The Ontario Medical Association & Ontario’s doctors work closely with patients across the province to encourage healthy living practices & illness prevention.
NEW: Recruitment and retention of doctors in Ontario is “not a major concern,” the Ministry of Health suggests as it argues with the Ontario Medical Association over physician compensation.

The Ontario Medical Association strongly condemns those making deaths threats against public health officials who are trying to keep our communities safe.
Bullying and intimidation have no place in Canadian society, especially not against doctors and other health-care workers who have been working on the front lines of the pandemic for nearly two years to keep our communities safe. This has to stop. We are better than this.
Extending our thoughts to
@Harryslaststand
and his family. Harry is a compassionate and respected advocate for health care. We know you are in good hands with the doctors and nurses at Belleville General Hospital.
Harry's is to be moved shortly to ICU. I can not express enough thanks to everyone at Belleville General Hospital because all of them do excellent work under the most trying of circumstances.

Ontario Medical association strongly condemns any act of violence, harassment or threats made towards physicians. Doctors work every day to keep their patients and communities safe and healthy and acts that threaten the safety of physicians will not be tolerated.
Minister
@rechievaldez
, you're mistaken. This is not something Canada can recruit our way out of.
@Ontariosdoctors
are facing financial strain, worsened by proposed tax changes. This could threaten physician practices and patient access.
Incredible. Minister admits capital gains increases could cause family doctors to leave Canada. Not to worry, though, she says, we’ll just bring in more foreign trained docs.

Ongoing incidents of racism and violence towards physicians are appalling.
@OntariosDoctors
strongly condemn the threats and harassment made towards doctors who work every day to keep patients and communities safe and healthy.
The number of racist/hate messages is appalling "how do I get to speak on CBC when not even born in Canada, how did they let a warehouse worker become a dr" and now receiving this in my not so public platform. All I have to say is: thank you for fuelling my advocacy further!
Family doctors are speaking out.
The time to act is now before they vanish forever.
Everyone in Ontario deserves access to a family doctor.

Family doctors are increasingly considering leaving their practices. Underfunding of OHIP fees, complicated by rising inflation pressures has made family practice unsustainable.

Physicians remain willing to work with government to meet budgetary targets through a fair, reasonable, good-faith negotiations process that respects their arbitration rights as essential workers.

Hate, intolerance and violence directed at anyone—regardless of religion, race, creed or background—have no place in Canada society. We must stand together to build a safer, more inclusive Canada for all.
Arbitration is an essential dispute resolution mechanism that
@OntariosDoctors
currently have. It must be restored in Alberta. That a government could terminate the right to binding arbitration is disturbing.

While pharmacists have a role in patient care, MedChecks increase the administrative burden on family physicians. Each consult sends another form (usually by fax machine) to your doctor for review. Too much time is spent on paperwork, not patients.
