Can we take the empty large hotels in Male’ and make it accommodation centers for doctors, nurses, etc as required so they don’t have to go home and risk infecting their families while at work? Probably someone must have thought about this. Anyways

My family lived in various houses of Male’ City, struggling to pay rent, abused, moving from one ward to the other. Mom struggled for us. She worked for a man for accommodation who urinated on her bed. Took care of a family of a drug convict in return for accommodation.

My wife had two c-sections in threeyears, her spine injected both times with a long assed needle that still hurts her back when she tires. The hardest thing was having to send her back to work after 3 months after each baby was born as we needed her salary to support our family.

The electricity bill is higher than any month, the water bill too. I can pay it, but after rent, kids expenses, food etc this is going to leaves us short. We have to dip in to savings 😟Bottom line, I can manage IA. But many can’t. Lack of financial literacy rears it’s ugly head.

Maldives has a debt or borrowing culture. There’s an installment contract on almost every motorbike, smartphone, furniture set, household electronics set etc. Almost every landowner, student, working class adult has a loan or credit card debt (I do) & interest eats up our money.

Before Dad got the flat in Hulhumale the only landlords we met who were kind were from Ma. Pines, @Maai_786 family. They were amazing, I still remember the soccer boots they gave me for my birthday. We were sometimes late on rent but they were kind to us.

I also remember a cruel old woman who was one of our series of landlords, who puts makeup on and her hobby was belittling my mom, and my siblings. I remember the houses, I remember each moment of humiliation. I can never ever forget it.

A girl had a severe case of polycistic ovary syndrome which deformed her facial hair & derailed her menstrual cycle. She could menstruate for a month non-stop at times. Her label at a certain office was ‘Ley Manaa Nuvaa Firihen Koamas’ I saw her die a little inside everyday.

Had to take my infant son to hospital last night at 2am. Wasn’t easy getting a taxi. For a moment I went blank thinking about which number to dial to get a vehicle. Ambulance or taxi? Which would be faster? I needed advice. We really need professional paramedic services.

I’ve always hated those small inter-island transport boats that offer trips for rf 1000-1500 between Hanimaadhoo and neighbouring islands. Same in Th. Atoll. Issue is not everyone can afford a gulf craft as it charges 3000rf one way and total cost lands at 6000rf

Woke don’t understand ‘Friends’. The woke don’t understand nuance. I think most sensible people realise that opinions and attitudes change over time. The woke are dogmatic though and always judge everything from a 2021 lens. Friends was also extremely progressive for its time.
