So many people directly and indirectly involved in the conflict feel unheard, misunderstood and mistreated. That’s something we can change, no matter where we live.

Thank you to everyone who alerted me to my photo being stolen and used by a fake account making accusations against
@NICKIMINAJ
. Lock down your privacy settings, everyone!
To be clear: I never had a secret life as the "ex-assistant" of
@NICKIMINAJ
. Someone stole my photo and used it in a fake account. Fraudulent impersonation wasn't the way I envisioned being mentioned in
@Newsweek
, but hey, scammers gonna scam.
PS thx for the job offer

🤪💖 lol
Speaking of jobs,
@Newsweek
check out
@YouthonRecord
– my favorite Denver nonprofit creating job pipelines for young musicians and creatives. Nicki, if you’re ever in town, let’s set up a tour of their studio 💛👋! You'd love it.
Ok you know TF what? 😂😂😂 well hey, if you ever need a job hit me up. I feel bad 😅 but hey, cheers to Newsweek! 🥴 always a silver lining 😕 i- i guess ? 😫
It pisses me off when people "fire" their unhappiness onto others by stealing identities, spreading rumors, seeking revenge etc
@NICKIMINAJ
. It's a good thing I wrote a book about
#forgiveness
:) Maybe I should re-read it myself lol

Thank you! Creepy as it is, it also made me laugh, which I appreciate. And I agree it's always worth looking for silver linings :) Hopefully we've seen the last of "Kate."
The way they transcend the mean pettiness (and racism) of the press and the monarchy continues to inspire. Imagine being criticized for supporting your husband after the loss of his grandmother and showing up with

What a treat to have some truly great headlines to celebrate for once! (But also, Manchin is like the player in high school who had 100 times more power than he merited and took a sadistic joy in toying with people. Let's hope he stays the course on this one).
We now have a game-changing clean energy and climate package ready to go in the Senate. What's in the "Inflation Reduction Act of 2022?" $369 billion in transformative investments.
Here's one BIG, IMPORTANT climate policy thread...🧵
My husband & I paid off all $160k of our student loans. And we're not screaming "unfair!" about forgiving a measly 10k. Because you know what's unfair? Shifting the *massive* cost of education from taxpayers onto the backs of kids for life. It's usury.

Yesterday a local high school went into lockdown over a prank shooter call; today my 7-yr-old has a lockdown drill. Decades from now, once we have strong

laws and

infrastructure, we'll look back at this era with horror and shame.

What do you do when you have to write something that you don't want to write and all you really want is to get it over with but you can't get started? I already tried coffee, sugar and a walk. About to launch music and a candle. Other ideas?

Thanks to

for the thoughtful article about the YOR Block Party, programs, and co-ownership of UMS!
The

feed is a reminder that at least 95% of writing is continuing in the face of fairly constant rejection, failure and disappointment. And no matter what happens or doesn't happen, that alone is a goddamn inspiration.

Now, how about a plan to make Higher Ed affordable? My home state of New Mexico passed

tuition so now we can't just say, "only in Europe." Post-secondary school AND job training benefit all of society and should be free.

Earlier this year, I took a job as a narrative designer at a video game company. Here are three things I learned while writing video games that made me a better novelist 🧵 (1/14)
August, you're so cute with your campaign to take us down with extreme heat, neverending childcare snafus and school emails, back-to-school illnesses and "parents only" school meetings (hello, thoughtless event scheduling!). We're FINE, so move along, worst month of the year!
I haven't read a quote this prescient in years. A summary of our era from
#JFK
: "Too often we rely on the comfort of opinion rather than the discomfort of thought."
Went to a school safety meeting and one of the district officers said in passing, "in the age of mass shootings.."The Age of Mass Shootings. We're almost a quarter century in. When will we end it?

V. Conflicted about this because on the one hand, it's traumatic. On the other, multiple people in Highland Park and other shootings said the kids knew exactly what to do and did not freeze up.
Lying in bed w/ my 7 yo & he told me about the “bad guy drills” they did in kinder last year.
“First, we go in the closet. We aren’t allowed to talk at all. Even if we’re scared, we don’t cry bc the bad guy might hear us have a gun and kill us. It’s better if we don’t breathe.”
