Some of our Officers made a BIG mistake by trying to establish a, "basketball team". These Officers then found a group of (young) basketball players and challenged them to a game. We did lose ALL of the games. However we made new friends. Next time we will bring
@OPPD_Chief
Round 2: We put on shorts, recruited better players (officers), consumed energy drinks before the game, rubbed down with ointment and wore tennis shoes but we STILL lost (only by two points this time).
@MayorGerlach
are you busy next week?
For the upset resident who contacted the PD about our Traffic officers conducting enforcement on Quivira in the 16400 block. Here is an example why we are enforcing the speed limit in this area. 109 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Since we’re unable to honor him at

tonight, please join us in a virtual moment of silence for Overland Park Officer Michael Mosher.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and colleagues.
A proud OP citizen caught our OPPD officers coming to the aid of an elderly neighbor who recently lost of his spouse. The (multiple) officers mowed between calls for service. Officers involved did not want to be named, but thank you for your service.
A note from
@OPPD_Chief
Frank Donchez:
It is with a heavy heart that I share that Overland Park Police Officer Freddie Castro passed away a short time ago.
A Ball Python was found my a mailman and called Animal Control. The poor resident did not receive their mail today (obviously). The

desk, but they won't.
We are receiving phone calls, and emails regarding police motorcycles in the area of W.135th and Switzer. We are hosting police training at a near by parking lot. You are fine. All is well. The "bubble" is safe.
The Overland Park Police Department will have strong presence of Officers in the area of W.159th and Hayes. One of our own lost a hard fought battle with Cancer. Thank you for your support.

Again, thank you OPPD Animal Control for coming to the rescue saving an injured Bald Eagle near W.180th and Stateline. Seems as if the Bald Eagle made contact with an electrical wire. The Bald Eagle is recovering at Operation Wildlife.
We are still enforcing the speed limit on I-435. This driver told the officer, "when I looked down at the speedometer, I was doing 128 mph". Well, the officer locked her vehicle speed at 149 mph. SLOW DOWN!
