Last week, during a "reverse-buy" sting operation, undercover deputies with the Riverside sheriff sold 60 pounds of meth to a narco. The drug dealer then got in a car and fled. And that's how 60 additional pounds of meth were intro'ed into the community
Mass shooting in Crown Heights this morning. Four people shot, though none killed. It was around 2:00 a.m. at a vigil for a person who had died of natural causes. When people say there have been more mass shootings than days in the year, these mass shootings count too.
BREAKING: The FBI is raiding the offices of the Sergeants Benevolent Association this morning as part of an ongoing investigation, a spokeswoman confirmed to the Daily News.
I spent the day in Lake Arrowhead, talking to friends and family of Laura Ann Carleton, whom they all called Lauri.
She was a fierce advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and had had several run ins with people who wanted her to take her Pride flag down.
A Brooklyn defense attorney with
@LegalAidNYC
says she was arrested and detained for hours by NYPD cops all because she recorded them making arrests.
"I did not break the law. I’m a lawyer. I know the law," she told me.
I couldn't find a single article on the New Republic about the drowned migrants except for this one. Meanwhile they have written three stories on the missing submersible. Stones and glass homes and whatnot.
Dwayne Wade’s $18-million Hidden Hills property exceeded its allocated water budget in June by more than 1,400%, or 90,000 gallons. That was an improvement over May, when the property exceeded its budget by 489,000 gallons — more than any other customer.
It's the story of the Prince and the Pupper.
Rescued from a horrific breeding plant in Virginia, Mamma Mia the beagle just wanted love and a home. Her new owners? The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
You can refer to her as the Dog Duchess of Montecito.

“We learned again today that damage of property seems to be more important than a Black woman sleeping in her bed,” Williams told me.
Here’s a sad scoop. Brooklyn Federal Judge Jack Weinstein, who worked the Brown v Board of Education case and was appointed by LBJ to the bench in 1967, died today. He was 99 and two months shy of 100.
Everyone is failing the COVID protocol temperature check at brooklyn federal court because of the heat outside so the court officers are making me stand in front of the air conditioning vent for three minutes before entering. Follow the science!
The Bronx DA quietly dropped all 43 charges against a Rikers Island physician's assistant accused of raping and sexually abusing women detainees at the jail complex, blaming discovery reform from 2020 even though the case was indicted in 2017
“Why would you let someone get in their vehicle, I dont know,” said Michael Lujan, a retired captain with the who lost the election to be sheriff to Chad Bianco last year. “It is pretty embarrassing. It’s unfortunate because now we have additional narcotics out on the street.”
I've made it: Retired Judge Lance Ito (from that case that you may have heard of from the 90s) emailed me today to inform me of a typo in my story.
His email just put the typo in quotes and said "???"
I'm not going to lie, this was an incredibly scary image to witness in person and I had to summon all my bravery to take the photo.

Extremely excited to announce that I’ll be working at the

One of my favorite sounds ever is the sound of Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl"... The cherry chapstick of it. I hope it never goes out of fashion... too romantic
one of my favorite sounds ever is the sound of a crisp new newspaper being read over breakfast for an hour or so… The popping out of it, the folding, the scribbling on the crossword… I hope it never goes out of fashion in our digital world. It is too romantic. 🗞️♥️
Excited to announce that next month I’ll be starting as a reporter covering breaking news for the

fast break desk. I will be leaving the NYC courts chaos for La La Land loopiness, according to this front page.
Can’t wait to move back to my childhood home!
Someone, from many floors up, dropped huge chunks of ice at protesters. No one hit. Easily could have killed someone. Shocking and terrifying. Fell just feet in front of us.
In today’s ridiculous court news, a Brooklyn man was brought to central booking by cops, held in a cell with others, for littering. Cops arrested him on a warrant for a... 2018 littering summons. DA dismissed the case immediately.
A Bronx judge said cops had no legal reason to stop or search teen drill rapper C Blu. She called one cop "incredible and unreliable," and insisted that the January shooting that injured the teen and a cop was the officers' fault

BREAKING: A cop shot and killed a man selling t-shirts outside an East New York nail salon after workers at the salon called cops to remove him, according to staffers for CM Alicka Ampry-Samuel.
I literally live in the building my great-grandmother lived in in the 1960s and today a woman who’s been in the building the whole time told me I “looked familiar” and when I told her I was Rose’s grandson she goes “oh yes, that’s it!”
Me news: Next week will be my last at the Daily News. I've had an amazing few years here covering Brooklyn courts and reporting all around NYC. There's no better environment to learn how to become a journalist and I'm so thankful for the time I had here. Next moves to come!
More photos today from in and outside the Harmonia Hotel, where mostly disabled homeless couples are being forced out to make space for single men kicked out of the Lucerne on the Upper West Side. Hard to explain how devastated these people are. And how unsure of their futures

