Serious question for ‘23-‘24 grads. Take a weekend over the summer. You play 4 games against a local team with no viable college prospects. You get a bunch of hits, strike out a ton of guys, etc. There are no college coaches present. Is that a productive weekend? #baseball

Today begins the D1 Quiet Period with two dead periods sprinkled in until March. For those players being asked to play in tournaments or off campus showcases during this time, there will be no D1 coaches present, despite what you’re told. Don’t shoot the messenger. 🤷‍♂️ #baseball

“If you’re good, they’ll find you” is the most dangerous myth surrounding the recruitment process. Schools have limited staff & recruiting budgets. They don’t scout random games unless they’re on a guy. You can “hope”, or you can help yourself & prove you’re a dude! #baseball

2025 grads, college coaches are actively reaching out to players, scheduling visits, etc. If your phone isn’t ringing, you’re either not good enough, or nobody knows who you are. Regardless of the why, the problem is fixable, just depends what changes you’re willing to make.

Everyone sees the commitment but they don’t see what lead the player to that point. Leaving the comfort zone, trusting in a new process, time away from family/friends, ruthless competition, tireless hard work, sacrifice… now they reap the rewards. #baseball

The biggest observation I have with running a program is that 3 good months doesn’t make up for 5-6 years of neglect. Unless you’re a super freak athlete type guy, what you’re doing at 13-15u is arguably more important. Choose wisely.

Showcasing is like taking a test. If you slept through class, didn’t study, and don’t value proper preparation, it’s likely you’re going to fail! The fix isn’t signing up for more tests, it’s actually getting better and more prepared so you can dominate the test. #baseball
