It is illegal to take any unfavorable action – including termination – against employees for union-related activities under the National Labor Relations Act. New York is a proud union state. We say no way, no how to intimidation, threats and union busting.

New Yorkers currently receiving benefits do not need to call the DOL to receive these extended benefits. You should continue to certify for unemployment benefits weekly online or through our automated phone system, and you will automatically receive extended benefits.

REMINDER: If you reapply after your BYE date, it will take 2-3 weeks to process your new claim. During this time, you will likely see your claim revert to a $0 rate, a past benefit year date, and/or your original claim. This is normal. (1/2)
