@LiamKircher Traveling was an escape from negativity for me. The concept of building anything didn't exist. When you grow up in close proximity to excess of crime, drugs, and brokenness, traveling is good to see there's more. Traveling can build perspective, which can lead to more growth.

When I was 14 I started a project to open a skatepark in my hometown in 2000. 2004 we started by opening a BMX track. Run by our own Nonprofit, not city supported. 2021 a BMX rider who started riding at age 7 in 2004 at said BMX track is representing the 🇺🇸 in the Olympics!

About 3 months ago we found out my dad had cancer, on top of A LOT of other health issues. They said he’d be drained of energy. Stage 3, almost 4, was supposed to be a CHALLENGE. In typical Smoyer fashion, he gave everyone the 🖕. Rang the bell today for being cancer free.

@texasrunnerDFW We did this at the end of ‘21. Though we moved to a totally new town (not a hometown). Left downtown Chicago for a town of ~3K in South Dakota. Great decision! Crime, cost of living, & desire for space driven the decision.

I got my first belt buckle yesterday for trail running. ~61 miles in 19.5 hours—I finished my first 100K race. This was the toughest physical challenge I’ve ever overcome. What a joy! Time to rest up, enjoy the victory, & then determine what’s next.

@realEstateTrent Maybe? Buying at 29 didn’t tie me to anything other than cashflow. Rents received now = > 2X exp & PI $200k in equity HELOC flexibility If done w/ future considerations, the home purchase won’t necessarily be a hiderance. It can be a leg up.

Idea for @wander ... Think honeymoon or anniversary touring packages. Booking 3-4 stays, in different locations, as part of one transaction, so guests get that much a next-level special stay. Obvi gotta partner with a private jet company to tie it together.

In 6 days I’ll toe the line in an attempt to run 62 miles in Texas. I failed both my race attempts last year (50 & 60 milers). Staying off my feet, getting sleep, & eating lots this week. LFG! 😤 Separately, it was finally cold enough for some frosty beards this week.
