Iran's judiciary today confirmed that a man who beheaded his wife & carried her severed head in public last year had been sentenced to 8 years in prison. The same judiciary hanged a protester last month for blocking a road & wounding a militiaman.

As disinformation goes, this is one of the laziest attempts by Iran's state broadcaster (IRIB) that I've seen. It claims that conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was ordered by a "press court" to pay $965m "for making a comment against the US government". Almost entirely false.

Well this is a bit of a surprise: The Iranian Navy (Artesh) - not IRGC Navy - has announced that it seized the vessel in a brief statement. It didn't name the ship and only identified it as "an American tanker". Didn't say why it had seized it.

The tanker which the Iranians have boarded today in the Gulf of Oman is the ST NIKOLAS (9524475); carrying Iraqi oil. Formerly known as the SUEZ RAJAN; she was seized by the US government for having transported a million barrels of Iranian oil in connection to a US company.
