It’s important to note that Joan inherited the house, not purchased. Also, she never even wanted to be a lawyer and only did it because she thought she didn’t get into design school. She was actually a stifled unfulfilled creative living under societal pressures of “success”.

One of the subtle things I really enjoy about #QueenSugar is that many scenes are centered around gathering together at the dinning room table. People rarely eat together like that consistently unless it’s a special occasion or holiday but it’s a constant on this show. Love that.
