I cannot stress this enough.
The ocean is a very powerful thing and if you underestimate it, this is what happens. Don't take risks, and keep a safe enough distance from sea fronts!

Holy sh*t.
So it looks like there was a tornado ripping through jersey around midnight alongside golf ball sized hail. A severe thunderstorm / highly likely supercell passed through the Island!

An incredible
#Aurora
display across a lot of northern and central Europe tonight as a G3 geomagnetic storm takes place.
Below is footage is from Stanča, southeastern Slovakia at 48N latitude.

Incredibly close lightning from an overhead thunderstorm in Warwickshire about half an hour ago, closest I've seen in my life.
Apologies for the excitement there 😂

Proper wintry scenes on the North York Moors at the moment!
Lots of snow reports coming in across the north but mainly on higher ground areas.

Where the

Strong winds are not the only hazard tonight!
Rain combined with snow melt is creating flooding issues such as the A684 in the Yorkshire Dales near Bainbridge!

Frequent lightning, squally winds & likely flash flooding when it goes through your location. You'll know when it comes!

Scenes in
#Athens
, Greece yesterday.
In the UK it's very rare to see such amounts of
#snow
, even during the coldest spells, let alone a city in the Mediterranean, which holds the second HOTTEST temperature ever recorded in Europe of 48⁰C.

One my favourite convective timelapses from a webcam in Saint Laurent De Neste, in the French Pyrenees today.
It shows convection trying to break through a lid / cap, with several attempts, before breaking out into thunderstorms!
A very interesting process.
What a night! I do not remember such an active night for

during mid September in quite a few years.
London and central south in the firing zone now!

Very concerning footage emerging from Volos, in Greece, where the same area was heavily impacted by flooding from storm Daniel a few weeks back.
Currently a stationary

Some webcam footage of the possible
#tornado
in
#Widnes
, Cheshire.
Difficult to deduce whether it was one or just some strong straight line winds, but increasing evidence suggests that it indeed was a weak tornado.

Very likely to be visible from the UK particularly outside the cities away from light pollution in the coming hours.

A592 Kirkstone pass still looks impassable, and with around 15 inches of level snow this morning you can see why!
An event many will remember for a long time in that part of England!
