How is the virus different in Canada, compared to the UK, Denmark, southern US states and other places that have ended mandates? Why are our governments doubling down on vaccine mandates at this point?
@elonmusk
@mattyglesias
You cannot follow the laws of all countries and still say you support free speech. If authoritarians ask you to selectively censor, then go dark in their entire country.
The supposed 70% of Canadians that want mask mandates are obviously not wearing masks right now. What are they waiting for? The guy on TV to tell them to? Obviously, these people love mandates more than they really want masks. Authoritarian cowards.
Found yer problem right here... The Liberal Party of Canada is the only one that does not require a party member to be a citizen of Canada or permanent resident. The CPC, NDP, Bloc and PPC all do.
@ABDanielleSmith
All provinces ought to reject federal intrusions into their areas of responsibility, especially programs that impose economic hardship.
@cafreeland
Isn't part of the process of raising interest rates to quell inflation the pushing of people into deleveraging? Why fight the BoC by subsidizing high personal debt?
@MaximeBernier

@theJagmeetSingh
PPC is now the party for working people. We believe that in Canada, if you put in an honest day of work, you can do OK, and if you hustle a little harder, you can do a lot better. let's get government out of the way of workers.
Any media outlet saying that there were “thousands” of protesters today in Montreal are fake news. There were “thousands”. As in, easily over 100 “thousands”. This is one small section of the protest, between Saint Catherine Street and Sherbrooke.
I received a truly heartwarming e-mail from an elderly supporter today. They planned on voting CPC, but had a last-minute pang of conscience at the ballot box and voted for me. They were moved by PPC's respectful tone, lack of name-calling, and focus on free speech.
@TPostMillennial
Targeted tax increases mean the government wants to reduce the amount of something they consider bad. Do they really want to reduce the availability of food?
It’s truly amazing to canvass in a town where almost everybody you meet is a PPC supporter! Plum Coulee is a beautiful gem of a hard working prairie town. Isaac here is a happy longtime PPC stalwart who gave Max and I many encouraging words.
@Jayde8700
More like East German Stasi than Nazi. Everybody informed on everybody and social pressure was encouraged by the state. And you weren't allowed to leave the country.
@MaximeBernier
spoke particularly well at yesterday’s gala in Burlington. His diagnoses of today’s issues such as housing, the economy and immigration are logical, rational and express Canadian public opinion better than any other leader.
@theJagmeetSingh
US-style private healthcare is a mess. Go look at Europe instead, where they figured out how to have both public and private working together, and generally have high satisfaction.
@globeandmail
I thought Pride was all about being open about one's sexuality. Why all this desire for secrecy? Urging kids to tell sexual secrets to non-parental adults is very creepy.
@KimPigSquash
@MikeDonio
Good post. What terrified me was the ferocity and moral superiority with which people who I thought were middle-of-the road became scolding authoritarians. Wait... even worse, became minions of the authoritarians.
@freeandwildCA
@atRachelGilmore
I have met politicians of other parties and have been photographed with them. Does not mean I support those parties. I have met with people whose ideologies I strongly disagree with, and I try to convince them to change. If we don't meet, we don't talk, and all that is left is…
MAD MAX MANITOBA TOUR
Thank you so much Manitoba! That monster rally yesterday will for sure go down in history as the largest of this whole election campaign for all the parties!

BlueSky is funded by Twitter and is mostly a technical experiment to try out stuff that I expect Twitter will adopt. It is presently at beta release level.
@MaximeBernier
took a lot of media crap when he said Greta Thunberg was mentally unstable. He was harsh but not wrong. Prescient. This climate-narcissism appears to be contagious.
From Macleans: "EKOS research finds that supporters of Maxime Bernier’s People’s Party of Canada are not just old white guys. The party does better with millennials than with seniors, and has a bigger percentage of supporters with university degrees than the Conservatives do."
@SeamusORegan
There are lots of better Canadian workers out there. Hard workers. Workers who will show up where and when they are told. Workers who ask, "Is this job done per requirements?" and if yes, "What shall I do next?" or "Let's try this." You should try hiring such workers.
@atRachelGilmore
I think she is accurately explaining why these people are getting violent. I also think she is accurate in predicting it will get worse. That is what journalists do. I assume that you would prefer she be an activist and condemn one side or the other, rather than reporting.
As Max says, PPC is in the game. As of July 10, Global News reports we have 286 candidates. NDP have 116, Greens have 208, Libs have 213, Cons have 316.
@CTVNews
We do have an orderly immigration system. It is admired around the world. What we need is better border security and faster deportations of rule-breakers.
If PPC does not win. A PPC vote still has power. It tells the winner that there is a core of patriotic and engaged citizens who will be watching their every move, and calling B.S. on government sprawl, pandering, and erosion of freedoms.
@AllanMRock
Effective and immediate action can make the truckers leave quietly. That action is the removal of vaccine mandates. No cops or equipment required.
@JustinTrudeau
Then stop the government from funding the press. That creates an unavoidable conflict of interest. The perception of influence is almost as bad as actual corruption.
@MaximeBernier
Big Government needs Big Immigration. CPC supports big government. It is not about conservatism as much as it is about statism and authoritarianism.
My feet are totally DONE after a day of door-knocking in Orillia. But worth it. People are incredibly friendly and open minded today. I experienced zero rudeness. In fact, I heard a lot of righteous anger from disappointed Conservatives. PPC support strong.
@StoneSculptorJN
@DonDavies
Many other industries would collapse if oil and gas were not available cheaply. Hard emissions caps would mean lots of industry would leave Canada and go to places not in the Paris suicide pact. China, Russia, third world.
@RollingStone
The organizers implemented the restriction here, not the government. They are the ones excluding children. Alternatively, they could have required the event to be kid friendly, meaning non-lewd.
@McMasterU
@McMasterSocSci
So what if a school system ignores Marxist ideals? As long as students get a good education, what is wrong with a charter school? Are you implying that government-run public schools put students at a disadvantage?
@AHousefather
What if the news service exhibits a long standing pattern of deceit and bias? Because the government subsidizes so many failing entities, normal market forces cannot punish bad actors.
Maxime Bernier is the federal party leader with the best resume covering both public service and private sector roles. To that we can add "able to safely operate electric screwdriver", and "team player". 😁
It was truly an honour to participate in the PPC Toronto-area candidate reveal event on Friday, and best of all, to spend some time discussing our platform and campaign with Max one-on-one.
@theJagmeetSingh
Handing out cash will just cause more inflation. Many people will have to sell. That's economic reality. Real support would be to address root causes rather than throwing band-aids like rebates around. Less taxes and less government is a good place to start.
Summary of election results:
Trudeau wasted $600M to win a majority. He didn’t.
O’Toole ran as a leftist. He did worse than Scheer.
The Greens collapsed.
Bloc and NDP did not gain any ground.
PPC almost tripled its support. We’re the only winners!
@stuartlosaltos
@RawiriTaonui
Freedom of speech means not getting assaulted because of what you say. But when such assaults happen, you know you have won any argument.
@JesseBrown
Trying to penalize non-captive media to subsidize financially captive media is exactly intended to drown out speech the government and elites don’t like.
