In charge of pre-throw warmups for an 8 year old or professional athlete? I’d write this down👇 (& see Never Stretch Your Shoulder video here: )

Why do we preach so much about draglines as part of our instruction? Listen to Tom House and our other coaches talk about it here, including an example of how important it is from a legend of our sport!

Pitchers that train with us don’t ever need a slide step. In fact, if baseball wants to ban the slide step, particularly from Kid-Pitch through High School, we are all for it (for Health & Development reasons)

Whether you are wondering what travel ball team your 9 year old should play for next season or what college your 18 year old should pursue, keep these words of wisdom in your back pocket
@tomhouse
Eyes level and glove in front! We preach it apart of our programs to get pitchers hitting their spots as they improve their biomechanics and safely increase velocity.

NPA Health-First breaking ball (any age or skill level):
Cut ball in 1/2 with thumb/middle finger; bury it in palm; squeeze it tight & throw it as hard as you can in karate chop hand/forearm position
@tomhouse
We don’t like the word “don’t”, but don’t start throwing until your shoulders are burning in your pre-throw warmup/loosen up process. And don’t be afraid to look weird

Appalachian State's baseball team is generating buzz with their unveiling of a state-of-the-art "Pitching Lab." See how the program hopes to benefit from the addition of technology in the article below.

A common mistake many make with the curve ball is slowing down and altering mechanics. Treat your breakers like a fast ball: Same mechanics; same intent!Just a change in hand position at release.

Why the NPA set position? & why lift toward second?
@tomhouse
Best answer by a non-certified NPA coach will receive a free NPA hat & ultimate training t-shirt in time for stocking stuffing:
A pitcher's set position is the foundation for their entire biomechanical sequence. With the right position, pitcher can increase their velocity and accuracy by maximizing their momentum towards the plate.
@tomhousesports
Two of the more important lessons we have learned from 40+ years of health first research: 1) you have to get your shoulders burning before picking up a ball; 2) Don’t be afraid of looking weird (any thrower, any level)

You might see pitchers or quarterbacks warming up with some of these unconventional drills, but did you know they're all apart of the National Pitching Program?
You might have seen tweets and videos about our towel drills and wondering what in the world it does? Well here is a great breakdown by

: Good Information; By Yourself; No Target; More Holds Than Releases. (One of our protocols is the crossover.)
Two free NPA lids will be shipped to the first person who knows why the second pitch was destined to be a better & healthier pitch than the first. (Best answer wins. Certified NPA Coaches may not participate)

One set of rules & 1,000,000 interpretations of the rules
@tomhouse
Rule: Spine needs to be center of rubber to center of target at release. Check drag line first.
"Don't try to be skilled until nerves can talk to muscle" It's important for parents and coaches to remember every pitcher will develop differently as they get older!
@tomhouse
Never sacrifice Health-First mechanics for intent! This is an elite Run N Gun by an elite thrower: Eyes Level, Firm Front Side, Drag Back Foot & GFF. Thanks for sharing a part of your process

It may be beneficial for some pitchers to take a break from pitching, but we recommend throwing year-round and playing catch with flat ground throwing in an off-season throwing program.

“If you sleep better than your competition, you play & they go home." Can you think of a better reason to make sure you're getting a good nights sleep!
@tomhousesports
Our towel drills are extremely popular, but even more important, they're effective at getting blood flowing and movement important for recovery and being a cross-specific training drill!
@tomhouse
By creating a strong energy angle, which is how a pitcher directs their energy from first movement to the peak of their leg lift, pitchers will keep their velocity up with strong mechanics.
How do the greatest athletes keep a positive mindset and continue to thrive in stressful situations? Tom House has taken his observations of great pitchers like Nolan Ryan and implemented it into the National Pitching program.

The only difference between a QB & a pitcher is the weight of the implement & timing to foot strike
