We fly to NYC in the morning…my daughter has written a letter to the pilot as a method of communicating her feelings. I couldn’t love her more 🥰 planning a holiday is different when you have to factor in additional needs but it’s so worth it 🌆🇺🇸🥰

We decided to do something different this year and give all of our Year 6 leavers a copy of
@MarcusRashford
book ‘You are a Champion’!
We hope it inspires them to do great things & believe in themselves 💜
@MarcusRashford
if you want to send a message for them, we’d love that!
We made it!
@British_Airways
have been amazing! She met the pilots on both planes (Manchester and Heathrow). They answered her questions and let her in the cockpit! Couldn’t fault it and a positive experience for us all! ✈️🥰🛬🇺🇸
I’ve got an ECT starting at my school this week. I wanted to do something special for her so I made a goodie bag of little things. I asked our SLT to write a few words of wisdom for her card...
If you’re an ECT starting this week I thought you might like this too 🥰

I taught Reception today as we are so short staffed…it’s been the best day ever! We’ve played, read books, made stick men, made homes for the stick men, got messy and laughed so much! Reception is good for the soul! 🥰

Recently, I changed my routine and started 6.15am classes at my local gym and prioritised my health and well-being so that I can be the best version of myself. 4 weeks in…1 stone 3lbs down and still managing to get to x3 morning classes a week…I hope I can continue this…🤞🏼
“We are really hoping that from September we won’t have the bubbles”
Head teacher Sarah White tells
#BBCBreakfast
a decision on whether bubbles in schools will continue is needed now.
I’m not a big Twitter celeb and just tweet in the ordinary capacity that is just me....so when I wake up to a DM like this it absolutely makes my day ⭐️ when people take the time to say kind things it really does make a huge difference ☀️
I read somewhere that tomorrow is meant to be the most miserable day of the year…
So I nipped to Aldi this morning to buy stuff for breakfast for the staff in the morning. Hopefully kick start the day in a positive way! Fruit, yoghurt, croissants, crumpets and a few treats too!
I’ve been to pick up the keys from the current Headteacher at my new schools tonight. She has been absolutely brilliant with me (and all my questions) over the last few months and I feel like I’ve made a friend 🥰 she’s helped me to hit the ground running in September 👍🏼💜
Siams inspection today…
In school for 5.30am as I couldn’t sleep but I had to stop and take this photo on my way in…how beautifully reassuring that today will be a good day 🙏❤️
I made sure that my school events didn’t clash with my children’s school. The weather put a stop to that when my children’s sports day was cancelled yesterday. Today I had to choose between going to my children’s or my school’s. I chose my children. Staff understood💜
#familyfirst
You know you’re a teacher when you go into B&M for toothpaste and zoflora but come out with a boot full of stuff like this that all in the sale! Some absolutely bargains for my new schools today 🤣
After 7years of headship it’s still hard to get my head around the fact that I won’t please everyone and sometimes we will be blamed or made to feel like it’s us in the wrong....even when it isn’t...
I love this classroom at my school. My new teacher (ECT) has ‘made’ this...I can’t wait to see the children’s faces when they come back to school tomorrow 🥰💙

