interview request with
@AlanCavanna
-- He's hanging out at the back of the NASCAR hauler and waiting out the rain.

Chase Elliott's finally a winner at
@amsupdates
!
"It feels great. This is a really special moment for me. It hasn't really been our best track. I don't know what got into Alan and the guys, this
@NAPARacing
Chevy was great all day."
Ross Chastain: "I'm truly sorry to Sheldon. I tried to leave him room, and I wanted to leave him even more room. I hear what I'm saying and know it may fall on deaf ears, but I am sorry."
Jones: "A lot of hard work to be here. I was thinking about my mom and dad. My mom stayed home for this one, she missed my first cup win, so, hi mom! And my dad would be so proud"
Randall Burnett confirms no backup for Kyle Busch.
"I think we can fix this one," he told
@WendyVenturini
. "The backup car has a lot of work to do, anyway. So we'll try to fix this one up and see what we've got. We'll be alright for tomorrow."
Elliott: "Just huge thanks to everybody who makes this possible. Just a bit of a loss of words. This is the piece we've been missing, I feel like we've had the group to do this, we just have to go make it happen and tonight we did"
Daniel Hemric is the Xfinity Series champion!!
"Lost my breath. Unbelievable ... these guys all year have asked me how bad I wanted it. We were not going to be denied"
Noah Gragson tells FS1: "What are you gonna do? You've got dipshits in the way every week...It's a shame, we dominated the last three races and you got nothing to show for it."
Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s OK after that fire.
"I don't know, it had a fire underneath the dash. I'm fine, the suit caught on fire and burned it up. It's a weird thing, man."
@AlanCavanna
reports that Dale's suit is charred up after those flames erupted under the dash.
Elliott: "Holy cow, what a thrill. I don't know what to say, just so thrilled, so emotional, so much relief. Working on three years, haven't won one, came here with a good opportunity and I was able to get it done"
#NASCAR
Dale Jr.: "I was so rusty. It was a lot of fun, but I was rusty all the way through. We were gaining on the 9 and I thought 'I'll keep driving it, no need to save it.' Hate we got that late yellow, our car just didn't fire off all day."
