Does Chiefs coach Andy Reid bear any responsibility for enabling his son or are we not ready for that conversation? We know his son was not the most qualified when hired to go along with a checkered past. The best thing on his resume was his last name.
Thirteen times under Bill Self, Kansas has hosted a top 10 team ranked higher than the Jayhawks. With Kansas’ 69-65 win over UConn, the Jayhawks are 13-0 in those games.

With Joel Embiid hitting 70, there have been 14 70-point games in NBA history. Half (7) belong to former Kansas players. No other school has more than one.

got the shot of the elbow that Armando Bacot ate that started to set things off in the first half. Great shot, Grant.

Jason Bean decided to come back to school after an errant pass on the final play in last year's bowl loss to Arkansas. All he did was help Kansas get to nine wins (six or which were QB'ed by Bean), finish second on KU's all-time passing TDs chart and set the KU bowl TD record.
With about six months until National Signing Day, here's how the new Big 12 ranks in FB recruiting (per 247Sports Composite):
1. TT (No. 19 overall)
2. WVU (32)
3. KU (34)
4. UC (36)
5. ISU (38)
6. OSU (43)
7. TCU (45)
8. UCF (49)
9. BU (54)
10. KSU (57)
11. BYU (67)
12. UH (98)
A week after Texas held Chuba Hubbard to 121 yards on 37 carries (3.3 YPC), he's almost to the 300-yard mark against K-State and averaging 12.4 yards per carry. Don't sleep on the work the Longhorn defense did in that one.
In ‘21, Kansas got housed by USC and Bill Self talked about a need to upgrade his roster. He brought back four starters (and a top freshman reserve) added Remy Martin through the portal and won a title.
KU could return four starters next year, and the portal will be huge.
NEW:
#KUfball
has landed Minnesota RB transfer Ky Thomas. The Topeka native, and former four-star recruit, picked KU over offers from Colorado and Purdue.
Story:
This season still obviously has a ways to go. But Kansas could feasibly return Jalon Daniels, Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw, every WR in its rotation, Trevor Kardell and Jared Casey and three starting offensive linemen next year.
Mike Greenberg says the Chiefs defense can't play better than it did yesterday. I'm guessing when the Chiefs have two of their top corners and one of their top linebackers they might be a little more capable.
"I think Kansas got away with theft here." —
@MikeRoach247
on KU landing two elite edge rushers in Deshawn Warner and Dak Brinkley. Said it's one of the biggest storylines from National Signing Day.
This is amazing, and explains why Kansas didn't foul up three in the title game. The exchange during the timeout:
Jalen Wilson: “We ain’t fouling.”
Bill Self: “What do you mean we’re not fouling?”
Wilson: “We ain’t fouling, Coach. We’ll **** it up.”
The whole clip is great.
“This is on YOU.”
Bill Self had a plan for what to do in the final seconds of the National Championship game. But
@TheJalenWilson
and the team had another. The pressure was on, and they delivered.

I still say Phog Allen's biggest flex isn't Allen Fieldhouse being named after him. It's that the arenas at the Nos. 2 and 3 winningest schools in history are named after his players/proteges.
This was just savage from
@Kotelnicki
. Direct snap to Devin Neal, handoff to Jalon Daniels, fake end-around to backup QB Jason Bean, all while Jared Casey acts like he’s blocking a LB before slipping open.
Bill Self coming off a non-Big 12 title season is dangerous (not that it's happened a lot).
2019: Didn't win Big 12
2020: Had best team in the country, would have been No. 1 overall seed
2021: Didn't win Big 12
2022: Won national title
2024: Didn't win Big 12
2025: ?
“Places get credit for being tough places to play—they’re usually tough because the teams are really good. I joke about that, they say ‘Oh, it’s really difficult to win at Allen Fieldhouse at Kansas.’ I said it’s difficult to win there because they make you play Kansas.” —Bilas.
Today is the 11-year anniversary of the NCAA Tournament's biggest-ever upset by point spread: Norfolk State over Missouri. Congrats to all who celebrate.
Here's how spoiled Jalon Daniels makes Kansas fans at quarterback. There was real angst here about how he was playing, and the guy finished 21-for-27 for 298 yards.
Set against the previous decade or so, that's what, like a top 98th percentile performance for a KU QB?
Credit where credit's due. Jason Bean has had some tough moments, and he's taken a lot of heat for those moments.
But in a one-off moment, game on the line on fourth-and-six, Bean sits patiently, then absolutely uncorks this throw to Lawrence Arnold. Winning play in winning time
Kansas' Remy Martin played in 45 minutes over the Jayhawks' last two Big 12 Tournament games and had 22 points, seven boards, seven assists, three steals and no turnovers. Up until that point, he hadn't played 15 or more minutes in a game since late January.
Klieman on
@CoachJTang
"What Jerome Tang has done to infuse more and more energy into our school and our community, I'm forever grateful. Jerome and I are good friends, he helps us recruit and we try to help him in recruiting..."