A Brooklyn state senate staffer was removed from a polling site Tuesday and threatened with arrest by an NYPD officer for wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt, according to a video obtained by the Daily News.
Sitting in the Southern District cafeteria as Sarah Palin and Michael Avenatti make nice. Palin talking "natural immunity." Can confirm that Palin got a salad and dips each bite in the dressing as opposed to pouring it over. Avenatti walks kinda weird.
I have been barred by court officers from entering Brooklyn Supreme Court. They said they’re not letting in anyone “unnecessary.” When I asked if press was unnecessary, they officers started yelling at me.
I spoke with Abner Louima yesterday about whether he thinks the cop who sodomized him in the 70th Precinct with a wooden stick in 1997 should be released from prison after more than two decades behind bars.
Louima told me he forgives, but doesn't forget.

OMG just saw the first NYPD officer I’ve seen in weeks in an N95 mask and I asked him if he thought more officers should wear masks and he SAID HE WAS WEARING IT FOR SEASONAL ALLERGIES AND NOT CORONAVIRUS and that he’s not a doctor and he’s not sure if more cops should wear masks
I found the best place to watch a Knicks game in Los Angeles and the

Two cops accused of callously leaving a motorcyclist and his girlfriend to die in the street after a high-speed Queens chase ended in a wreck could receive a paltry penalty of just 20 lost vacation days, the Daily News has learned.
A man fell on the tracks right as a C train was pulling in. Two men leapt down and helped him off the tracks, getting themselves back to safety moments before the train rolled in.
This was the craziest thing I’ve ever witnessed.
Midyear snapshot of crime stats in Brooklyn:

A routine police stop of a Brooklyn man turned into a Kafkaesque nightmare when cops insisted he wasn’t who he said he was, even after he showed them his driver’s license, and shipped him off to a psych ward for not knowing his name, a new lawsuit claims.

NEW: Antonio Bradley died Saturday after hanging himself with his own clothing in DOC custody at Bronx Supreme Court on June 10 — but DOC will not count it as a death in custody because he was granted "compassionate release" on his deathbed.
“Nice one,” says Jay-Z as he leaves court when I asked him what was more fun, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or testifying for two days in the trial where a perfume brand is suing him for failing to adequately promote their product.

A guy in Brooklyn Federal Court was just getting released on bond and his mother was in the gallery and stood up and asked the judge to add an extra requirement of his bond that he GO TO CHURCH WITH HER EVERY WEEK. The judge declined to order that.
I sprinted from Brooklyn Criminal Court to Brooklyn Supreme today — made great time — to try to ask someone a question who I knew was leaving the building and I got there just in time and the person was walking down Jay St and told me to go fuck myself. It was freaking awesome.
EXCLUSIVE: The NYPD embedded at least one undercover informant among protesters demonstrating against police violence in the wake of George Floyd’s death, a newly unsealed court filing reveals
Every weekend in the NYPost you can find variations of these four articles:
1. UES parent stands up to leftist private school in open letter
2. NYT is violent communist rag that lies to fit its narrative
3. NYC is crime-ridden hellhole
4. Best place for outdoor cocktails in NYC
Can’t wait til the day where I can finish a long day of work, go to the bar, flash my antibody test bracelet, order a cold one (gloved bartender slides it to me, also gloved) take it outside (only outdoor seating), pull down my mask and drink alone, talk to no one.

There’s a known squatter house in my district at 20th Ave and 146th street in College Point. This morning I viewed the house and confronted the squatters personally.
This will not stand on my watch. Homeowners have rights and our neighborhoods deserve better. More action coming.
Sooooo. We’re just. We’re just not gonna talk about the iguana in the middle of the street in DUMBO? We’re gonna pretend we don’t care? Okay. Fine. I don’t get it but fine.
Was having a frigid outdoor meal and tried to order two things which were sold out and then a pigeon absolutely shit all over me it was freaking awesome I love this goddamn city
To those wondering, I am still employed at the LATimes. I grew up around this institution and love it with all my heart, even though it cannot love me - or others - back. Will continue to try to do great work here but am torn up by everything that has happened these past weeks
It’s funny to me when reporters my age or younger use a notebook and a pen to take notes and not the notes app on their phone. What are you trying to prove?
