Last week Lidl announced it was set to trial a detergent refill machine to reduce plastic. Would you be likely to use something similar if it opened near you?
Today
@MartinSLewis
is urging the Chancellor to postpone planned April hikes to energy bills and keep the Energy Price Guarantee at a typical £2,500/yr.
If he doesn’t, millions more could fall into fuel poverty.

You're getting the train from London to Glasgow. Your ticket costs £83.50, but you'll need lunch, drinks and snacks for the long journey.
However, you can buy a first class ticket for £97.00, which includes a free lunch, newspapers and Wi-Fi... which would you choose? 🚂

We've heard that Asda is opening the UK's largest refill store, and it's got us thinking - with the prices being lower that packaged items for things like tea, coffee, cereal and even some hair products, would you be likely to use something similar if it opened near you?
Parents - we're sorry to say it's that time of the year again, when the Elf on the Shelf has to come out of hiding...
Coming up with 24 new and creative ideas isn't easy, so in true MSE style, let's come together and share! Here are some you've sent in previous years 😆
Email from my boys’ school about World Book Day. Because of the cost of living “instead of coming to school in costume, we are having a ‘Get Comfy and Read’ day”. Home clothes and something comfy.
I love it! The MONEY the parents will save and the WASTE that will be avoided

Good news for millions across the UK – energy bills will NOT go up by 20% on 1 April!
Thank you to all the organisations who joined the call to help prevent what could have been an 'act of national mental health harm.'
What it means for your bills:
CONFIRMED: The Energy Price Guarantee 20% rise has been postponed from April to July - meaning in practice it's cancelled. Exactly what my letter (below) to Chancellor asked for. Thanks to the govt for listening & to the 135 charities backing the campaign
Video explainer to come
A petition to introduce a four-day week in schools is being debated in Parliament today, with supporters saying it would improve students' mental health. Do you think it could work?
Asda is offering completely free meals for kids in all of its cafes throughout December. There's no minimum spend and no obligation for their accompanying adult to buy anything. Spread the word to families who may need it 🍴

Morrisons will be giving away wonky carrots across all of its supermarkets from 22 - 24 December.
They may be slightly irregular in shape or appearance, but are totally fine to eat - even for Rudolph!
Would you eat wonky veg at Christmas?
BOOM. Great news last night,

Cyclists could be forced to have number plates and insurance under a radical shake-up of road laws.
Do you think it's a good idea to bring restrictions on cyclists into line with those for drivers? Or should cyclists be given more protections as in other countries? 🚲
Earlier this week, Atom Bank introduced a four-day working week for all its staff without cutting pay, becoming the biggest UK employer to do so. Would you be interested in this becoming the norm?

Greggs has just opened its 30th outlet store, where you can get up to 75% off day-old food in a bid to tackle food waste. 🍩
Would you like to see more shops open outlet stores where you can grab big bargains?
As the world's biggest four-day work week trial begins this week in the UK, we'd love to know whether you think this should become the norm? And what would you do with your extra weekend day if you worked a four-day week?

Recently, MSE staff have started to ask themselves philosophical questions like: Why do washing machines have windows and dishwashers don't? Why aren't clothes sizes the same everywhere? Why don't toaster have windows?
Have you been having these random debates with yourself?
It's been reported that more of us are turning back to using cash as a way to manage our budgets.
Have you been using cash more or less since the start of the year? 💷
On its 21st birthday, here's to the Nokia 3310 - and yes, this one is still fully functioning (MSE Becca was switching the Sim for her granddad). Its only job was to call, text and play Snake - those were the days! Do you have any 'vintage' tech at home?

We've got a scenario. You need to get from London to Manchester and back. These are the ONLY two options you can choose from - a train taking two hours and five mins each way costing £94.50 return OR a coach taking five hours 15 mins each way costing £23.80. What do you take?
The Government has chosen not to protect you from ticket touts.
It has rejected official Competition and Markets Authority proposals for a fresh clampdown on professional resellers charging inflated prices.

MSE Becca spotted this in her local Morrisons. You basically take a pre-packed bag of essentials and you can scan it through with your shopping, then drop it off at a food bank collection point on your way out. Have you seen anything similar?
The other day we asked: 'With energy prices rising and the weather turning colder, what unusual things do you do to cut down your use?' This reply has set the bar pretty high! 🤣🤣

People going through the menopause in England will be able to get their HRT prescriptions for less from Saturday 1 April.
This could save hundreds of thousands of people £100s in prescription charges each year.
Here's how ⬇️
With news that Morrisons is bringing back glass milk bottles in Kent and Sheffield, we wondered if you would pay extra to get your milk from the supermarket in a reusable glass bottle?
If you get an unfair ticket in a private car park, don't automatically pay it. These supposed 'fines' handed out are merely invoices, and are often unenforceable, so we've three routes to fight them 🚗

So grab your Nectar card and pop down to Sainsbury's from Wednesday 17 April if you want to nab one (or two, or ten)
Okay everyone, calm down - it looks like the rumours of Woolworths returning are fake 🤯 But you know what? It got us thinking... is there still a place on the high street for a shop like Woolworths?
Have you tried 'downshifting' some of the products you buy? It could save you a LOT.
Why not start by making the switch from Heinz Beanz to a supermarket-own brand.
You might not even notice the difference! 😉
