I’m disappointed that a select group of Milton residents chose to be part of the problem rather than the solution to our housing affordability crisis.
My office has made it clear that compliance with the law is mandatory.
(1/2)
The housing crisis is going to take all of us to solve, which is why we filed a suit today against Milton.
The MBTA Communities Law was enacted to address our region-wide need for housing, and compliance with it is mandatory. My Office will not hesitate to enforce the law.
Here’s what you need to know: medication abortion is safe, effective & REMAINS AVAILABLE.
If you have questions about medication abortion in MA, call our confidential hotline: 833-309-6301.
My office will use its full legal authority to protect abortion access for all.
Let me be clear: Medication abortion will remain legal and accessible in Massachusetts - no right-wing, anti-science judge will change that.
I was proud to join my colleagues and advocates to reaffirm our commitment to protecting abortion access for every patient who needs it.
Massachusetts is in a housing crisis - and it's going to take all of us to address it head on.
That's why my office is issuing an advisory calling on towns and cities to comply with the MBTA Communities Zoning Law to provide relief and advance critical climate and transit goals.
Student loan borrowers are facing an unprecedented debt crisis & it's affecting over 930,000 people in Massachusetts alone.
That's why yesterday I joined

My first day in office! I’m humbled by the opportunity to serve.
As your AG, I will use all the tools of this incredible office to protect residents, fight for our families and ensure the next generation does better than the last.
The MBTA Communities Act was enacted to help address our housing crisis and ensure anyone who wants to call Massachusetts home can afford to.
My office won't hesitate to meet our responsibility to enforce the law - that's the bottom line of this lawsuit.
In Massachusetts, we will not stand for these hateful & horrific acts.
My office remains a resource for ALL, including our Islamic & Palestinian neighbors, as we all strive for peace and compassion.
The vile defacement of the Palestinian Cultural Center for Peace and Boston Islamic Seminary in an apparent

I was one of few Black students in class at times at Princeton, but affirmative action didn't benefit just me.
It benefitted those around me.
Diversity benefits our education system. Our healthcare system. Our innovation. Our economy.
We should all care about this decision.
Location data provides a unique window into our daily lives—from where we buy groceries to where we go to the doctor.
I fully support a ban on the commercial sale of location information because this sensitive information shouldn't be available to anyone willing to pay for it.
I want every renter in Massachusetts to know that if they're having trouble with their landlord, this office is open and available to them.
Everyone deserves access to safe, sanitary and affordable housing.
Massachusetts is in a housing crisis, period.
We have to come up with real solutions to create a housing system that works for all - I was glad to meet with members of the Housing Caucus yesterday to talk about the work my office is doing and how we can tackle this together.
To Massachusetts' trans community:

Today marks a new chapter in holding JUUL accountable for their predatory and wrongful targeting of young people.
The settlement announced today will deliver $41 million to Massachusetts - and a portion of that will go directly to funding vaping addiction services.
Less than a week ago, a group of unelected, lifetime appointees rolled back affirmative action, student loan forgiveness, and LGBTQ+ rights.
This July 4th, I'm recommitting to the important work of fighting back to protect our rights and advancing equity in all of our systems.
Convictions for marijuana possession disproportionately impact Black & brown individuals, making it difficult to get a job, housing or an education.
@MassGovernor
's proposed pardon of these charges will move us in the right direction & help rectify historic racial disparities.

This Juneteenth, the honor of being the first Black woman to serve as Massachusetts Attorney General is not lost on me.
I stand on the shoulders of all the beautiful, resilient Black people before me who fought for civil rights, freedom, inclusion and love.

Punishing someone for simply not having a roof over their head is cruel and completely disregards their dignity.
I'm proud to join a coalition of AGs arguing to SCOTUS that it's unconstitutional to punish someone for sleeping on public property when they have nowhere else to go.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Fun Fact: Did you know Worcester was the center of the Valentine's Day card industry in the US for nearly 100 years?
Worcester isn't only the heart of the Commonwealth, but it's also always the center of attention 😉
In Massachusetts we take care of one another.
We launched the Immigrant Legal Services Grant Program to ensure that legal service organizations have the capacity and resources they need to support immigrant communities in our state.
Massachusetts is facing down a housing crisis - we have to get real about solving it.
I'm committed to using the tools of this office to help ensure our state is affordable and livable for every resident.
Happy Move In Day, Massachusetts!
Beginning today, I’m releasing a video every day for the next five days breaking down the rights you have at every stage in your tenancy.
Today, I'm answering a few questions sent over from real renters across the state.
Tune in 📱
Today's decision by SCOTUS to outlaw affirmative action willfully ignores the reality of racism and racial inequity in our country.
We will press forward in the fight for equity and inclusion, break down arbitrary barriers to education and help all students thrive.
John wasn’t just kind, smart, and full of hope — he was deeply principled and spent his career empowering those around him to do good.
I along with so many will miss him dearly. My prayers are with Donna and Coleman.
Rest in peace and power, my friend.
NSC-131 is a neo-nazi group that has engaged in a concerted campaign to target and terrorize people across Massachusetts and interfere with their rights.
We're holding them accountable for their unlawful behavior.
In Massachusetts, anyone with a domestic violence restraining order is prohibited from possessing a firearm. We have some of the strongest commonsense gun laws in the country.
I'm joining my fellow AGs in urging SCOTUS to protect a similar measure federally.
Many new arrivals are eligible and eager to work, but delays have left many unable to support themselves and their families, resulting in the need for emergency shelter in an already strapped system.
This week, I led a coalition of AGs urging DHS to expedite these work permits.
Congratulations, Madame President 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
As new, local leaders begin taking office across the state (some making history!), I'm excited to work with them to defend our rights, protect consumers, and put money back in the pockets of hardworking people
Started off the new year with my colleagues at our inauguration ceremony.
I am deeply humbled to have earned the unanimous support of my
@BOSCityCouncil
colleagues to lead as Boston City Council President, an honor that is especially meaningful today as the Haitian community…
The MBTA Communities Law is a critical, necessary tool in our toolbox to help tackle our state's housing crisis head on.
My office won't hesitate to uphold our obligation to enforce the law.
If there’s one thing clear, it’s that the state of our Commonwealth is strong.
Proud to join
@MassGovernor
tonight as she laid out her vision for a Massachusetts where everyone can thrive.

SCOTUS heard oral arguments in the mifepristone case today, so here’s your reminder that medication abortion is:
✅ Safe
✅ Effective
✅ Will remain legal and accessible in Massachusetts
Nothing today changes the status of medication abortion here or nationally.
This devastating decision to resurrect an unconscionable abortion ban by the Arizona Supreme Court will put lives at risk.
I'm grateful for the leadership of
@AZAGMayes
in this moment - and Massachusetts is prepared to step up to help in any way we can.
Stable and safe housing isn't just a tool for economic mobility -- it's a human right, whether you own or rent.
We're facing a housing crisis in our state, and I was proud to testify earlier this week in support of crucial legislation filed to tackle this crisis from all sides.
One year ago, I was inaugurated into office.
Since then, we’ve taken action to safeguard our civil rights, broken down barriers, held open houses in our offices across the state, fought for fairer systems, and delivered for the people of Mass.
And we’re just getting started.
Compliance with the MBTA Communities Zoning Law is not only mandatory, but an essential tool we have against a crisis disproportionately affecting communities of color and working families, and one that threatens all of us and our economy.

So-called "competitive' electric suppliers have profited by exploiting low-income consumers and communities of color for years.
It's time to pass legislation to put an end to this industry once and for all.
In Massachusetts, we will always stand up for reproductive and abortion rights and protect the right for each and every person to decide whether, when, and how to have and parent a child.
In the fight for a more equitable, greener future, frontline communities that have borne the brunt of this crisis must have a seat at the table and their voices heard.
Businesses in Massachusetts will be held accountable when they harm and exploit consumers, especially in low-income communities.
My office will continue to protect all consumers from unfair and deceptive business practices.
We all have a role to play in combatting our maternal health crisis, including racial disparities.
Today I joined organizations receiving our Maternal Health Equity Grants to discuss what they're seeing on the ground and how these funds will make an impact on their work.
We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by removing barriers for parents to run for office.
We should take this opportunity to level the playing field for working families and anyone who wants to step up and serve their community.
June marks Gun Violence Awareness Month and a reminder that we already have the tools to put an end to gun violence in our communities.
We only need our leaders to have the courage to step up and enact commonsense gun reform.
When you check out, you shouldn't get barraged by hidden "convenience" or "service" fees or get trapped in deceptive subscription services.
I'm proposing regulations to address these "junk fees" & ensure MA consumers are paying advertised prices - not hiked up costs for profit.
As your Attorney General, my promise to you is to keep showing up - and that includes in every corner of the state.
We're dedicated to growing our office's presence in every region to make sure we're leaving no one behind.
Massachusetts has the lowest firearms death rate in the country. Our goal is to see that rate even lower.
Our new Gun Violence Prevention Unit will be at the forefront of driving down gun violence by enforcing and defending our state's guns laws.
Hate and extremism have no place in Massachusetts.
If you've experienced or witnessed any hate-motivated threats, harassment, or violence, reach out to the AGO. Preventing and addressing these incidents is a top priority for my office.

To our LGBTQ+ young people:
You have a whole lot of rights and protections under Massachusetts state law, and it's never been more important for you to know and share them.
Here are just some I want you to know as your Attorney General.
Access to accurate information on reproductive care has never been more vital.
That's why today we announced the Abortion Legal Hotline, a free and confidential resource for those providing or seeking this critical care.

As one of the only Black students in my undergrad & law school classrooms, I know the importance of diverse spaces.
I'm proud to roll out this guidance alongside
@MassGovernor
to give our higher ed & K-12 institutions tools to create welcoming communities for everyone to thrive.
Every student has talent.
Every student has potential.
But not every student has the same shot at a college degree.
Today at a convening of education leaders, we released guidance with
@MassAGO
on making our state a welcoming and inclusive place for students of color, LGBTQ+…
I'm proud to announce that our office is awarding $780,000 to 13 nonprofit legal service organizations as part of our Immigrant Legal Services Grant Program.
That's 13 organizations on the ground now with more funding to provide vital legal services to newly arrived immigrants
Legal service organizations need increased capacity to continue supporting immigrant communities in navigating complex systems & securing basic needs.
That's why today we're launching the Immigrant Legal Services Grant Program to ensure migrants receive the resources they need.
Indoor air pollution from gas stoves can lead to poor air quality & threaten community health.
That's why I filed comments today to help strengthen the Consumer Products Safety Commission's efforts to address indoor air pollution & urge
@USCPSC
to address these hazards quickly.
Families can be made in different kinds of ways – our state’s parentage laws should reflect that.
It's long past time we pass legislation to ensure equal access to parentage protections for LGBTQ+ families.
Our Reproductive Justice Unit was made with the idea that our office can use every tool in our toolbox to ensure everyone is able to decide for themselves if, when and how to become a parent.
I'm excited to introduce you all to the first ever Director of this unit: Sapna Khatri.

No matter how or what you celebrate, I hope you're able to take some time to relax and find joy this season.
In schools.
In houses of worship.
In movie theaters.

I've said it before, and I'll continue to say it: Reproductive justice is a top priority for this office.
We're using every tool at our disposal to ensure folks have access to critical health care, resources and knowledge.
When they come for one of us, they come for all of us – I will always use every authority at my disposal to root out hate.
Proud to support the launch of

I want to tell you about two Black World War II veterans:
Sgt. Isaac Woodard Jr. was beaten & blinded by South Carolina police while in uniform.
Sgt. Joseph H. Maddox was accepted to Harvard, but denied financial help from his VA office to “avoid setting a precedent.”
With reproductive rights under attack, protecting access to a full spectrum of abortion care is a top priority.
I’m proud to support CVS and Walgreens in offering abortion medications in store, allowing this critical care to be more accessible to all.
Systemic racism is imbedded in our medical system. In Massachusetts, the maternal mortality rate for Black women and birthing people is twice as high as it is for our white counterparts.
As a Black mama, I can't accept this — that's what
#BlackMaternalHealthWeek
is all about.
Happy New Year! Wishing you all a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2024.
It's been the honor of my life to serve as your Attorney General over the past year, and I look forward to a new year of protecting Massachusetts consumers and fighting for a fairer Commonwealth for us all.
The ruthless attacks by Hamas against the people of Israel are horrific, unprecedented and wrong.
I strongly condemn these acts of terrorism and continue to pray for the families, children, elders and communities targeted by this hate.
Called some folks out this week for intimidating businesses trying to do the right thing.
Our systems were constructed to keep people out. They were built that way & too often continue to do so today. Our business community can help remedy some of these historical inequities.
My hope is that every day women and young people who look like me – and see the incredible work of this office – will feel less invisible because there continues to be a shining example of what is possible.
Being your Attorney General means delivering on the justice, results, and opportunity you deserve.
Today, we're releasing our office's strategic plan to not only lay out my vision and priorities for the AGO - but to make clear how we'll be showing up in this work every day.
I am profoundly disappointed by today’s ruling by the court to allow the continued use of electric skin shock on some of our most vulnerable residents, at the only facility in the world that uses this “treatment” on people with developmental disabilities.

New immigrants in MA who are eligible for work authorization continue to face needless delays. Positive changes have been made, but more are needed to make sure new arrivals can support their families.
My office will keep fighting to make it easier for more migrants to work.