Last night my Reception teacher text me and asked if I fancied a day in Reception helping set up the provision. I think she knew I needed a day of non-office jobs! I never taught EYFS when I was still class-based....but I wish I had. I’ve had the best day being creative! 🍀🌳🌿🌻
I’ve been collecting bits the last few months for my annual ‘thank you’ raffle where every single staff member’s name goes in the raffle each day in December. Some treats from me to show them I care 💜 a small gesture of appreciation at Christmas 🎄
I stood up for my own mental health and well-being today and I’m proud.
I know that detaching from work on a weekend is important but I sometimes struggle to do that.
This weekend is about time with my family 🥰
I’m so excited for tomorrow…I completely cleared my diary so I can spend the whole day in Reception with the teacher helping with developing the learning environment. After 3 very ‘heavy’ weeks, I’m really looking forward to this 🥰🌿🍂🪵🎨🍁
I gave up Chocolate for Lent and gave what I would’ve spent to charity. I also committed to doing 10,000 steps a day. It’s been eye opening and so good for me in so many ways! I’ve lost 1 stone 8lbs and I’m definitely happier. Maybe chocolate isn’t the best thing for me ha ha!
@jonathanteacher
I always saw a young lady when she used to run in the morning. Over the years I saw her get faster, then get pregnant, then run with a pram and now she rides a bike with her son. It’s been lovely to see her journey but I’d be scared to say hello in case she thought I was weird!
Enjoying a cup of tea in the garden at 7am whilst my family are still sleeping 🥰 the sun is shining and it’s the weekend 🎉 have a great day everyone - you all deserve it after this week!
I’ll never be a marathon runner 🏃♀️ but I’m back doing my little 5k jogs after not doing any running since the summer. I run for me, my headspace and my mental health. I’m happier when I run🏃♀️👍🏼😝
After being inspired by
@Alex_Bramley3
and his staff well-being advent calendar I decided to make one for our pupils. I’ve gathered ideas from different places and made it into a daily PowerPoint. If anyone would like a copy I’ll try my best to share it somehow 🤣
Thank you so much everyone for your offers of help….we are working with the contractors at the moment to asses the damage but it’s not looking good 😭 we’ve set up a go fund me page if anyone wants to help? We need to buy all new books 📚 ….
Mrs White has some news that she'd like to share...
After 14 years at Coates Lane, this will be Mrs White's last term here as our Headteacher. She is leaving us to begin a new job as an Executive Headteacher at two other schools in Lancashire.
Please read her letter below 💙
I took a day to work from home today.
The first time I’ve done that since I started my new job in September.
I’ve worked solidly since 7.30am
I’ve literally crossed about 20 things off my to do list and feel so productive! 💪🏼
I made a decision about playtime.
Some TAs came to me. They didn’t think it was a good idea - the old way worked better.
I listened to them.
They were right.
I changed it.
I love that we’ve grown a culture where staff feel confident to speak up 💪🏼🥰

Last week I got a letter from Barnoldswick Town Council inviting me to an award ceremony. I had no idea what to expect…
Tonight I had the honour of receiving a Pride of Barnoldswick Award for Outstanding Leadership. I’m shocked but so proud! I love my community 💙
#barnoldswick
This week I had a challenge in school....I rang my friend who is a head in another school and she came and spent the day with me today to help sort it out. Now that is kindness and support for you!
#lancashireheads
#workingtogether
thank you so much
@Whitefieldhead
😍
I de-cluttered my conservatory, gave it a fresh link of paint and went shopping to
@DunelmUK
today for my self-care Sunday. I’ve ordered a little green sofa to go in there too and it makes me so happy 🤣🍃🌿
A weekend checking in on my parents (480 mile round trip to wales on Friday night/Saturday, then spending time with my husband & children today. Refusing to check emails or do school work as I’m once again having to remind myself about work/life balance & putting myself first 💪🏼
Ofsted day 2 today....bring it on! I can’t get over the amount of support and well wishes we’ve had from the local community 😍 even our local high school popped in yesterday with chocolates and a card! That’s Barnoldswick for you!

I’ve been busy with my little gift bags again 🌈🥰
A thank you and (hopefully) a motivator for my wonderful staff to start the summer term 💙
Every singe staff member will receive one of these 👍🏼
Today I got to drop my little boy off for his first day of school. This is such a treat as a headteacher...I rarely get to do drop offs or pick ups. So glad I have a Governing Body that understands that me and my staff are parents as well as teachers 😍
Thank you to everyone for your comments. The response is unbelievable! I'm very glad that so many people have found comfort in it. I have been contacted by lots of people/the media and I will respond tomorrow. Today, I am 'mummy' 🥰
Thank you for your kindness 💜
Mrs White x
I got this gorgeous little book of positive phrases for my daughter for Christmas and we’ve been reading a few every night. I think it’s helped me as much as her 🤣 I’m tempted to photocopy some for my office!
Today was tough….it’s relentless at the moment in schools. As well as speaking to my school advisor, I rang and used the
@Headrest_UK
free service. It was just what I needed and highly recommend it to other Heads! Thank you for being just what I needed today 💪🏼