Really I just respect Bill Self's support of the football program to intentionally play a close game and keep the crowd engaged on a big football recruiting weekend. Lance Leipold 3D chess, IMO.
One fun play/concept from

's game against Texas Tech today: Andy Kotelnicki lining up OL Ar'maj Reed-Adams in the slot and putting him in motion to give him a running head start for this block. That’s 6-foot-5, 325 pounds starting with extra momentum.
Kansas had just three offensive possessions in the second half. The first two were touchdowns while the final one saw Kansas kill nearly seven minutes without throwing a single pass, going 69 yards and adding a huge FG.
One of the interesting things this week RE Kansas F4 talk has been that so much has focused on Remy Martin (makes sense), but almost none on how lock-down Kansas' defense has been. Jayhawks held Providence to a record-low 17 points in 1H, then a game later held Miami to 15 in 2H.
Kansas EDGE signee Deshawn Warner (

2024 rankings. The Desert Edge product, who was already

's highest all-time signee moves from No. 148 to No. 67 nationally. Had big week at All-American Bowl.
A quick reminder: Kansas didn't have a permanent head coach when the Jayhawks took Jason Bean as a transfer from North Texas. Les Miles had been fired a few weeks earlier. Credit to then-interim coach Emmett Jones for adding to the QB room.
Guy came to KU without a permanent coach — he committed to transfer when Emmett Jones was interim coach in Lawrence — and went through the growing pains of Lance Leipold's first year. Then, even after losing his starting job, he stayed prepared, and he kept growing. Good for him
Kansas is going to have a super young but really versatile group of big men next year when Ernest Udeh and Zuby Ejiofor join Zach Clemence and KJ Adams.
Reminder: No Kansas point guard who averaged seven assists per game has also averaged double-digit PPG. Devonté Graham is averaging 17.6 PPG and 7.2 APG. Some of y'all need some perspective. Or Jesus.
Kansas QB Jalon Daniels over the last two second halves: 15-of-15 for 237 yards and two touchdowns, nine carries for 59 yards (6.6 YPC).
The Jayhawks scored on six of eight drives in those second halves, putting up 38 points (4.75 points per drive).

On the flip side, Christian Braun is shooting a thermonuclear 60% from 3 over Kansas' last 10 games, but only taking three attempts per game. Even when Braun was having so much success driving early in the year, Self said he wanted Braun to shoot more from deep. That would help.
Kansas coach Bill Self said he was a fan of last year's team having four guys who could "take it and bring it" in transition. With Jalen Wilson heading back to Lawrence and Kevin McCullar arriving, Kansas will have another team heavy on taking and bringing.
Big 12 officiating:
*Let 'em play
*Oh, this is physical
*We may be losing control of this game
*Let's call this thing super tight so we don't lose control
Rinse, repeat.
Cool De'Vion Harmon moment with
@KrisBudden
:
“15, 16 thousand deep Kris, it’s amazing. I’m glad I chose it. I’m glad I chose it. And they’ve chosen me and they welcomed me with open arms and the only thing I can do is just play hard for ‘em ... It’s a beautiful thing.”
Does Self love it when KU executes everything the way he draws it up? Sure.
But I've long felt there's a corner of Self's heart devoted exclusively to games where his team doesn't play well, it's gritty and ugly and his team finds a way to win with toughness. He *LOVES* those.
It’s hard to express just how big this is. Kansas gets a talented edge (and former four-star prospect) who should push for a spot opposite Jereme Robinson.

QB Jason Bean is now No. 20 nationally in Total QBR for the season, which ranks third in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma's Dillon Gabriel (No. 6) and Texas' Quinn Ewers (No. 16).
Insult to injury, Mike Pereira points out that the Kansas player was within two yards of the line of scrimmage and the penalty shouldn't have been called.
Kansas started 5-0, hosted College GameDay, saw its then-Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback get injured, stayed competitive despite other injuries at key spots, and hit its sixth win in the first week of November. And 10 offensive starters could return in 2023.
Klieman on Kansas State's season last year:
"When I came to Kansas State, I know there was a lot of people that were worried about [me going from] FCS to FBS and so on and so forth. And I've told our fanbase, I told recruits more importantly ... 1/2
Bill Self on CBS: "We've been pretty consistent for the most part all year long, but we haven't been whole. And I think right now we're closer to being whole than we ever have." Called Remy Martin a "difference-maker" and praised Mitch Lightfoot's emergence.
The moral of the story: those who cooperated with the NCAA and didn't go before the IARP got slammed. Those who fought the allegations and went to the IARP made it through mostly unscathed.
Kansas gets win No. 9 of the season, the Jayhawks' most since the 12-win Orange Bowl season in 2007. Two of the losses came by a combined seven points when the Jayhawks played a third-string FR QB.
KU now has a chance to head into 2024 as a Big 12 favorite depending on offseason
OK, I figured this year's camping groups would have a lot of (Gradey) Dick jokes. Having said that, I was WHOLLY UNPREPARED for "Kansas Dick fit in your mouth."
Christian Braun had a great junior season, but a nearly immaculate second half of the national title game where he impacted several phases with his strength, athleticism and competitiveness. Kansas doesn't get close, much less win the title game, without it.
Avery Johnson is one of the top quarterbacks in the state since I began covering Kansas. Tremendous ATH and a standout in basketball and baseball as well. Has greatly improved as a thrower. Excellent intangibles and leadership ability as well.
K-State's in-state class is absurd.
