Garrett Whitlock is signing autographs for fans while in his car trying to get out of the parking lot and saying “you’re so very welcome!” When he hands back the signed stuff
Had to ask Chris Sale "what is that shirt you're wearing??" He said that's Daddy Long Neck, the only guy in the country who makes him feel jacked. He wears it every game day and bullpen day.
Eovaldi was asked if the TV was okay after his start. He kind of shrugged and said yeah and then a smile crept across his face and he was like "oh right I get what you mean now" 😂
Jarren Duran is not with the WooSox tonight and manager Chad Tracy indicated he may be joining the Red Sox shortly.
Duran has reached base in 29 straight games in Triple-A.
Tanner Houck is here at Polar as well today. You’d never know he took a line drive to the face! Can’t see any scars. But the recovery did not sound like a good time.
I recommend checking out Kevin Plawecki’s Instagram stories of he and some other Red Sox players golfing and Hunter Renfroe catching frogs in his golf polo and khakis
Jeter Downs is a late scratch to the WooSox lineup. Not sure why, he was taking grounders about an hour and a half ago so I don’t think it’s an injury to him.
It was a very long day at the ballpark but it ended with a come from behind win for the WooSox (their 24th of the season) and a very cool moment where Wilyer Abreu and his wife Kelly had a gender reveal on the field after the game 🥹

Few people make me laugh more consistently on Twitter than Craig’s daughter tbh. “Long Chile” is the work of a budding genius
We are not able to get a distance on Dalbec's home run off the train. But the exit velocity was 115 mph, and the launch angle was 38. Since batted ball metrics have been tracked, no other home run has had that exit velo + that launch angle.
Chris Sale is ready to do whatever the Red Sox need from him when he comes back.
"If they want be to be an opener for two innings, I'm in. If they want me to stretch to six innings, deal. If they want me to come out of the bullpen, I'm in."
My absolute least favorite thing about this Ime Udoka story is people trying to guess who the woman is. Who cares? I swear I’ve seen so many variations of “we gotta see what this girl looks like to see if it was worth it” and it’s so gross
Michael Chavis will stop and sign autographs for every kid who is near the dugout both days he’s been here at Polar. He just put all his stuff down three times because he saw others to sign for.
I’m super excited to have the opportunity to cover the
@WooSox
inaugural season this spring and summer for
@masslivesports
! Catch me around
@PolarPark2021
this summer! Stoked to get back into some minor league baseball action!
Got to marry my best friend in the world
@PatODay
today and there’s no better feeling!! Nine years ago today we were working on both ends of a World Series win at Fenway Park and now we’re here 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Meet Kaleb Ort, the other pitcher the Red Sox selected from NYY in the Rule 5 (tho the minors portion). The hard-throwing righty has allowed only one earned run this season and has been dominant in the closer's role.
It may be Bello day, but my attention will be here at Polar for Chris Sale’s rehab start. Stay tuned throughout the evening for updates! Also if he wears something weird as hell in his postgame presser again, I promise to ask what the deal is (again)
A nice outing for Naoyuki Uwasawa today in Worcester:
5 IP, 1 run on 5 hits and a walk, 7 strikeouts and 14 swings and misses, 8 of those coming on his changeup.
79 pitches/48 strikes
Been listening to
@bastardspod
episodes on L. Ron Hubbard all day today and this how has this crazy story not been turned into a movie. I already got the lead picked out:
Franchy Cordero has been removed from the game in the fifth inning and it does not seem to be due to an injury. He was talking with Chad Tracy in the dugout.
Kind of crazy how Meneses was a back-up first baseman in Worcester last year and now he's hitting .356 with a OPS over 1.000 in 23 games for the Nationals this year. Cool to see
And just like that the WooSox season is over. Season finale in Rochester called due to unplayable field conditions.
The WooSox finish 2022 season with a 75-73 record and +36 run differential under first-year manager Chad Tracy, going 36-39 at home and 39-34 on the road.
Wilyer Abreu reflects on a really special moment after the WooSox game (he couldn't stop smiling!) plus more photos - you have to see his teammates reactions. And more on another good win for the WooSox:
Chris Sale on Polar Park and the
@WooSox
: "This place is legit. And it’s even more fun because this team is fun to watch. We got some guys on this team. They bring energy, the athleticism is through the roof here, it’s crazy."
I'm cleaning out my photo library and I came across a random Lowell Spinners game I went to as a fan and it just happened to be Tanner Houck's third professional game.
Kyle Schwarber is coming into a Red Sox clubhouse where he hasn't played with any of his new teammates before. But in Worcester, there's someone who not only played alongside Schwarber, but lived with him for three years in college.
Bobby Dalbec's biggest fan is in the house tonight and he came over and gifted her his batting gloves, and then came back and took a pic with her. She was over the moon.
Connor Seabold was excellent once again today - one run on six hits, four strikeouts, 92 pitches/64 strikes.
His ERA on the season is now 1.95. He's gotta be the next in line for a crack at the Red Sox rotation when they need someone because he's been very good this year.
I think both of the WooSox catchers have earned a look in the majors at some point. Wong is really good behind the plate and solid with the bat. Hernandez has been the team's hottest hitter for two months and has made improvements defensively
Some personal news...I'm excited to announce I've accepted a position as an assistant in the athletics office at Clark University! I'm thrilled to join the Cougars team! The move is bittersweet because I've truly loved my time at the Item but I'm ready for a new challenge!
Think Whitlock & Ort are the only pitchers the Sox grabbed from the Yankees in the Rule 5? Let me introduce you to Raynel Espinal, who spent his career in the Yankees org prior to coming to Boston. Now he's riding a 7-game win streak for the WooSox:
