When did Andrew Bolt write one (1) story that expressed a love of Melbourne? Of its history, traditions, great characters? Bolt was a virus in its veins. His job was to make it feverish, ill-tempered, tearing at itself. What he served was the Murdoch business model.

Patrick Dodson’s older sister saw their mother chained to a tree back in the old mission days. Has he ever spoken of “maintaining the rage”? Compare his civility with Howard’s, his stature as a leader & statesman. One man is so much greater.

John Cain once told me all political careers end in failure. I dare to disagree. Some people, like your good self, endure even after death as models of civic virtue.

SKY CLEAR: Qantas has dumped Sky News from its lounges and will instead feature ABC News bulletins. The move follows years of decline into hysterical propaganda by Sky. Meanwhile, ABC News Breakfast has dumped its 'Front Pages' segment which showcased Murdoch tabloids. #auspol

Dear Sam, In Sudan in 1980, I got really sick. At a water pump surrounded by a mob of people in the desert, a young man in a jellaba saw I was struggling & took the soap from my hands & washed my hair. It was the most Christian experience of my life and he was a Muslim.

The daily lie of the Herald Sun is that it represents the people of Victoria. It represents an oligarch who traded his Australian passport to make more money, who has damaged democracy in three countries, who provides Tucker Carlson with a platform from which he supports Putin

Thinking today of the Dees supporters I got to know in 2008-09 when I was embedded with the club, the ones who are totally not the cliched Melbourne fan, who were there every week during the bad times. You were as good as it gets and this is yr time!

My rejected #ArchibaldPrize entry 'Sabine Desrondaux-Woman of Letters'. The prize rules state it should be a portrait of a woman of letters etc so I did one of my friend who is a #postie . It is a tribute, to the workers who provide essential services especially in #lockdown

Andrew Bolt is the alienated youth who gets to the centre of the culture by expressing his fears and resentment and acting as a medium for the fears & resentment of others. That he pretends to speak for “us” is an Orwellian inversion of logic.

It really is time that Australians took up the fight to defend the ABC. The hypocrisy of those attacking it - the Murdoch press, the IPA - is that they pretend to speak for the Australian people when Australians overwhelmingly support the ABC.