Started to get to know the staff and build relationships ✅
Met the cleaners and property guy ✅
LOTS of questions✅
A happy heart 💜
I went to school in my joggers today and had such a productive day! 👍🏼
🌟 Sorted our ‘cabin’ and made into a productive learning space
🌟 Helped make some ‘doorways to learning’
🌟 Did lots of tidying up around school!
🌟 Spent time playing with and talking to pupils
I couldn’t resist pulling over this morning and taking a picture.
-7 degrees and perfectly quiet and calm ❄️ the moon in the sky and the sun rising behind me.
I needed that this morning … to just stop, breathe and take in this beautiful view 💙
I have a whole day to myself today…my own children are still at school, my husband is working and my plan is to enjoy the sunshine and get a few ‘me’ jobs done. The out of office is on and I’m looking forward to some quality family time after today ☀️
....and pound is back!!! Thank you
@MrsJonesEYFS
for providing this for our pupils at lunchtime! It’s so much fun and beneficial in so many ways!
@pendlesgo
@LancsPE
A year ago I had a breakdown through stress which led to 5 weeks off work....
Now I’m the strongest I’ve ever been, physically and mentally 💪🏼
I had support around me to lift me out of that black hole and I fought back.
Lesson learned = talk about how you’re feeling!
I love it that I can still sit out at 10.30pm and not stress about getting up early in the morning 🤣 it’s the best feeling when you know you’ve got the whole summer holidays ahead of you 🥰
Anyone else on the verge of tears today? The enormity of what we’ve been through this term has just hit...
Proud of my team doesn’t even begin to cover it 🥰💐
Ofsted done at
@BrennandsCE
this week! Although extremely thorough and challenging, it was fair and it felt like it was a collaborative experience with meaningful discussions. The inspectors were kind and friendly and looked for the positives. I’m tired now though 🤣
My children’s school have been great this term….and every term to be honest! I wanted them to know how grateful we are so I decided to get a little treat box for the staff room that they can enjoy during the Christmas madness 🤣🎅🏼🎄🥰
I’ve given all my staff a ‘well-being day’ to take before Monday....
I told them to use it to do whatever boosts their mental health and well-being.
I love getting messages like this and seeing the benefit that one little day can have 👍🏼

Such a brilliant day with
#WomenEd
It was amazing to meet so many inspirational women including the wonderful
@ShanazHussain3
. Time to talk, connect and reflect!
@WomenEdNW
🌻Gorgeous flowers from my deputy and bursar
🌻A nice catch up on the phone
🌻 A caring text from my Chair of Governors
I feel so much better now and so fortunate to have a wonderful SLt and CoG 🥰
@Thinkingschool2
I was told that when I first got my deputy headship in 2007….plus I was told that I wasn’t emotionally ready for how hard it would be. I proved them wrong and showed them how being kind is something that we should all be 👍🏼
…and that’s a wrap! 14 years here and so many amazing memories 💜
Now it’s time to move on and start the next chapter of my life!
Thank you
@CoatesLaneSch
for just being so wonderful ⭐️
I spent the full day meeting the TAs one by one today. It was such a great opportunity to really talk honestly with them and gave me the opportunity to show them how much I value them 🥰 quality time to build relationships and trust as a head new to the school has been pivotal!
Happy New Year everyone! It’s been a tough Christmas break for my family so I’m grateful that we don’t return to work until the 8th. A day at the beach today was so refreshing!
I wish lots of happiness and health to everyone and hope 2024 is a fabulous year 🙏💪🏼
My school adviser is fab! He turned up for our meeting this morning with these and a listening ear. I cannot fault the support I’ve had from
@DBESchoolAdvice
this term during what has been one of the most challenging terms in my career so far 🥰
The flight was so worth it! We are loving NYC…a slight wobble going up the Empire State Building but we loved it when we got to the top. Sometimes you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone to enjoy life to the fullest 💜🇺🇸🌆
Friday…
SATS monitoring visit
Got told we are being moderated in KS2 & we are on the list for a SIAMs from Sept
Had to tell a staff member her hours are being reduced
My daughter in pieces after a stressful week (not just sats)
Tomorrow the sun will shine & it’s a new day!☀️
I didn’t realise just how much I needed this last week in the sun ☀️
I read 4 books (not education related!), spent quality time with my little family, ate too much and laughed a lot!
Time to breathe and just be me ☀️🏖️✈️

I love my school...tonight I overheard (in the entrance way) my site supervisor and after school club leader singing ‘London’s Burning’ and loving it so much that they then decided to sing it in a round and cheer themselves when they got it right 🤣 I couldn’t stop giggling 🤣👍🏻
I’m absolutely blown away today...I’ve had so many cards and handwritten letters sent to school and even this gorgeous gift box off
@TempleSpa
. Kindness really does spread and I’m very grateful for the kind words I’ve received the last week 🥰🥰
I popped into my new school today to start painting my office…it was lovely to find these on my desk. A card and some chocolates of the Headteacher who I’m taking over from and some lovely pottery off some pupils 🥰
What a day! 🌧
The local authority, the contractors, the health and safety team, my site supervisor and SBM have all been fantastic! Plus everyone on here has been so kind!
Time for a run 🏃♀️
Tomorrow is a new day 💪🏼
My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with autism today.
We’ve known it since she was little but girls with autism present so differently.
I’m glad we fought her corner and I’m so incredibly proud of her for the young lady she’s growing into 💙💙
