@Bajan_Papi @fox5dc Sniffer dogs are highly specialized. Dogs that check for bombs aren't drug dogs. Even drug dogs have a specific range of drugs they're trained to check for. The fact they put this much into sniffing out pot shows just how much criminalization is profitable.

There's literally no difference between a person becoming dependant on opioids after a serious injury and getting hooked taking them to soothe trauma from abuse or structural violence. In both cases a person took a drug to mitigate pain and suffering. There's only 1 difference.

Until you've had to stand in line waiting for a bag of largely discarded food, looking into the condescending smiles of those workers who go to the grocery store and choose what they eat, you can't fathom how demeaning and dehumanizing it is. Go try it out if you dare. It sucks.

I've learned all I can from pain, thank you. I've been through many of the most painful conditions you can get without dying, and frankly there's a hard limit to what you could possibly learn. The detriments far outweigh any "lessons" to be found. Stop telling people this shit.

Instead of finding solutions the entire system is set up to stabilize people exactly long enough to wash its hands of them once again. They live in a perpetual cycle, going from streets to psychiatric care, never actually being placed in housing or long term supervision.

I'm really getting sick of the ever increasing police presence in the Village during Pride. For an occasion that started with throwing bricks at them they've sure turned this into a major cash grab. Cops will get a big raise. Unhoused queers will get kicked out their space.

Highly unpopular topic: I am hugely uncomfortable with families of drug poisoning victims being centered in the discussion about drug users. Why? The reasons for drug use can often be traced back to the home. I know my mother would quickly blame drugs if I were to OD.
