18 years old: When
@FarFromSubtle
and I started dating
18 by Moby: The album we fell in love to
18th of March 2018: The date we got hitched
18 years: How long we've been kickin' it together
Wish I could buy a lottery ticket with 18 on it, but you bitches know, I've already won.
Today we said goodbye to our Hugo-kun. From the streets of Toronto as a kitty, him and Ruds journeyed with us across the country to Vancouver. 12 years later, across the world to Japan. He loved nothing more than being up
@FarFromSubtle
โs butt and a good nap on the sunshine.
That was a horrible few days, but our Ruddager seems stable right now. Starting new meds tomorrow. Hoping he can get some sleep.
But right now heโs purring up a storm, perched on
@FarFromSubtle
โs shoulder, his favourite spot.
Pure bliss! I live for these two.
Echo loves her daddy so much.
Fraser is killing this stay at home dad thing. Most days he makes all three of my meals and keeps this babe happy while Iโm at work.
Happy birthday to this beautiful man! (
@FarFromSubtle
, not standing Buddha.)
I quite adore him, as you know. His dedication to the the things he loves is unyielding. His ambition is tireless. And he makes me laugh every friggin day.
Thanks for being unquestionably YOU Fraser-San.
Happy birthday to my gorgeous Fraser-san!
Itโs been 20 years since some of these pictures were taken. But we still have the same vibes man.
Thanks for being such a kick ass partner in love and life.
Ten years ago today, we were celebrating the Vancouver Olympics. What a CRAZY fun time that was!
Now,
@FarFromSubtle
and I are gearing up to celebrate the Tokyo Olympics!
Bonus pic: Me carrying the Olympic Torch and getting interviewed for TV (I totally forgot that happened!).
I canโt even handle how much I love this kid!
Worth the incredibly difficult five year wait. Iโm wishing anyone going through fertility issues success in your future.
Happy birthday to my FAVOURITE Benny-Boo in the whole wide world! I love you and all the crazy adventures weโve been on. Many of which were so fun, neither of us can remember them!
Hope you had an AWESOME birthday bud.
You GUYS! Today was so amazing! Got to swim, and hike, and eat delicious food and hang out with my man
@FarFromSubtle
!
Canโt wait to head back to
#Hatonosuko
again!
Happy birthday to my sunshine โฆ
@FarFromSubtle
โฉ. Thank you for sharing this crazy life journey and exploring the world with me. Love you up to the sky and back!
As a teen I asked my parents why they didn't go out with friends more. W/o missing a beat mom said "I have my best friend right here" and gestured to dad "Why would I need to go out?" I thought it was a lame answer then, but it clearly stuck with me.
Happy 50th Anniversary!
Iโค๏ธU!
Just like that weโve been in Japan for two years!
But this year barely even counts due to COVID. I mean, look how empty Sensoji Temple in Asakusa was!
Whoโs pumped for another E3 with me and olโ Frash?! Or are you one of those โI'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt and my butt smells and...I like to kiss my own buttโ people?
Cuz Iโm pumped!
When my partner's ear-pods accidentally connect to my computer, I immediately look up porn and put it on super loudly. It's possibly one of my favourite things to do in life.
On a quiet bike ride one day,
@FarFromSubtle
says โDo you think there are two lifeโs?โ
I was like... damn, thatโs deep.
Is he referring to our life?
Like... before and after moving to Japan?
Turns out heโs asking about the number Life Grocery Stores in our neighbourhood.
Seven years ago.
@FarFromSubtle
and I doing an informal Q&A session at PAX East in Boston.
I miss things. But at least we have photos and videos to look back on.
In the spirit of not just posting the positives, it's ok to be sad around the holidays. I missed my fam like crazy this year and had to have a cry a few times.
@FarFromSubtle
was amazingly supportive. I'm pretty lucky to have that guy. Stay strong buds. Much love!
Feels like we live in a reverse aquarium!
Have a tub full of water, extra drinking water, food and an evacuation plan if need be. Trying to stay safe!
#TyphoonHagibis
Caught on camera! This extremely rare sighting of a Frash taking a nap. I had heard that lilโ olโ Frashโs neeeeever sleep! Must have been under the influence of Hugoโs siren song.
I DID IT! I managed to order all the TURBO tees with one minute to spare! Iโd like to thank
@FarFromSubtle
for the back massages; kitties for cuddles; and all my fans for your moral support.
Four years ago! Fraser and I falling in love with Japan on our second trip.
It would have blown my MIND then if you told me Iโd be living in Tokyo the next year.
It was a very Moomin Christmas this year!
@FarFromSubtle
bought me a beautiful hardcover book of Moomin comics, a Moomin planner and Little My stickers. THEN we went to Moominvalley Park in Saitama for the day. It was a festive, lovely place to spend Christmas.
@FarFromSubtle
Freaking new guy, showing me up. On set an hour before start time. There to greet the boss. Bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Just you wait little Hugo. Soon enough you'll be like me. Showing up five minutes before show time. Tired, crabby and usually drunk.
I made us some ridiculously tasty vegan chilli tonight.
#VEGAN
! Can you believe this?! It tasted so similar to our old meat chilli recipe, but a bit fresher. So excited to have this in our winter rotation. It was some much needed comfort food.
Been a rough couple days. On the advice of our immigration lawyer, I had to cancel my Christmas trip to Canada. I am crushed. My family means the world to me. I havenโt seen them in so long. I want to hug them. Play cards. Eat home-y food. Watch them play hockey. Chat for hours.
Happy birthday to my beautiful sunshine โฆ
@FarFromSubtle
โฉ!
One of my favourite recent picture of him. Always playing with cameras and gadgets. I just have to remember to get shot of him as well one in a while.
Love you up to the sky and back!
In 2010 I got to run the Olympic Torch in Salmon Arm, BC.
Like most Vancouverites, I wasnโt super keen on the games coming to Vancouver.
But this experience, the various countries houses/pubs and the events in general quickly captured my heart.
Then thereโs this frigginโ guy.
Finished dinner, pulled the kotatsu blanket over himself, kitties came to cuddle and heโs ready for bed.
I guess thatโs one benefit to sleeping on the main floor with Ruddager these nights.
Today is a HUGE day! My parents are moving out of the house they designed, built and raised our family in for the past 48 years! One of my happiest places in the whole entire world!
(Luckily my sister and her fam bought it, so it gets to stay in our fam-amily.)
Home Sweet Home!
Iโm back in Canada!
Insanely happy to see my family and get tons of hugs.
Iโve eaten cheese with every mealโฆ I may need to start pacing myself.
And I have been put off by the fact that the toilets donโt flush themselves and there are no bidets.
Today
@FarFromSubtle
and I biked to Koganei Park. We had no idea it had over 100 plum trees! What a lovely surprise. We settled under one, on our blanket, for a beer and a little rest.
Fun fact: This park is about 10 minutes away from Studio Ghibli headquarters!
Our sleeping arrangements these days. We bring everything downstairs each night and back up each morning so we can keep an eye on our Ruddager through the night. The kitties seem to be loving our sleepovers.
