Please don't start conversations with strangers with a contextless "Hi". I don't mind messages from strangers, but opening with a generic message like that gives me no idea what it is you actually want. Try: "Hi, I wanted to ask _____" or "Hey, can you help with _____?" Also:

I love the baseline zooey vibes of the Pokemon series. "Oh, you're just hitting puberty? Time to go out in the wilderness unsupervised with a bunch of hot animals. And remember, love your Pokemon and bond with them as partners!" But then sometimes it kicks it up a few notches:

I've begun to think that, fundamentally, "animals can't consent" is more of an anti-animal argument than an anti-zoo argument. It's a rejection of animals' intelligence, agency, maturity, capacity, and communication. Much anti-zoo bigotry has roots in anti-animal bigotry.

I just remembered my most anticlimactic coming-out story. In short, I was taking a sexology class. I knew the teacher was zoo-positive, so when an exam asked us to reflect on our own orientation and identity, I decided to answer honestly. First though, I stayed after class...

Here's a language thing that bothers me: People will say that you "teach" humans. Humans "learn". But for the same sort of thing for animals, most people say they are "trained". And rarely does anyone say animals "learn". The phrasing subtly robs them of agency in it all.

Whenever there's a push for rights, there's a backlash against it. When you see people trying to crack down on a group, it's because they see that group is gaining acceptance. There's no need to enforce conformity where conformity already exists. It's proof of silent progress.

I dislike the "attraction is not action" talking point, at least when applied to zoosexuality. I mean, it's true, but it's missing the point. We're not just trying to be accepted for our attractions. Fighting for zoo rights includes the right to be sexually active.

The funny thing about being a lesbian zoo is the bigoted attitudes of "lesbian sex isn't real sex" and "sex with animals is wrong how dare you?" sort of cancel each other out and some laws enacted against zoosexuality don't think to ban lesbian activities. It's free real estate!

There's a feedback effect where, as zoos get more vocal, we get more able to be vocal safely. As in, when zoosexuality is already a discussed topic, one you might just run into, it's more natural to bring it up without having to reveal that you are a zoo.
