On Tues, our HazMat Team trained on their pipe tree prop. Members had to address leaking pipes, fittings & valves using clamps, wrenches & blank flanges. While water was used during the exercise, the scenarios helped Techs prepare to control a leak of a real hazardous substance.

Yesterday, our Special Ops responders stood by in Cheltenham Twp while Vice Pres. Kamala Harris ( @vp ) visited Montgomery County for a campaign event. Our HazMat + US&R Teams were proud to be at the ready to protect our elected officials, event attendees & the community at large.

Recently, our US&R Team spent several hours training on the Schuylkill River, utilizing ropes to build an MCP (movable control point). While not commonly used, this technique allows boats to operate in conditions that motorized craft cannot due to underwater obstructions.

This week, our US&R Team deployed to the Schuylkill River to search for a missing boater. US&R personnel spent 12 hrs over 2 days searching the river/shoreline. Our UAV Team also assisted. Sadly, the subject was located deceased on Thurs. Our thoughts are w/ his family & friends.

Today, MCORT (Montgomery Co. Overdose Response Team) attended the Second Chance Resource Fair, hosted by the Clerk of Courts. We provided hands-only CPR & Naloxone training + info on recovery resources. Attendees could take 2 doses of Naloxone and/or xylazine test strips w/ them.

Yesterday, utilizing grant $, we provided fire co's an opportunity to safely dispose of old firefighting foam containing PFAS, free of charge. By removing this funding obstacle, fire co's will be able to devote their resources to buying environmentally friendly fluorine-free foam
